The breakfast was amazing, tasty, with 2 kind of eggs, bacon, parfait, Strawberries, kiwi, grapes, nuts, banana and cinnamon pastries, coffee and orange juice, we requested it into the room, it was very romantic (I came with my husband) 1 thing I will forever be super grateful is that in my mexican mind, a "detached bathroom" in a house would mean "detached from other rooms (like.. private to the room) upon arrival, our host wanted to made sure i meant to book a room with no bathroom inside... i messed up!! I would have never considered a romantic gateaway with my husband in a bedro with a bathroom outside!!! Great food (had eggs Benedict one morning and it was fantastic and Philly Cheesesteak with fries for dinner which was also great). They said they make the fries in house and they were really good. Had a bloody Mary one morning with breakfast and it was prepared really well. Despite it being really hot the weekend we were there, the AC kept the room very cool and comfortable. Lastly friendly and helpful staff.

That Saturday the temperature dropped about 40 degrees and the wind starting howling fiercely. Because of the weather we didn't get to participate in any outdoor activities, so I vowed we would make a return visit. Thanksgiving week of 2025, we got to bring our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons for a return visit to Wildcatter. I knew the ranch had been bought by a young couple about a year previously who wanted to upgrade some of the tired aspects of the ranch, so we were excited to explore all the offerings and see what had changed. The Wildcatter Ranch is set on a hill with beautiful views. There is plenty to explore so it is perfect for boys who revel in the outdoors. There is a fishing hole, there are horses in the stable to ride, there is basketball, tetherball, hiking, a pool and hot tub, and there are longhorns to feed each morning. These are all great activities we partook in. They supply guests with fishing poles, basketballs and towels for the pool. My disappointment? On both trips to the ranch, in all 3 cabins, the fireplaces did not seem to be working. (this is 3 cabins of about 12!) The hot tub that they told us we could use? Not working. The 'pony' ride for my grandson who is under 10, the age required for horse rides, that was advertised for 30 minutes? It was a 15 minute guided walk around a field on a horse. The 'hour' trail ride lasted 50 minutes. The session to 'learn grooming and care for a horse'? All three of us were literally handed brushes, told how to walk around the back of a horse, then left standing next to one horse to brush. The optional activities were a bit short on what was advertised, though both boys said their time with the horses was their favorite part of the visit. The steakhouse prices had gone up quite a bit since 2022. We can highly recommend the biscuits, however. They are heavenly.

When we checked into the Veranda Inn, everything appeared clean. We all went to sleep until 5:30 am when my children called me to tell me that there were bugs all over their beds. This was in Room 126. I went and picked up one of the bugs to take to reception. They agreed that it was a bed bug and said Monday morning the regular desk person would give me a refund. She swore that in the year she'd been there they had never had an issue like that before. Based on the fact that the mattresses were in zippered bags and there were tiny bed bugs and big bed bugs I doubted that was true but I let it go. I went and gathered our things to inspect them and placed our luggage in trash bags. We left at 7:30 am unshowered and exhausted. I didn't cause a scene and left thinking they were going to handle things. Instead on Monday I had to call them at 2 to ask what was going on and the receptionist said that they weren't going to give me a refund since they weren't going to charge me a $500 fee for smoking in the room. A blatant lie and the cameras can show him going outside to smoke. He refuses to throw his cigarette butts on the ground and instead brought them inside to the trash can. I've already reached out to the Health Department. Here are the pictures my son took of 6 separate bugs. And the multiple bites my daughter got.

I showed them pictures of the place and they couldn't give me a refund for some reason. I called the number to try and get one and they said it looks like I paid with cash but I paid with card. I'd sleep in my truck or under the interstate bridge before I ever stepped foot in this place again. It blows my mind they're still in business really.

I am with a group that we have nine rooms rented and one of our members was trying to use the charger when the general manager accosted them and was very abrupt. Whatever happened to the customer is always right or in our case the guest is always right I reserve this room a year ago and I realized that these are requests but I had three request on my reservation to be on one the top floor to the south end of the hallway and three facing west will G one out of three I guess is considered OK as I am on the north end of the hallway facing the highway. With a cheap construction of this building, I hear every car driving down the highway every kid accelerating from the red light which is 75 feet from the property and every 18 wheeler and motorcycle motorcyclist racing down Highway 180 towards Dallas. As for the facility, looking at my door from the inside, the bottom has at least a 3/8 inch gap where you can look out into the hallway. The carpet does not look like it has been cleaned in this room and at least six months. On the positive the breakfast this morning was very good. The lady that does the breakfast preparation. Does a great job. The room was clean up upon arrival and was tidied up again today very nicely done. Since being here with the group and a local organization, the local organization looked into five hotels. The Best Western here was the most expensive. Based on past experience, we all picked this hotel even though it was the most expensive. Big mistake. Have not met the new owner , but can see where the elevator button is incorrectly placed on the first floor and has a gaping hole into the Wiring, wallpaper is peeling off the hallway and the pool area. Definitely needs some maintenance and updating.
