What we didn't know was what a special place Kathy and Brad had created for their guests. Our adventure started once we headed up a gravel road. At first, we thought we'd take a wrong turn - but no sooner that thought than a sign on a tree, "Mountain Home Lodge 2.2miles." We knew we were on the right track. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Sierra and Millie, the MHL doggies. Brad came out with Carlos to say hi, ask if we needed anything- and loaded up our things to take to the cabin. Brad made sure we knew how the things worked, turned on the music, and left us to settle in. The cabin was perfect! Chairs in front of the fireplace, fluffy king-sized bed, large jacuzzi tub, rocking chairs and table on the porch, and a comfy couch in the loft to watch a movie. Small details were not missed - light toiletries, kurieg, and coffee. Blankets on every chair inside and out and plenty of towels. Did I mention the water pressure was awesome!? Around 5:30, we headed to the Lodge for appetizers prepared by Kathy- squash soup shots with crustini, cream cheese, strawberries, and a balsamic glaze. The view was amazing while we munched on our goodies. Kathy and Brad are so friendly and full of easy conversation. After appetizers, we headed back to our cabin and played a couple round of chess - the upstairs hutch had a few games for us to play. We fired up the jacuzzi tub and enjoyed a drink while basking in the mountain. Millie and Sierra stopped by to say goodnight, which we loved being dog people. We sat on the porch with them and watched the sky change from light to dark. In the mornings, there is a delightful breakfast offered. Everything was delicious. Kathy and Brad made lovely recommendations for things to do and food to eat. We were considering a hike, and millie and Sierra offered to come along. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for a hike- but we will definitely go with them next time! While we ate breakfast in the lodge, we decided to check out the mountain with the binoculars. I think my husband spent most of his time peering at the mountain with the binoculars at the Lodge and cabin. But like I said, the small touches make this place special. It's definitely a wonderful place to unplug. The quiet, views, and accommodations are amazing. I'm so happy to add Mountian Home Lodge to our not so far- feels like a real vacation getaways.

We JUST got home from MHL…read more My husband and I stayed two wonderful nights there, perched up on the mountain, away from the hustle and bustle of the Oktoberfest celebration going on downtown, but still close enough to walk in or take a cab (we did both) when we wanted to get in on the fun. As parents of a 3 year old and a 1 year old, we have not felt this relaxed in a LONG time. Brad and Kathy have thought of literally everything. Need a wine opener? No problem. Champagne chiller? You got it. Trail maps, walking sticks, snow shoes, movies to watch, games to play.... no problem. It's all there for guests to borrow. We stayed in the Mountain Trout room, which was nicely appointed with a queen bed, super plush carpet, comfy robes, oversized towels, and really nice sheets. As we were lucky enough to squeeze in after someone else canceled, we didn't get our pick of a room, but we didn't mind at all. Included in our rate was a healthy and delicious breakfast made by the lodge chef, using many ingredients harvested from the property. We were also treated to complimentary appetizers and wine in the evenings. It was divine. Brad and Kathy take great pride in the lodge and love to share their knowledge of the local area, from where to have dinner or where to hike. Like another reviewer said; nothing feels fake. You feel like a welcomed guest in a very comfortable setting, and you leave feeling like you have made new friends. A nice touch was the balloons that were in our room upon our arrival. They knew we were there for an anniversary and this was a very sweet gesture. We also found a small bottle of port waiting for us in our room each evening. A typical day was waking up, enjoying the lovely breakfast and views, chatting with the hosts and other guests, hiking the trails immediately behind the lodge (We did the Peshastin Lookout; approximately 5 miles RT and spectacular) with the resident dog "Millie", coming back for a soak in the outdoor hot tub, then walking or driving into downtown for shopping, dinner (if not eating at the lodge), or Oktoberfest shenanigans, then back to the lodge for a game of cards in the media room. Repeat. We would come back to MHL a million times over. 5 stars all the way around. Thank you so very much!

I stayed here to explore some of Eastern Washington, small western towns, a weekend away from the hurly-burly of downtown Redmond (tongue firmly in cheek). The owners have maintained the old-world feel of the Hotel without sacrificing essential amenities (there are showers, radios and wireless internet access). Hoorah! Rusty old Deere tractors stand each side of the hotel, like the wild west equivalent of classic Greek lions. The Lobby has a large dose of the obligatory 'stuffed' animals shot by the locals. Most rooms share bathroom facilities at the end of the corridor. This is not the place to come if you need cable TV, a phone in your room and an en-suite shower. I paid a wee premium to have one of the rooms with an en-suite clawfoot bath. I suspect the owners liked my accent because when I checked-in they gave me a discount on the pre-agreed prIce. The attention to detail was impressive, furniture, beds, baths, sinks, light fittings, all clearly turn of the century or 'in the style of'. Electric lights with fittings that looked 'gas' style.. The hotel has modern air-circulation heating with older radiators still in place. They are beautiful cast iron artifacts. I ran a bath, with my hand under the hot water I waited nearly 15 minutes before the water warmed-up. I remember thif from living in an large old house in the UK where the Hot water tank was so far away from the bath that the it took nearly 20 minutes before the cold water in waiting in the pipes ran through, then the warm water lost it heat while travelling the cold pipes to the bath. It was worth the wait. Plenty of hot-water to fill the large bath and bubble-bath supplied. The hotel owners checked in on the quality of my visit whenever I stopped off in the lobby or shared lounge. Very friendly and helpful. It felt more like a bed and breakfast, a family business, than a hotel. Waterville fits my stereo-type of a small western American town. Houses with big porches, loud dogs, camoflauge painted pick-up trucks. One bar with friendly staff, drunken clientelle (It was Cinco De Mayo), and fancy hand-made burgers. YUM-ME! Not really much to do in the town, but that was exactly what I was looking for.... Why not 5 stars? The breakfast was a little light - one big muffin in a tuppaware container and a mug of filter coffee.

You check out of the room by 11 and the hotel by 11... there your problem is solved. Please don't embarrass us Romanians like that next time and listen to your wife about not being rude to staff (this was when we were in the sauna and you just couldn't seem to stop talking)... I tried so hard not to pay attention to you but you couldn't help but draw attention to yourself. Next time please be quieter or just don't talk at all. I know this is embarrassing for you. Everything at this hotel is EXCELLENT as usual. The only thing that made it less excellent was your complaining. I can already see the future, you calling the hotel to complain about my review because I'm 100% sure you're about to post a complaint and will stumble upon this... please when you call to complain to the hotel about my review, will you let them know you're the short Romania man that I'm talking about...... who complained about having to check out of the room and still being allowed to use the amenities. Salute. Pool staff is excellent, they stay very professional and have classy behavior. The only time we've had issues at the pool is when there are needy guest. They draw so much attention to themselves when we're just trying to relax. Thankfully it's only been a few of the times we've been there. These people usually strike me as those less fortunate in spirit and at the bank. It's clear they over extended their bank account and are trying to milk it for every cent. I wish I could tell them to just go home but that would be giving them the attention they desperately seek.. and I'm sure would cause the staff more issues. Reception and dinning staff also excellent. They are very professional and kind. I've gotten so used to coming here I hate to say I have forgotten some of the formalities like waiting to be seated in the dinning room but the staff didn't make me feel bad for it. I was just very embarrassed. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. I wish I could take this hotel home with me every time I leave.

This place is over the top incredible! Paragraph the rooms are very nicely appointed, with lots of space to spread out, many have balconies, and almost all have very nice showers and soaking tubs. The TVs are fine, but you really shouldn't be here for the TVs! The main attraction here, hopefully other than your spouse, is the refresh and relaxation area, which includes tons of different heated, cooled, nice smelling, and otherwise luxurious rooms where your job is to relax. They have an incredible, indoor outdoor pool, hot tubs, huge lounge chairs, and really just about anything that you could imagine to help you relax. Whether you want to sit in a hot Norwegian sauna or a cool room that smells like mint, or a steam room that smells of lavender, the world is your proverbial oyster! The big hack here is that you are able to check in in the early afternoon, enjoy the spa for most of the afternoon, have yourself a lovely evening, and then enjoy the spa until the early afternoon the next day. Well, it's only 24 hours, it feels like you're there for two days. The breakfast and dinner options are quite delightful as they have really up to the food game here over the past few years. There are some fun restaurants around town, but despite our persistent desire to find new places, we ended up just eating here the last time we were in town. Overall, there's no reason they shouldn't be a place that you absolutely love! You definitely pay for what you get and what you get is phenomenal!

She had a friend who was with her next to the front desk with a glass of wine. That was weird. The friend didn't say hi which is why I'm assuming she was not a staff member. She looked up at us when we walked in and I had to tell her we were checking in. She walked us through the property amenities and then sent us on our way. We returned the next day to use the gym and asked to confirm my spa appointment. She confirmed the time but not whether the 90 min was confirmed (we had called previously to extend to 90 min). We went to use the gym and when we came back down she was socializing with a coworker. She only came back to the front desk once we walked up to it to ask for extra towels. We also let her know we never got an email for the spa form. She had resent it before we headed to the gym. Her response, "that's weird." The hotel can't even figure out their email system. The gym is very minimal. There is a treadmill that is broken (stuck on incline) and dirty yoga mats. No water. No towels. There is a shower. When I arrived at the spa no one was manning the front desk. My massage therapist popped in and checked me in, apologizing that there was no one at the front desk. It was only after I checked in that the front desk person showed up. My massage therapist was very good. She accommodated a 90 minute session when I mentioned I requested it but did not get it. She also went over which I appreciated. Her name is Angela. Very experienced and highly recommend. We intended to eat at their bar where we enjoyed their pizza last year. The bartender informed us that because there is a private party that the kitchen won't be open till 7pm. I replied, "that's too bad as we enjoyed the pizzas last year. The bartender said that pizzas were not available till May. I let him know last year in March there were pizzas available. He thought it was odd as he knew of it as a summer thing. This made me think they were cutting down on costs again as they don't need to fire up their pizza oven. Checked out with same front desk lady. She just looks at me. No proactive greeting. The service here is severely lacking unfortunately. It does not feel like a top notch resort. I will not be back next year and will look somewhere else for my annual weekend getaway.

We could see the pool and the river. I watched the sunrise from here and it was incredible. The wedding was in the event tent, which was warm and wind resistant because we had strong winds that night. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The service throughout the resort was also excellent. My husband attends a physical therapy conference here every year, and the staff always does a great job taking care of everyone and making the event run smoothly. The only downside would be that the rooms are starting to show their age. As a business owner myself, I completely understand that renovating and updating an entire property is a big financial decision. That said, it does feel like the rooms are reaching the point where a refresh would really elevate the experience. I imagine that will happen eventually. One of the highlights of the stay was the restaurant, which is just steps away from the rooms. We ate there multiple times and every single thing we ordered was really good. The quality of the food was consistently excellent and the servers were kind and attentive. So very fun. We have not been able to come back for about 10 years. We were looking forward to our, now adult and married, children being together (separate rooms), hoping to start a second generation of this tradition. The day my husband and I checked in we noticed an odor in our room as soon as we walked in the door. I checked to see there were no old garbage or damp used towels. I put baking soda down all the drains. I looked everywhere, but could not discern where the odor was coming from. It never went away. Very sad. We were also disappointed in the restaurant upstairs. The service was extraordinarily slow. The food was ho-hum. The hollandaise sauce was tasteless. Please, please fix this!!!
