So glad Jack's Bao is back! This is my granddaughter Johanna's favorite eatery. She just loves the Pork Dumplings and their flavorful drinks. Thank you for reopening! Our server was so welcoming and kind. We will be back for more. Bless you.

A fast but not so inexpensive or crave worthy option. They have a somewhat limited menu of various Shanghainese noodles and dumplings. Came here for lunch the other day and ordered the Pork Rib Noodle ($17). It was just ok. One medium sized pork rib, some bock choy veggie and lots of noodle. Taste was decent, and noodles had good bite and texture. However, for something close to $20 for lunch, I do need more protein so this was not substantial enough for me. I would have ordered a small wonton, dumpling or pork bun appetizer to supplement, but the only options on the menu were servings for $13-15 portions which would have made my lunch $30+, do I didn't try them. For the price, I can get much better value and quality over in the SF South Bay. Indoor dining only. Order at the counter and they'll bring you your order to the table. Not sure I'd be back any time soon.

Jack's Bao has reopened. I actually had not tried them the first time they opened as all of their dishes seemed to be pork and my husband doesn't like pork. This time they have a wider variety of meats and also vegetarian options. We tried the chili oil wontons and the braised beef soup. The soup was large enough for two people and had a flavor profile similar to pho. Our favorite this meal were the chili oil wontons, they were flavorful and had some spiciness without being overpowering. Mostly they had a mix of spices and were topped with cilantro and scallions. The person at the front counter was very sweet and patient. We came about thirty minutes before they closed and took our order to go. The food was packed nicely and they added a variety of sauces, soy based, chili oil and some other chili sauce and utensils. The place was clean and the order came out quickly. It is by no means a fancy place but definitely a good place to grab a casual meal. I am excited to go again at an earlier hour as they have milk tea and some other drinks, including bottled Asian drinks that looked delicious. I forgot to take pictures of the food but the new menu is below, it isn't the best as it was meant for a text to a family member. Hopefully it helps you make a decision to give it a try. We need more variety in the area.

Our meal was delicious as expected. Very clean all around. Was impressed with the service. We thought they had boba drinks, but they don't.

Steamed Pork Bao and Steamed Veggie Bao

At first glance, the food at Jack's Bao looks incredible, and the ambiance of the place is inviting. However, the staff seemed inattentive, which detracted from the overall experience. The photos of the Bao were promising, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The noodles in the pork rib noodle soup were the highlight of the meal, but the BBQ Steamed Pork Bao lacked any discernible BBQ flavor and felt more like a plain pork meatball. Similarly, the veggie Bao was underwhelming. While the Bao bun itself was well-made, the fillings left much to be desired. After trying three dishes and spending over $50, I found my wife and myself only eating 2 out of 6 Bao buns and a small portion of the soup. With a name like "Jack's Bao," I expected a top-tier experience, but sadly, it fell short.

Seating design and atmosphere, very simplistic yet modern.

I created an account just to leave a review! It was that good! I had the fried wontons with pork. They were so good! Im big on texture, between the crunchy exterior, soft and supple inside, and richness of the addition of soy sauce, this meal was spectacular. There was freshly chopped green onions which also gave it a nice change in consistency. Pros: -Quick -Delicious -Wonderful presentation -Beautiful open seating -Definitely made from scratch, since you can actually look through the kitchen serving window and see them working. -Perfect for family of four seating Cons -Awkward temporary closing times (late lunch is a no go with downtime from 2-4 on weekdays it seems) but if you plan around it, it doesn't matter.

Wow this place is amazing! Such a different kind of food for Aptos, Shanghai style and very fresh and delicious. I took my whole family here and even my youngest kid who is very picky went nuts for this place. We will be eating here a lot! Service was great and I loved the modern decor. Highly recommended.

I've been looking for a solid go-to Chinese takeout spot for a while, and this place absolutely knocks it out of the park. Do yourself a favor and order the Szechuan Boiled Fish (Sichuan Shui Zhu Yu). It is insanely flavorful, perfectly spicy, and easily one of the most legit, authentic Chinese dishes I've had in the area. If you prefer the classic American-Chinese comfort staples, those hit the spot too. The Kung Pao has the perfect balance, the potstickers taste completely house-made, and my family is obsessed with their chow mein.  The ingredients are always fresh (especially the veggies and seafood, try the fried prawns!), and the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. Great portions, amazing value (especially the lunch combos).

First, I…read morewill say that in the Aptos area this is far better than anything in this town, and way better than Panda Inn. I probably should have just picked up the order because $80 for Chinese food for two people is a bit steep and honestly ridiculous. The first negative thing is the fact that we ordered pork fried rice and ended up getting the fried rice but with chicken instead so OK, edible, but there is something about pork fried rice that I really like so that was disappointing. Also ordered their vegetable green bean with garlic sauce dish, and the green beans were cooked nicely although a side order of green beans for $16? Yes, I made the decision to order simply because I wanted a veggie with the rest of the meal. I ordered a chicken breast dish that was coated in some sort of a Panko-ish crunch. That was good although I wasn't expecting it to be fried. When you're hungry, you just eat it anyway... Truth. also had the potstickers which were typical nothing special, although they did serve it with some sort of a hot pepper sauce, which was good although the seeds in it were quite tough. They also pack a little container of what looked like white vinegar weird not at all like what you would normally have. We will probably try again as we explore the menu, but I will definitely pick up next time. Oh and finally with an order that clearly served two people they throw in one fortune cookie. How cheap is that? Jury is still majorly out on this place, but just wanted to share for now.

The dishes we ordered were packed to the brim, and we are talking SO packed that the bag had sauce at the bottom that it made a mess of the boxes, sauce packets and fortune cookies (though YAY for getting fortune cookies). The fried rice was the surprising hit of the 3 dishes we ordered because it wasn't greasy and had the right balance of flavor. The chicken chow fun had noodles clumped together and a little bit of veggies, but somehow it tasted like it was missing something. I had to reach for hot sauce, which I rarely do since I don't like spicy foods! When ordering online, there was a comment section where I asked for utensils, but alas -- there were no utensils to be found. Other positives: - The people inside were friendly during pickup, and there were several customers inside already, so it was nice to see they were on top of customer service. - The restaurant is located in the adorable Seascape Village so you can walk around or have a drink before/after. So fun! - Easy parking because there's a large lot. **One thing to note when ordering To-Go** They had an AUTOMATIC 10% tip added to the order, so be aware of that before submitting your order in case you didn't want to tip or tip that amount. I was surprised to see that added to my bill without my knowledge.

We were staying in Aptos for a family reunion and after extending our trip, my husband and I were looking for a good Chinese restaurant. There were many reviews that were mixed and after I read the review reviews for Ming's,I decided that we should try it. I didn't feel like getting ready so we parked in the parking lot and my husband went to go pick up the order. When he came back, I couldn't believe how much food there was and how little we spent. We are from San Jose but every time we get a craving for Chinese food, we literally want to drive up the hill! The reason I'm finally writing this review is because I wanted to make sure they were still open and went onto Yelp to check the hours and decided I should write the review so everyone knows how delicious it is. We've had everything from the fried wontons to chicken salad, barbecued pork, fried rice, beef, and broccoli, lemon, chicken, sweet-and-sour pork and chicken chow mein. We are coming back to the Santa Cruz area tomorrow and you can bet we will be enjoying Ming's!
