We were lucky enough to be seated in the back with sunshine and a view of the garden, and it was lovely.

I'm sure dinner is just as good. 1 - great service, friendly, English speaking. 2- good food. Delicious (Lekker). Seriously good "bites" for under €4. Gotta try a few! 3 - Great location A non-touristy place. Great location. Don't let the crowds sitting outside intimidate you. There are always places to sit. Great small-bite menu. Good tunes playing too. I even heard an old Chicago remix song. It was hilarious but good. Food is unique and very Lekker.

It wasn't bad but it was a little cold, fortunately they had the heaters on. I have learned the hard way that Europeans take much longer to cook food than Americans. So I made sure to load up on the appetizers. I ordered the bread (3 euros), peking duck (3 euros, more like a spring roll with duck meat on the inside), salmon tartar (3 euros), and fries (3 euros). Of course, there is no such thing as "free refill" for your soda here in Europe so drink responsibly. I waited for about 40 minutes for my entree to come. I mean, based on European standard, it ain't bad. For entree, I tried the lamb and it was delicious. It came with string beans, mashed potatoes, and some other vegetables. The service was great and the servers were all friendly. Definitely a good meal. Expect to pay about 20 - 40 euros per person for dinner here. Good for both small and large groups. No wifi here but you could pick up the city wifi (weak connections). They take credit cards here. Menus available in both English and Dutch.

Most people dining were locals, which was a refreshing and interesting environment that fascinates me when traveling. The food was absolutely amazing - we had the fish entree and steak entree. The fish entree was honestly one of the best seafood dishes that I've ever had, perfectly cooked and with a great balance of flavors. The bearnaise sauce was insanely good as well. The people working here are so sweet and welcoming, and I think that this restaurant really reflects Haarlem as a whole - effortlessly charming and cozy.

We sat outside because it was almost warm enough in Holland ;), and everyone ordered a 3-course option. I had a lentil salad starter that was fantastic, a salmon entree that was good - not quite as cooked as I prefer salmon to be, and a creme brulee for dessert, which was off-the-charts fantastic. OFF. THE. CHARTS. CREME. BRULEE!! The wine selection wasn't quite as good as the food, but not bad. The ambience is perfect in this quiet, church-centered neighborhood, and I can't wait to go back and sit inside - because the interior looks super gezellig! A very good find.

What can I tell you about this restaurant?…read more I highly recommend reservations because it is a smaller space. Their offerings are very fresh, but also have some unique meats such as guinny fowl, wild dove, and venison. We all chose the Chefs Choice (4) courses and stated things we don't eat. I for one have a seafood allergy so they didn't bring me any. My nephew hates mushrooms, so they didn't bring him any, etc. They brought homemade bread with a aioli butter. In no particular order I had the(1) Cheese foam (parmasean) with a roasted tomato (2) the steak tar tar. It was extra lean beef, seasoned to perfection. It had raw egg yolk on top with truffle sprinkled on top, it sat on top of a cracker. It was delicious but incredibly rich! (I shared with the others). (3) Tri-tip steak with endive and other veggies. (4) Dessert that was the perfect amount it was a marshmallow fruity melt in your mouth flavor. We enjoyed two bottles of wine between the six of us. Ambiance was perfect. The wait staff really explained every course to perfection. It was truly a culinary experience. I hope to come back during my next Haarlem visit!
