The team today comprised a number of men who were courteous and responsive to my requests. I figured it was native to Texas, and I wanted a bit of shade in the backyard. It grew like a weed, and in three years it was giving us shade. In six years, it was over the roof, giving us shade, dropping leaves and twigs regularly, and we had to duck under its branches to mow the yard! I thought it might be a weeping willow, and I kinda fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I was the only one weeping, as the white willow's roots made a move on my house's foundation, and plumbing! Sorry Will, but ya gotta go! I searched Yelp, found several tree services that were local, and sent a short list to the husband. He called the one I put last on the list--skipping my top choices. He made the call, and Big Gorilla's owner showed up to give us an estimate. BGTS was $1,000 lower than a spitball quote we got from our roofer. I hate making decisions like this, and thought about getting more estimates....but I'm a procrastinator at heart, and I was impressed with BGTS's competent attitude. I decided to just get it done. The team of four--I think--came out the next day, blocking my driveway, (I didn't love that, but there's not much room on our street,) putting up cones to block their trucks, and got to work. By lunch, the tree was gone, the stump was ground six inches below the ground, and the roots threatening my house were dug up and destroyed. They had even gathered up all the sticks around the tree, and removed the debris as well. They left a small mound of woodchips to cover the hole left behind. My husband watched them on our home cameras, and he said they had pulled out monstrous roots, snaking through the yard. It's kind of sad to see the tree gone. It's even sadder to see the money gone to remove it. Not gonna lie, I thought about buying a chainsaw and sending hubs, and son-in-law out for a much cheaper DIY. But arms and fingers don't grow back, and even if they could take it down, the stump would remain without buying the heavy equipment. BGTS did exactly what I needed. They were on time, professional, efficient, didn't damage my plumbing, or the sprinkler system, cleaned up after themselves, and took a credit card payment at the door. They will now be first on my list I'm shopping for fruit trees now!

I was immediately impressed by Paul's depth of knowledge and unique experience related to native design which set him apart from the rest of the field in North Texas. Fast forward 10 months and two extensive design implementations later (front and back yards) I couldn't be happier with the results. The results are two of the most uniquely designed & implemented yards in all of DFW. The backyard is completely native southwestern landscaping with rock, cactus and agaves imported from all over Texas, Arizona, and California. In contrast the front is classic southern with original elements picked up in New Orleans and Savannah. In the end the pictures, which I have posted here, speak for themselves. If you are looking for someone to develop and implement a totally unique high end design Paul is your best option in North Texas hands down. His design acumen puts him in a category all his own in North Texas and on par with the best native landscape architects from across the country including places such as Palm Springs, CA and Austin, TX.

Paul and his team removed about 240 sq ft of grass and dirt and replaced with base of decomposed granite and river rock. Both finished projects look great.

The next day they came out and we were waiting on the sod. They are really highly self motivated. While waiting they just started to weed back and edge my front yard. The sod showed up and they went straight to work on the installation. These guys worked their back sides off. They had extra sod, so they prepped another area and installed the rest of the sod. They did an outstanding job. I don't have enough words to explain how good this crew is. This 5,000 sq ft of sod. I have 35,000 sq ft of back yard and hired Evergreen Lawn and Land scape. They have installed 20,000 sq ft so far. I will be hiring them for the next 5,000sq ft. This is a great landscape company and they have great employees.

If I could turn back time, I would just purchase lawn applications and fertilizers from Lowe's or Home Depot and apply it myself. After a few applications, I noticed zero improvement and reached out to Granulawn. Lewis was quick to respond and came out the next day. I explained my frustration and pointed out the areas of concern. Several times I requested to pull the problematic weeds. Each time only a handful were pulled and I was assured to trust their process and believe in their products. A year later, 2023 same result. Granulawn notified again for poor outcomes. Fast forward to now, over 1,000 out of pocket, weeds have quadrupled, resulting in me having the worst yard on the block. I've been extremely patient with this company with hopes their treatment plan will result in a beautiful weed freed yard. Boy was I wrong. My yard is completely covered in weeds. Run. Run.
