From the moment you walk in, everything is incredibly clean, and the man working behind the counter was extremely attentive, friendly, and upbeat. I ordered the Tex-Mex Bowl, my husband got the Philly cheesesteak, and the kids had the chicken tenders with onion rings. Everything was delicious, and their homemade sauces were just as good! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, or you can get your food to go. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're passing through and looking for a great place to grab great quality food!

They're similar to Zaxby's but with a smaller menu -- chicken fingers only, pretty much. They do have chicken tender sandwiches and I think this location had salads, but -- you get the picture. Crinkle cut fries and slaw for sides, and a signature dipping sauce. My guess is a mayo/ketchup kind of deal with some peppery, garlicky flavors. It's good! This Guthrie's presented itself as an option on our way through town and we decided to indulge -- there isn't one where we live and I miss it from living in Tuscaloosa. Currently, this location offers drive through only. We sort of wanted to dine inside just to get out of the car, but it was okay. Prices are reasonable, I think, at around 10 per person. The drive through was a little slow, but we soon learned why -- our food was very fresh! So fresh husband burned the roof of his mouth on a tender, lol. Portions are large, fries were nicely salted, crispy tenders, and really delicious sweet tea. The extra ranch we asked for was also clearly made in house. Yay! The girls working the window were friendly and sweet. Overall, for what it is, Guthrie's is a solid chain and this is a solid representative of said chain. Give them a chance if you're passing through.

Shoals Shack was my personal choice, and I think I out bought the rest of our crew compared to the restaurant they chose. ;) it was so good! This is a small building on the outskirts of Florence. There's a little parking lot but it's carryout only. I was able to place my order online about 20 minutes before we got there. It was easy and you can even make modifications to your order, which is great! The website said my food wouldn't be ready till 1:45 (I think I ordered ~1:15 or so) but we pulled up at about 1:35 and it was waiting for me! I walked right up to the window and a friendly employee asked if I had an online order. I agreed and confirmed my name and the food was mine! Easy peasy and it was still super hot and not at all soggy. I ordered the Bella burger, which is a burger with mushrooms, Swiss, garlic mayo, and fried onion strings, though I asked for no onion strings on mine. I got a side of French fries and a cup of ranch for dipping. My order was made correctly. The fries were pretty basic but good -- hot, crispy, adequately salted. The ranch was delicious ranch and perfect for dipping. Unfortunately one of my fries did have a small, straight, dark hair attached to it. I'm not wildly squeamish about these sorts of things and it was sort of sitting by itself not touching other fries anyway, so I just chunked it and went about my business. This is really my only complaint for the whole experience. That burger...wow. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked, juicy, a little unctuous but not too much. Soft bun, not soggy, right amount of melt on the cheese, meaty mushrooms in the perfect proportion. And lastly, the garlic mayo really pulled it all together. It was creamy, not overly garlicky, and spread just enough to get a little bit in every bite. I will be hard-pressed not to return here when I'm next in the area. Truly, an awesome burger! I'd be curious to try their other menu items like chicken sandwiches or tacos as well. Thanks, Shoals Shack!
