I am not one of those people who is afraid of going to the dentist. I have a pretty standard set of teeth so no past traumas. lol. That being said, for me, going to the dentist is just as ho hum as any other errand where I will be interacting with humans who may be having their own kind of day. Front desk receptionist is friendly and polite and it's easy to schedule appointments. The dental hygenist is friendly and polite. Dr. Colpitts is friendly and polite. Dangit everybody in this whole place is so sweet. I particularly appreciate their straight forward nature and that they didn't try to sell me a bunch of services I didn't need (that has happened to me in the past and I really hate when dentists and their staff pull that kind of stuff - pretty unethical!) so I really appreciated an honest and friendly visit!!! I look forward to my next visit! I do like the bi annual update on what they're up to in the community and whatever new technology is going on in the world of dentitry via newsletter too. Not over bearing but kind of a "hey, in case you wanted us to fix this we can". I recommend this office to everyone. read more

It's quite unfortunate when there is a great dentist like Delaney working in an office that practices unethical billing practices. Last week, I had a consultation with Delaney, paid a consultation fee and got to meet Delaney. Also, I would like to mention that I have recently consulted with 3 other dentists in the Truckee area and this was the highest consultation fee that I have paid thus far. Unfortunately, Wendy and Tammy from her office were unable to provide a complete treatment plan and told me that I would need to schedule another consultation and pay for another consultation fee. With that being said, I would prefer not to get any dental work done in an office that practices this type of billing practice in which patients are charged twice for the same service. I talked to Wendy on the phone about this practice and she laughed most of the time. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I visited the practice for the first time in January. Like others, I was impressed with the practice from the first call. I was able to get an appointment quickly (no emergency, just changing dentists) at a convenient date and time. Suzanne welcomed me when I first walked in. She made me feel comfortable and right at home. It didn't stop there. Dr. Colpitts came out to the reception room, introduced himself and welcomed me. My hygienist also came out to the reception room to welcome me, and let me know she'd be able to take me in a few minutes. I did arrive early, and was seen on time. Disclosure: I worked both dental reception and patient care for 26 years for some excellent dentists. I had a very good cleaning and complete x-rays. I met Dr. Delaney, and she gave me a very detailed exam. She listened carefully to my concerns and my dental history, which is somewhat complex due to TMJ problems. While we were talking, she mentioned that she was surprised I was using dental terminology. I told her about my dental career. She did not know that in advance. Be assured, she wasn't doing anything extra or special because of it. I had a small cavity which Dr. Colpitts filled for me. Excellent bedside manner from him and his assistant Tammy. And the best filling I've ever had. He used a machine that vibrates the filling material, making it flow into the cavity. When the vibration stops, it becomes a solid again. This is similar to what happens in soil during an earthquake- liquefaction. This way, the filling material has a closer contact with the tooth over the traditional way of stuffing the filling material into the cavity. They were also sensitive to my jaw problems and gave me breaks when needed. I want to re-iterate how pleased I am with this practice. The dental care is of the highest quality. The office staff are pleasant and professional, and the office well-run. It's hard to find such a combination. Seems like you get only one- an office that survives because the front is good but the Dr. not so much, or an office where you tolerate the front office because the Dr. is good. I spent 30 years in Silicon Valley as a hitech Exec, always having Cadillac Dental insurance and the best Dental Care. Over the years, I have had a couple of crowns but mostly remedial treatment. We moved up to Tahoe and I needed to locate a high-caliber Dentist. I went to Dr. Colpitt at Sierra Crest Dental. On my first appointment, he proposed crowning 10 teeth at a cost of $25,972 including a $972 tooth guard. Almost none of this would be covered by insurance. They took x-rays and since their rates were so high, my Delta Dental Insurance would not cover $117 of the cost. I said "no thanks" to Dr. Copitt and established Dr. Karen Kucharski of Kings Beach, CA as my new dentist and couldn't be happier. Her work is excellent. She always works with the patient to cover as much as possible through insurance. Her staff is cordial and considerate. No waiting for your appointment. I would recommend Dr. Kucharski to anyone seeking an excellent, professional Dentist. read more

If you are worried about dental pain, worry no more. One of their #1 concerns is to make sure you are not uncomfortable. They are incredibly professional, caring, personable and do an excellent job. I completely trust their judgement. I used to have several 4's and 5's when they would check my gums but they encouraged me to get a Sonic Care toothbrush and floss every day. I listened to them and now I have no 5's and only a couple 4's. This means healthy teeth and gums which translates into a better feeling mouth and lower dental bills. I had not seen a dentist for a couple of years so when dental was added to my insurance I called Sierra Crest Dental. I asked them on the phone if they would accept my insurance (giving them the name) they said "Yes". (I get one free cleaning and X Rays per year through the insurance) They told me that I would have to pay for the cleaning upfront and then the insurance would send me a check. After the cleaning and X Rays they told me I needed 5 fillings and also recommended I see an orthodontist, before the fillings, for a different issue. A month after the first apt I received a check from the insurance company for 1/2 of the apt costs. The insurance told me that Sierra Crest does not take my insurance and it was out of network. I then cancelled all of the following apts. I went down to Reno today and the dentist there told me I only need two fillings and was very confused why they sent me to an orthodontist. Because the other issue could be fixed by a dentist. Unfortunately, overall very bad experience. read more

5 starts for care Dr Delaney and her staff took very good care of me even being scared and for my first crown. WARNING. 1 start for insurance and administration. Though I submitted my insurance to them- they neglected to tell me that they are OUT OF NETWORK for ALL insurances. I found this out only after having committed and having performed work in the thousands of dollars range. I only found out once I received my explanation of benefits stating that nothing was covered. Thanks a lot Sierra Crest. They tried instead to sell me their version of the insurance plan saying my plan just didn't cover much, instead of telling me outright they KNEW they were out of network- FOR ALL PLANS (other than their own Im assuming). They apologized when I called them, saying they usually tell people. That doesn't cut it after the ~2k check I spent there, which could have EASILY been avoided. read more

I have been going to Dr Colpitts dental office for over 10 years and am continual impressed by the level of professionalism, care and they always have the most up to date technology. I have never been a great fan of going to the dentist but the pain management techniques and caring staff have totally taken the fear out of my visits. Although I would still rather be skiing or paddleboarding. One thing that always impresses me is the staff continually communicate with you about what they are doing and where they are up to in the procedure, instead of having personal conversations like you are not there. I had a pretty major emergency with a broken tooth recently. I called the office early am and left a message, they called me back as soon as they were in the building. It was pretty clear they were the right choice by how concerned for me they were right off the bat..... I had never even been to their office before and they got me right in. Dr Colpitts has got to be one of the most compassionate people I've come across in the medical world. He really cared about me being in pain and was very quick to get things rolling and get my pain levels down. Stress levels were completely minimal the whole time... the dude is calm and collected. The entire staff is A+ really... I can't say enough good things about everyone who attended to me. The kicker to the whole visit was that he shot me 5 times with novocaine and I didn't feel ANYTHING!!! Literally not one poke. I had to ask him if he was gonna stick me... he was already done.
