It is…read moreconveniently located in the downtown area of Marshall and a less than 5 minute drive off the interstate. This town has really taken care of its downtown area. I see so many towns that just let the old buildings deteriorate but Marshall has the feel of a thriving old time like the 50s and 60s when there were stores open in all the buildings. When I entered Samar's, the first thing that I noticed was the smell. The scent of root beer was strong. It might be from all the candy they had with plenty of choices. However, I was not looking for candy today, but a good ole fashion milkshake! Samar's proudly serves Hershey's ice cream and they had approximately 20 flavors. I went with one of my personal favorites, the Midnight Caramel which has dark chocolate, caramel, and vanilla mixed together. I also grabbed a bottle of water and with my milkshake, I spent under $5. It's very hard to beat that price for a milkshake and something extra. The owners, who I assumed, were the ones who made my milkshake for me, seems to be a husband and wife that were both very kind and personable. I hope their business thrives for years to come.

Everything is nicely packaged and labeled with ingredients. The popcorn, available in both sweet and savory flavors, tastes great--much better than that break-your-teeth stuff you can buy in bulk at the grocery store. Around $3-$6 for a small bag that one person could finish by himself, the offerings are pricey. Again, I only shop here for special occasions. I love that they also carry a small selection of specialty sodas. I drink pop almost never, but if I see a unique flavored pop in a bottle, I'm suddenly all about it. Here I've found Jones Soda flavors I've never seen before. They also sell greeting cards. See? A very present-friendly place. I've always received excellent customer service. The employees are friendly and available to answer questions. You are able to sample any of their popcorn flavors. I do wish they were more proactive about serving their caramel apples though. I bought one and asked "Can you cut it up?" The employee responded, "Yes, that's how I'd eat it." You missed my point, sir; I wanted to know if you could physically cut my apple so that I could conveniently eat it on my way home. Oh well.

I haven't used this service but they have items displayed in store that look really professional. I'll be honest, I have another preferred popcorn maker in the area. They've been here a few months and if you ask me, the key to their success so far is that delicious popcorn!!! Our favorite is "charamel" which is a caramel cheese mix with both flavors on 1 kernel- like a caramelized cheese corn!! Sounds weird at first but it's addictive! They of course have other flavors and appear to roll out new concoctions from time to time. Just tried their jala-ring charamel, which is their charamel with a zip of jalapeno flavor! They also have a drink cooler and sell sizes from a small individual bag to a massive jumbo bag. I saw over the holidays they did tins too. Their prices are extremely reasonable. I bought a bag of chipotle white cheddar, but also considered the churro popcorn, pina colada, birthday cake, and peanut butter flavors. The chipotle white cheddar popcorn was amazing. Definitely one of the best packaged flavored popcorns I've had - ever. The popcorn stayed crisp and fresh for several days after opening and was buttery tasting and delicious. I can't stop thinking about it so I'll have to get more soon! The store also carries lots of great gift baskets, popcorn supplies for home and for wholesale: popcorn poppers, lots of different types of popcorn containers/buckets/bags, kernels for popping your own at home, oil and seasonings, etc.! They will even help you create a popcorn bar for your events - great for weddings, grad parties, and other get togethers. I was really interested in some of the unique kernels they have available as I love making popcorn at home - the baby white rice variety might come home with me next time. I love the small 4 oz bags of kernels that they have, which is what I bought for my friend. It's the perfect amount to sample the different varieties to find your favorite. The employee who rang up my purchases was super polite and friendly, and then the best part - I was asked if I wanted some freshly popped popcorn to go! A free little treat that made my day.
