The most gorgeous pastries I think I've ever seen, this pastry chef if an artist! This place has great vibes, pretty space and very nice friendly staff. Drinks are delicious! read more

Jacob Alejandro is the coffee shop you drive an hour to just to get a coffee. Their espresso based drinks are a literal gift from god. The first time my taste buds encountered their delicious nectar, I instantly fell in love and could not get enough. I honestly contemplated turning around after finishing my first drink to get another one..... and another one.... Most importantly, the baristas know how to prepare a coffee to perfection. Just finished my coffee and miss it already read more

A friend suggested we try this place as they like coffee and we like coffee. It's a small place that's nicely decorated. It was the busiest place in the area. That's always a good sign. They had many baked goods. I don't have a sweet tooth so I passed on the sweets. My wife and I just ordered coffee black. The coffee was ok. There was a bitterness to the coffee that increased as the coffee cooled. I would. To drive 30 minutes just for the coffee here. I'd try it again if I was in the area. read more

Lovely atmosphere, great coffee, and deliciously creative pastries.

Another stellar addition to the Capital District. I'll echo what others are saying - this is phenomenal coffee. The baristas are knowledgeable and their assortment of caffeine concoctions are really innovative, unique and most importantly delicious. I live in Brooklyn, the land of artisanal coffee, and I have to say JA blows a lot of places down here out of the water. Always a delight to stop in here. I want to give a special shout out to their baked goods. They're awesome!! Up there with places like Tandem Bakery in Portland, Maine. I've never had scones so moist and delicious. Both the sweet and savory varieties are equally excellent. Between JA, The Placid Baker, and Capital Taco, it's clear Troy is on a roll as an up and coming city with truly unique and next-level food and coffee. read more

Oddly, they won't put whipped cream on hot beverages. I love Chai tea lattes, and try them everywhere I travel. I KNOW I like whipped cream, but apparently they know best and decided it's not appropriate. I think that's just rude. It's not "their standards,". P.S. The chai was quite average. read more

Been wanting to try this place and went there today for a late breakfast. It was a great experience as the staff was very friendly and told us about sone if the baked goods and also that they are made right there. Food was delicious and so was the cappuccino and latte. We will certainly go there again. read more

See all

The coffee here is absolute perfection. Absolutely obsessed with this spot! We've lived all over the country and finally feel like we have access to a real coffee shop again. It's 5 stars for a reason. read more

Met colleagues here for a meeting at this cozy spot. I was really looking forward to an afternoon decaf cappuccino, but it was sour and under extracted, the milk foam was weird. I expected better from what appears as a specialty coffee shop. I suspect the shop owner would want to know that quality control might be an issue. It could be that the barista didn't have that particular decaf grind dialed in, or maybe someone was new - barista work is very tricky stuff. read more

Everything about this place is pretty. The decor is pretty (I'm a sucker for dark green walls), the little jewelbox of a house-made pastry selection is pretty, and even the coffee is pretty -- not surprising, considering that one of the co-owners is an international latte art champ (yes, that's actually a thing!). Prettiness is no substitute for great food and service, though, and fortunately Jacob Alejandro comes through on both of those fronts too. The (VERY pretty) alfajores melt in your mouth, and the iced strawberry milk cold brew (recommended to me as something special to try) is a delightful surprise -- like your favorite childhood treat all grown up and kept from being treacly with the addition of the coffee. The service is also about as sweet and friendly as you could get. This has shot up to the top tier in my personal local coffee shop rankings, and I'm excited to drop in again soon to work my way through more of their menu items. read more

This place rocks! The coffee is great. The location is great. The staff is great. Didn't try the baked goods, but they look great. Stopped in both days we were in Troy. If you're in the area, it's worth making a trip to this coffee shop. read more

The best coffee I ever had in my entire life. Thank you. Beautiful decor. Great service. Wish there was one like this in Pa so I can visit often. read more

WOW. I loved Jacob Alejandro so much I went there twice during a vacation to the area. The horchata latte and strawberry milk cold brew were so unique and unlike any coffee drink I've had before. I was amazed by the intricacy of the drinks and just how good they tasted! The scone I had was legitimately the best scone of my life. Would definitely plan another trip just to go here again. read more

Coffee is perfect. I always get a latte with their house made almond milk. The pastries are outstanding, unique and just really beautiful.

I buy one pumpkin latte a season. This year, I was cheering my best friend in the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon and found this gem of a coffee spot. Best, most delicious pumpkin latte (tasted like real pumpkin purée) with oat milk ever...served to me with a kind smile and sweet "your welcome" as I said thanks. Don't know when I'll be back in Troy but I already miss this latte and I'm not even done sipping. Thank you, JA. read more

It is so refreshing to go to a place where the employees look like they enjoy their job, and appreciate every customer that walks through the doors. Even upon closing, they are offering you water, and aren't rude about you overstaying past the hours (I'm sorry!). I'll definitely be going back! Such a cute place, and a vibe I'd love to embrace and share with my friends and family. Go Jacob Alejandro read more

Lovely place and an absolutely warming welcome from who I believe were the owners. First time visiting and was very impressed with speed of service and the options available (wish I had taken a picture of the menus!). This place is AMAZING if you're looking for high quality espresso. They had several menus and items that were exclusively set out for espresso (and espresso drinks). I made the mistake of just getting a drip coffee and will definitely be back to try another drink. They also had a BEAUTIFUL layout of snacks and sweet things to eat. Again, will be back to try one and hopefully snap some pictures too. read more

We loved their coffee so much we had it three times while we were in Troy. A favorite was the seasonal citrus spice latte, but everything was great. The fig scone was very good, but the icing on the top of it was a little sweet for me. We didn't get one but the cookies looked delicious. Service was friendly. read more

Best coffee shop in the region with great staff. Drinks are creative and delicious and they have very elegant baked goods.

Great atmosphere, employees were quick. It also had good outdoor seating and cool decorations.

Just tried Jacob Alejandro today for the first time, and can't wait to come back! The location at the corner of Franklin Alley was convenient, and there's plenty of parking nearby. Alejandro took and prepared our orders; he was very friendly, and willing to answer questions/provide recommendations. We had one black filter coffee, one vanilla citrus spice latte, and one gluten-free almond blueberry financier. The coffee was hot and well-balanced, the flavors of the latte were very well blended and gave it a nice tea-like flavor, and the financier was moist, rich, and flavorful without being too sweet. It was a perfect snack. There are multiple coffee and espresso choices, offering a nice selection without being overwhelming. read more

The most amazing cute and trendy coffee shop. The owners are so friendly! They made my day. Great experience, not to mention the great matcha! read more

This was my first time going to Jacob Alejandro and I am very impressed with their high quality espresso! I got the piccolo and my boyfriend got the americano, both were delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful and the decor is modern and tasteful. This is some of the best coffee we have tried in the Troy area. We even got some of their coffee beans to go! We will definitely be going back! read more
