I had started an implant procedure about a year ago. My final process was to have a crown designed and then screwed into the post. Dr Mier's advanced technology at the office allowed her to design the implant which was a combination of a tooth and a molar which allowed me only have only one implant. She created the crown right next to me in the dental chair explaining the process. It came out great! This was all accomplished in one visit. As I waited for the process to play out, I could her communication with her other patients. Not only is she an excellent dentist but her ability to have her patients feel both relaxed and confident in her abilities was just outstanding. After being a patient for 3+ years I have decided to leave this dental office and start care with a new dentist. As a person with extreme dental anxiety I will say that they do a great job at sedation (they prescribed me meds + laughing gas). That being said I have had two instances now where I have had fillings done and immediately needed a root canal. This last time really upset me because it was recommended to me to replace my fillings (fillings I had 0 issues or pain with) and now I need not one but two root canals on the left side after the non-necessary dental work done. They are also out of network with my insurance. Frankly, this never bothered me because I used to work at several medical offices and I understand reimbursement can be tricky. But it does bother me when I spend thousands of dollars and have to then go see a specialist for root canals after poor dental work. Especially considering we decided to be proactive about my dental work due to IVF reasons, so now we're spending even more money on medical bills. Just massively disappointed in the care I have received. I reached out about a month or so after the work was done to be told "it was normal" to be sensitive. I gave it more time and was seen for a bite adjustment about 4 months after the work. It didn't really do anything to fix the issue. I wake up and the first thing I feel is the left side of my mouth. When I emailed the office to express my disappointment I basically got a "too bad" response. I would think twice about coming to an office that seems to not value the relationship it has with its patients, or be willing to hear that their work is sub-par. read more

If you're looking for "good bedside manner" I would pass on this office. Very expensive! You're paying a lot for cool high tech which is interesting but the office is rushed, stressed and has high staff turnover. When I relocated to Truckee I had to give up my 20 year relationship with my previous office. Suffice it to say, though my previous dentist still sends her crowns out to be fashioned, I'll take that and a great personality over transactional coldness and entitlement any day. This dentist lectures and shames in the name of "helping" and if I questioned services, or made requests not to be shamed was made to feel badly about it. In addition, a hygienist called me with a periodontal referral three months after I requested it and verbally argued with me and called me "rude" and "a complainer". Thousands of dollars paid to this group over 3 years, because, of course, every tooth needs crowns or root canals to pay for that expensive equipment! Lucky for me, I found a highly rated dentist through a friend's referral in 5 minutes and couldn't be happier to move on! ** as far as complaining... this is the first yelp review I've ever done. I am spending the summer in Truckee and cracked a tooth. I tried numerous dentists who were listed as "emergency dentists" but most of them would not even offer an appointment time. I called Sierra Crest and Sue was very helpful. The first appointment was a week out but she said she would get me in sooner if they had a cancellation. They did have a cancellation 2 days prior to my scheduled appointment. I was so impressed by the friendliness, professionalism and efficiency of the staff. I was visiting Truckee to be a bridesmaid at my friends wedding and during the rehearsal my implant that I had for about 8 years fell out! Sierra crest was able to get me in to their office within an hour and replace my implant. They were so nice and efficient and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I was seriously impressed with the quality of care and all the interactions I've had with the Sierra Crest Dental team. Scheduling: There's a reason why SCD is booked out, but the front desk team is great about filling any cancellations or reschedules. Karen was incredibly helpful in getting me into the schedule for as soon as possible. She was also helpful in sharing resources for their wellness plan option, as I was also looking into dental insurance options. Appointment: I was stuck in Saturday morning Northstar traffic on 267 day of my appointment. I felt terrible and stressed about being late but the team was understanding and the level of empathy I felt from the moment I walked through the door completely put me at ease. My time in the chair with Denee (the hygienist) was educational and (surprisingly) pleasant. Dr. Delaney popped in to meet me and do a quick exam. It was another thorough and warm interaction. Very thorough and surprisingly broad approach for intake of new clients. I really appreciated all of the explanation and Q&A regarding my own priorities, constraints, concerns regarding dental care.
