I will share a story about how special this place really is when I was pregnant with my son I ate here all the time because I just loved it and all the staff would always ask how my pregnancy was and genuinely cared my son and I continued to always come here my son was an extremely picky eater and they would always go out of there way to prepare him something the way he would eat it down to cooking a hot dog in the microwave for 6seconds exactly to making different spaghetti sauce just the way he liked it. As you drive by, there is nothing about the exterior that would make you think you should stop, except the parking lot is full! Always a good sign. Upon entering, it is a dimly lit bar with booths and tables around the outside with a very laid back, dive bar feel. We were seated right away in a large booth. The staff was very friendly and share waitress/bartender/hostess duties amongst them so there is always someone willing to help. I had a hamburger pony with no bread and chili. This is a delicious burger patty served with lattice fries on top of it and then smothered in chili and cheese. Think chili cheese fries on top of your burger! It was as good as it sounds. My children had nachos and chicken tenders. They enjoyed them, but regretted not getting cheese burgers. I can't believe that I've lived in Macomb my entire life and never been to Jackson Street Pub. I'd heard coworkers talk about it and been curious, but still never made the trip over. My mom was coming in for a visit and asked if we could go here for lunch. She was craving the onion rings. Went to WIU and will never forget the amazing JSP! I just can't understand why horseshoes aren't a thing in Chicago, so I will always visit JSP when I visit friends in Macomb. The onion rings are to die for, and huge, for a great price. I usually get a chicken horseshoe with raw onion and tomato on top, but I've tried every kind and they're all delicious with good cuts of meat. The pony is plenty big but go for the horseshoe if you're wanting leftovers. I'd suggest this place to anyone and I think I'm about to go visit my friends soon because I want more! read more

Not a bad hidden gem for Macomb. However, you have to remember that this is probably one of the worst little towns in the world. So it doesn't really speak much to the competition here. That being said, it's a decent establishment. Pretty divey, but that's the charm here. Affordable beer with a passable selection. The horseshoes/ponies aren't all they're cracked up to be. They're likely derived from somebody's mother resorting to cooking this in order to shut their kid up. Effective and decently delicious, but the concoction is kinda silly. They're a coronary on a plate, which doesn't factor into my review here. But it's good to know. All in all, it's a decent place considering the town. read more

I am not ashamed to say that I absolutely love this place. If you are lucky enough to find it while cruising down the road (it is absolutely, positively tiny), than you, my friend, are blessed. This little gem is settled on a small parking lot and looks very rundown (at least it did when I attended WIU). The inside is small and dark, but that should not deter you from popping a squat and enjoying the delicious items they have available. The great thing about this place is that it is DELICIOUS and CHEAP! What more do you want? This is in no way a fancy man's restaurant. It is a Macombie Homie gem and is always filled with the most brilliant assortment of individuals. My food of choice was always the spaghetti or horseshoe and you cannot possibly go wrong with either. Their portions are large enough to fill your belly and leave you feeling satisfied. They also have a great bar with lots of typical drinks, but I cannot say too much more since my drink of choice there was either a whiskey or bloody mary! If you want comfort food that is good and cheap without all the frills of fancy suburban/city life, this is your place. If you want something else, than you are just zero fun to begin with. read more

I could eat a Jackson street pub hamburger everyday, not to mention the pork tenderloin, they beat the hell out of the bushnell meat locker as far as quality. If only they served ribs too! I've only been to this location twice, but I haven't been impressed either time I went. On the last visit, I ordered the hamburger pony and it was absolutely horrible. The hamburger patties weren't seasoned at all to the point of being inedible. The cheese was bland as well. The only decent thing about the meal was the waffle fries. The other complaint I had was that my waiter kept asking for me to give him the pin to my debit card. I guess he was being lazy and didn't want to take the time to let me enter it myself, but that is highly unprofessional to me. Furthermore, the staff kept complaining about customers they had previously that day and what kind of tips they were getting. That wasn't really the type of conversation I want to be surrounded by when I'm trying enjoy my meal. read more

The vibe of Jackson Street is totally right up my alley. Dark, dank, and inviting. Met a friend here for a few drinks during a recent visit to Macomb, and the bartender was pretty friendly. He was pretty accommodating too, as we had showed up about 45 minutes before they closed, and he let us stick around and chat while he swept and cleaned up around us. Can't mess up bottled beer either, so a good experience overall. read more

This place is just fine. Very much a small, local dive with straight forward food. One of those places where the salad is just shredded lettuce with dressing. this place may look unappealing from the outside, and you wouldn't think that it would have anything but subpar bar food, but trust me, the food is seriously AMAZING. just writing this review is torture because i'm craving a good ol cheeseburger from the Pub - the best cheeseburger i've ever had in my life (no joke.) you also have to try the cheese sauce with the seasoned fries - absolute heaven. i love how cozy and dark the inside of the Pub is. the staff is so incredibly friendly and personable. my boyfriend and i look forward to treating ourselves to eating here at least once a month! we love it! P.S. - whoever said this was Cardinals country needs to reevaluate what city Macomb is closer to the Cubs decor is perfect considering we have so many Chicago-ans who attend WIU. read more

I did not attend Western but my Husband told me this was a MUST. Not sure if it's my age but to me this place was just OK. The pony I had was delicious, don't get me wrong but the place is cramped, the bathroom is gross & I am not sure they have ever updated. It was all just "OK" for me... During my time at WIU, I did not have the chance to try this place until my senior year. I fully regret waiting that long. The burgers are fantastic. You have a pretty good range of toppings to choose from when ordering, and they always end up being delicious. I would even say they are the best tasting burgers in McDonough County. The seemingly reasonable prices are reflected on the size of the burger. But, the size is perfect for those with smaller appetites. Personally, I like to get two, and safe half of a burger for a tasty snack in the future. The pony shoes are also quite delicious here. I had relatives tell me about how amazing other restaurants' ponies were. Without a doubt, JSP trumps each and every one of them. The only negative thing I have to say about the place is that it is CASH ONLY. Not usually a fan of cash-only establishments, since all of my jobs have paid in direct deposit only.
