Vintage Marketplace whisks shoppers off on an adventure as they walk through the doors. Filled with…read morefashionable garments and trinkets with a vintage flare, I felt like I was browsing through rooms of European merchandise. Each area is categorized by color: blues to the right, browns and whites straight ahead, violets in the back of the store. Open doorways weave in and out of the dividing wall, allowing customers to float freely from continent to continent... er... section to section. Beautiful, plush scarves caught my eye, as well as some of the old writing table decorations. One room in the back was filled with an assortment of accessories, like jewelry, hair barrettes, and hats. Incredibly well organized, this shop is like strolling through a fashion museum. Prices were a little higher than expected, and although there were two salesladies in the store, neither of them acknowledged that I was there. That bumped Vintage Marketplace down to three stars. I'd still stop back for a browse though. The window display changes frequently (and, in my opinion, is the most elaborate in Hyde Park), so something new will likely draw me in again.

When I walked in the salesperson was behind the counter, but each room I went in to, she followed me. I ended up spending over $300.00 and I will return, but hopefully they will show respect to all their customers no matter what they look like.

I stopped by Downtown Girl just as Ute (pronounced oo-tah, she's German) and her husband Tom were closing up. I told them my story and they insisted I come in for some shopping. With a flip of the switch, the lights were on and music was playing. Downtown Girl carries all sorts of accessories for the feminine urbanite: from Fleur-de-Lis necklaces to soft, furry scarves, bright handbags, and intricate jewelery. If you're looking for a statement fashion piece, you will find it here. Everything sold in Downtown Girl is hand-selected by Ute. You'll definitely be getting a one-of-a-kind accessory and for a very reasonable price. I purchased several glass nailfiles as gifts for my best girlfriends. Ute provided wrapping for each individual item, complete with bright violet tissue paper, a filigree gift bag, and a sticker with her shop's logo. All my gifting needs were cared for under one roof. Downtown Girl has been in Montgomery for the past seven years. Recently, Ute expanded to the building next door, creating a sister shop: Uptown Girl, which carries clothing and posh accessories. http://www.yelp.com/biz/utes-uptown-girl-cincinnati Both Ute and Tom were the most friendly, genuine store owners. They even walked me to my car after locking up the store (again) to make sure I was safe. Now that's compassionate service!

The colors are muted, the apparel is understated and the jewelry looks more organic with lots of beads, natural stone and ceramic pieces. It's much more Serena than Blair. But oh my gosh, they have some to-die-for knits here! Do you ever find yourself watching a well-styled movie or TV show and you're thinking, "that's the outfit I want! It's so effortless and chic." This is exactly the place where you will find those effortless and chic looks. I'd head back in here before sweater season officially arrives to find some truly unique items.

Really? In the middle of downtown Milford? But, yes! A decent first starter boutique . So, so…read morefashions and one of a kind designs by Amy Kirchen. So, keep in mind that it is in "Milford". Although, it is in between Terrace Park and Indian Hill, it has yet to showcase a little more on the fashion end of things. I was excited to go and see what they had to offer. Once in there I was pleasantly surprised by the few things that I may have wanted to purchase. Unfortunately, the staff manages not to greet you nor do they ask if they can be of any assistance, therefore I walked out . Did not expect that from a small town boutique and size store. I will not be returning, and have crossed them off of my list of local boutiques to shop at. I will happily stick with the ones in Hyde Park, Madeira, and Mariemont. It would be sad to see a local business struggle only because of customer service.

I was shopping on Milford's Main St. last week and stopped in Amy Kirchen's boutique. The…read moreappearance from outside had me thinking I wouldn't be able to afford anything, not that I would have found a single article of clothing over a size 4 - but this was so not the case! Unlike the last reviewer, I had a fabulous experience! The sales girl (not the owner, I didn't meet her) was very pleasant and helpful. I was attempting to shop for Christmas gifts and asked her to try on a couple of items for me, as she was a similar build to my sister-in-law. She was more than accommodating. She also told me all about the designer, and that her studio was in the basement so most everything in her line was made on the premises. There were also several other clothing lines from small, independent designers from other areas of the country, like NY and Chicago, so everything was unique and many of the items were handmade. The store carried a range of sizes, and because the clothes are of designer quality they run true to size. Anyone from a size 0 to a size12 or 14 shouldn't have any trouble finding interesting, fashion-forward pieces that fit them. They do only purchase a few pieces of everything, so stock is limited, but I think it's nice to know you won't run into anyone else wearing the same outfit. And did I mention the prices? I expected to see $200, $300, $400 price tags but was pleasantly surprised. Now, I'm not saying theses are Walmart prices or anything, but for what you're getting, the prices were great. Many items were under $100. I looked at a Chanel inspired cropped jacket and expected to see at least $300 on the price tag and it was under $68! I also fell in love with the hand painted Picasso silk tops. I can't remember the price exactly but they were under $150, which is a great value. Amy Kirchen carries everything a girl needs to look her best (except shoes...and makeup...some of us need that too) including coats, dresses, sweaters and tops, pants and skirts, beautiful hand painted and felted scarves, one of a kind clutches and purses (leather and vegan materials), and gorgeous, statement-making jewelry. In my opinion, Amy is bringing high fashion to Cincinnati the right way - by keeping it small, independent, and affordable. I will definitely be making the (35 minute) trip out to Milford to shop in her boutique and would recommend it to everyone I know.
