I was told that the ladder on the boat was an item that breaks a lot and that I should really get their insurance in case I break it. I declined again saying that we will make sure not to break the ladder. After the boat had been dropped off after use, a few staff members were whispering and pointing during the after-rental checks. I asked what the issue was, and they tried to explain that I broke the ladder and it will cost me $1000. I told them I made sure the ladder was up before driving and that we did nothing to break it and they continued whispering and pointing but ultimately decided that "the pictures they took were wrong" and that I did not break the ladder. (pretty sure they would have scammed me for breaking this ladder if I had not been watching them during the checks). This whole experience is a shame because everything else about the rental was exceptional. The boat was very nice, timely customer service and very helpful staff.

The things I would like to see improved: The boat is very old and could use a deep cleaning as evidenced by the dead bugs lining the windows obscuring the view. The tabletops were sticky. There was a large wad of gum under one of the tables that I accidently touched. Unfortunately there was a fish kill occurring during the time we went on our ride and there were floating dead fish everywhere. My kid daughter asked the crew about it, but no one addressed it and it left her sad.

Located just south of town, it is fairly easy to reach by car and has plenty of parking available near the overlook. From the top, you are rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of downtown Hannibal, the Mississippi River, and the surrounding countryside. It really gives you a sense of the city's location along the river and helps put the rest of your visit into perspective. The overlook itself is well maintained and features a historical plaque telling the legend of Lover's Leap. Whether the story is fact or folklore, it is an interesting and romantic tale that adds a special touch to the visit and is worth taking a few minutes to read. One feature I particularly enjoyed was the pair of large heart-shaped sculptures covered with hundreds of "love locks" left by visiting couples. It was fun to walk around them and see all the locks that people had placed there over the years, adding another layer of history and memories to the site. The peaceful setting, scenic overlook, and interesting legend make this much more than just a roadside stop. Overall, I thought it was a very enjoyable visit and an excellent first stop before exploring Hannibal. If you're visiting the area, I would certainly recommend taking a few minutes to stop here, enjoy the story, admire the view, and capture a few photographs before continuing into town. Enjoy!

We came here and wanted to do both the bumper boats and mini golf, but my daughter was hungry and there was a long line for golf. We were told that Sawyer's Creek just reopened about a week ago after extensive renovations (and much more to come). The place is nicely done and you could tell the new owners placed a lot of money and effort into fixing it up. The owners also own the Mark Twain Cave Complex. We did the bumper boats which lasted about 10ish minutes. It was fun, the place is clean, the staff were nice, and the pricing was affordable. Their current hours are limited and they're only open Fri-Sun, so check their new website or Facebook page for updates!
