I'd been looking for a new dry cleaner for a while and, based on great reviews on Yelp, decided to give Jack's a try. My impression on dropping off my items was good. Whoever I've dealt with there has been really friendly and prices seemed decent. Unfortunately I was really disappointed with the actual quality of the dry cleaning. All my items came back with an unpleasant smell, especially the sweaters and, to a lesser extent, blazers. It's not a chemical smell, more like a bit musty or when you get an item that's been sat in someone else's house for a while. I've worn the sweaters outside and had everything airing for around a week but the smell is still noticeable. Basically I've concluded that I'm going to have to get everything redone elsewhere so unfortunately this experience was a total waste of time and money. I really wanted to like Jack's, and it may very well be fine for laundry, but sadly this is probably my worst dry cleaning experience in SF. If this is their regular service I'm surprised nobody else called it out in the reviews. read more

I have been a client here since 2018 and I cannot speak highly enough of this place. This is a local small-family business that knows their craft and take great care of me and my clothes. The staff is friendly, they know your name, and they remember your preferences. They also inspect clothes one-by-one to ensure they do not put something on the dryer that should air dry. They are experts in recognizing fabric and their corresponding treatment. Frankly, I moved away from SF for 6 months in 2022 and I missed them! I've gone to Jack's Laundry for dry cleaning and tailoring over the years - from bridesmaid dresses to jump suits! They are dependable and my clothes have always been ready for pickup when they say. There is a 15% discount for new customers too. They have always been kind and knowledgeable. The guy today was sharing with a customer how valuable and delicate her garment from Asia was, handmade garments only made for royalty in China and Japan. He declined to dry clean it for that reason - which shows their honesty and expertise! I've had a bunch of dry cleaning done and routinely have shirts laundered and it's always been top notch! Their tailoring is also excellent. I am APPALLED that I have to even write this review. As a small business owner myself, I cannot even begin to tell you how poorly we were treated by these people who also own a small business. My wife dropped off 2 items on Wednesday to be Hemmed. They advised to pick up the following Saturday 4-5pm. My wife informed them with great urgency that she needed these items NO Later Than Saturday. Jack's laundry promised us the items would be fine and ready. We believed them as we have never had a problem before. When my wife arrived at 345pm, just before the time they asked us to arrive, they were closed and had a sign up that said "Yearly Maintenance closed Saturday 9-4" My wife was a mess. She was hysterical. She needed these items to land an important job since she had been laid off since the pandemic. She called and called and left a message to no avail. Sunday comes and she has the interview in LA and still no response. She called and left another message. Fast forward to today ( the FOLLOWING FRIDAY) and we STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM JACKS LAUNDRY!! We call today and UNBELIEVABLY they called us LIARS, said that they and their employees were there, said they make mistakes some times, said they were open the whole time and then called us DELUSIONAL! They even told us they don't check their messages bc too many people prank them so they don't check their messages??? The male owner then said his brother was there and prob left early and it's not their fault. Then told us the sign in their door was fake and we put it there. We respectfully asked them why we would go to so much trouble to lie to them about this when all we needed were the two items we dropped off? They had no answer. We came by to grab our items today and were COMPLETELY DISRESPECTED, YELLED AT and told we could never use them again after they told us they were open the whole day Saturday and we must have come too late for pick up! We told them we have A picture of their closed store, lights out, with zero people inside and a NOTE THATS SAYS THEYRE CLOSED! With a TIME STAMP! Lady refused to look at it. They gaslighted us until we were in tears. DONT USE JACKS! Probably top 10 worst customer service experiences we have ever had in the 25 years we have lived in SF. Never again. NOTE TO OWNER: next time you run into this problem, and I'm sure you will based on your response, I'll give you a tip from One small business owner to another: just apologize to your customer, don't make them pay for the service you fckd up, and offer a free hem or dry clean on your next visit and you won't have these terrible reviews. The prices are fair, the services is good, and quality of their work is great. I particularly enjoy how communicative they are with me. * It pains me to write a negative review of a local small business. But the people from Jack's have been astoundingly combative, unprofessional & insulting. Their behavior has been downright bizarre. I wish I could post the video of my interaction w them today. Just know that if they make a mistake or randomly close on the day your order is to be picked up they consider it 100% your problem and if you complain or write an accurate negative review they're going to angrily let you know how wrong you are** I took 2 theatre costumes to be hemmed on Wed 10/20. I was told to p/u on Sat 10/23 btwn 4-5. I was due to perform in these costumes Sun 10/24. Sat 10/23 at 3:45 I arrived at Jack's Laundry to find it closed lights off door locked w a sign saying they were closed for "Yearly maintenance from 9-4". Thinking they may be back at 5, I waited. They never opened. I left msgs Sat & Sun asking for a response, they never called. I scrambled to find suitable substitutes for costumes & almost got fired from 1st job I've had in months. When I returned from LA today I still hadn't heard from them. I called explained the situation & was told I was WRONG, the owner claimed his brother was here Sat & they were only closed from 4-5 & They didn't check msgs bc they "get too many prank calls". I told them I had photos of the store closed & sign. Guy never admitted wrong doing, never apologized or tried to rectify situation just argued w me. I've been going to Jack's for the last 8 months and am consistently happy with the service. I use the wash and fold service and it's great---folded meticulously, always done within 24 hours, drop off and pick up are super quick. The owners are so nice and friendly. One time I had major kitchen spill and brought the linens in, and they offered to clean it right away if i was worried about staining. I've also used the tailoring services for a vintage dress and was really happy with the results and customization that they were able to do. read more

I had a special occasion dress I needed altered and hemmed, and was a bit worried abut the tight turnaround between getting the dress/alterations/travel/wedding, but and it was really straightforward to get taken care of. Everything I needed was ready on time and fit great. Their wash & fold service is the other main reason I go to Jack's. The owners are very kind and thoughtful, and they turn things around really quickly and at a good price. They've even let me know for more delicate items that they're happy to hang dry and such. Overall review: a quick, professional, and friendly place for dry cleaning. They did a quick job beautifully on some important pieces and charged a very reasonable price, and really stand out against competitors in the Mission district. The context: I had just returned from a trip to Hawaii and I had gotten dirrrrty in the rain and mud of the jungle. The last place we stayed was an Airbnb that was a beautiful indoor/outdoor space, and as gorgeous as it was, we got the authentic "outdoor living" experience and were feasted on by bugs. We reaaally wanted to make sure we hadn't tracked anything back to the mainland ASAP, but I was only staying in San Francisco for two days. The folks here were so accommodating of my timeline (I dropped off two dresses, two shirts and some pants on Friday, and got them back on Monday), and when something came up and I had to leave early, were flexible enough for my partner to pick up the items much later than originally intended. Jack's is run by absolutely delightful and friendly human beings who have always been responsive to and accommodating of our needs. Sue is who usually meets and greets me. She is almost part of the family, I know her whole family and sons. She is born the year of the Dragon. The Dragon personality is a creature of myth and legend. I have been going to her for over 7 years. She is the best wash and fold I have ever been to. She has hemmed pants, repaired buttons. If you come in early enough you can get 24 turn around. I laughed at some of the people on Yelp who posted their Prada jeans, and new shirts where not the same as new. I though no duh! I hand wash my delicates and valuables items. If you don't wanted something to be effected don't wash them. No fabric no matter how cheap or expensive can stay the same. I dry clean items or do the laundry out option for more delicate items and have never been disappointed here. I have gone to Castro Cleaners, and paid oodles for my high value clothing items and they are still are not the same after they have been laundered. Fabrics break down its a fact! When my jeans get stretched out and need to get tightened I throw them in the laundry. When I want the item to be least effected I get shirts laundered and starched, and for fine items dry cleaned. I can say they never ruined any item of mine. Since I am in charge of what i item I get cleaned I decide the process, so I am responsible for the treatment. She offers cold wash laundry options as well. But again if you are a diva, or OCD, please save yourself the time and spot clean your items at home. That way they will stay the same. I have been coming to Jack's for 25 years now. It's true that they lost a couple of my socks 15 years ago, but who cares? The service is good, they are always on time, it's a lovely family owned small business, and they don't use any nasty chemicals. Besides, I might very well have lost those socks myself. This place is wonderful. I brought in a dress that a coworker let me borrow for a wedding. After I washed it I accidentally ripped the dress. Not even when I was wearing it but of course when I go to pull it out of her washer bam ripped at the top of the slit. I thought I was screwed and felt so guilty! I looked up best tailors in the city and Jack's came up. I came in so desperate hoping they can fix it. They looked it over, gave me some much needed reassurance, and said it was an easy fix no problem. They were so right I couldn't even tell where on the dress the rip was. I had a great experience at Jack's Laundry! I took clothes here to be dry cleaned, repaired, and even a leather coat to be cleaned and renewed. Everything was as good as new when we got it back, and they even gave us a discount! Very sweet and knowledge people. They are the nicest people and they are CHEAP compared to other cleaners in town. Trust me -- I've called around for prices. The one downside is that they only take cash. I have had my laundry done by the same two quirky ladies for years so when they closed down I was at a loss what to do! Jack's is right down the street and since the reviews were so positive I thought I would check it out. Well, they really deserve the positive reviews. In fact, if I could give them a bonus star I would. They did an excellent job with my laundry and did it very very quickly. I was very impressed that they asked me whether I would like bleach, etc. What is also nice is that they have 10 minute parking in front so if you are driving you can easily pick up your clothes without being one of the selfish annoying people that double park. I have a granny shopping cart and they let me keep it there while my laundry was done. All I had to do is pick it up on the way home. I 100% recommend this place. They are really great. read more

I called them at 2:30pm on the 4th of July weekend, asking if (a) they were open, (b) they did alterations, (c) if they did same-day service, and (d) if they could fix my dress in 3 hours. Yes to all of the above. Then my plans changed, and I called back, asking if they could have it ready half an hour earlier than I'd said. They said no problem. They fixed my dress, which involved complicated stitching inside a seam, in record time, were very friendly, and charged me a pittance. Amazing. read more

Five stars for pleasant, fast service, I love the fact that my clothes are folded exactly the same every time. That gives my closet the illusion it's all nicely maintained when I actually put my laundry away! I'd almost deduct a star for the location... Yes, it's conveniently located down the hill and around the corner which means exercise for my lazy rear. However, evil dog owners like to stroll up and down Noe leaving steaming piles for the rest of us to step in. I love this place. I'm allergic to most scented detergents, so I bring my own detergent packets. Today when I dropped off my clothes, I realized that I had forgotten the packets. :-( But the owner showed me that she had saved the extra packets I had brought the last time. So I didn't have to go all the way back home, and walk back to the laundromat. I rarely, rarely leave reviews but I had to commend Jack's for their incredible service and good work. I brought a few pieces of formal wear to have taken in (including some suit pants from 30 pounds ago) and they were able to get the clothes altered in time for a wedding. For a dramatic taking in of pants and jacket, it cost me about 60 bucks and the suit looks better on me than a really expensive suit I tried on at Neiman. Save yourself the money and have your formal wear altered here (instead of buying new)! read more
