Second, definitely negotiate. Lastly, if you like picking for stuff, you can find something. It's a lot of junk, but treasure is in the eye of the beholder, especially if you like tsotchkes. I ended up with a hand painted wooden duck decoy from 1981. It's def someone who randomly painted one, and not a priceless artifact, but I'm ok with that. I also ended up getting an old framed small print of a poem, and a vintage Thomas Stanley travel alarm clock that's currently not working, hopefully due to an old battery, but if it's up and running, I saw them on Etsy for $50. All three treasures for the price of $15! Overall, a gem of a store if you are nearby and have a few minutes to explore.

He's always patient, happy to answer questions, and never ever pressures anyone to buy anything. It actually feels like you're visiting a collector's den or small museum where most things just happen to be for sale. I've learned a lot about textiles, woven blankets, and handmade quilts from Kingsley and am thankful for the time he took to get his newly acquired "baby" out of the back to show me. We both have a fascination with learning how things are made and we're dazzled by the work on this one. Speaking of "how things are made": he knows a guy named Cort that fixes and cleans old pocket and wrist watches. I bought an antique pocket watch from him a few years ago at a great price and it keeps time perfectly. I had also requested/mentioned I was looking for a specific vintage watch and he found one! Once again: great price. There have been slight issues with watch repair only because of the pandemic making many parts hard to find. I heard that the main source to get things may be or has already closed for good. It's rare to find people and items like the ones you'll find in this shop. Stop by and you'll find something interesting and beautiful, and most likely learn something new!

But as you make your way through you'll start finding goody after goody after goody. Kitchenware, décor, industrial elements, ephemera, jewelry, linens, repurposed items, fashion accessories, small furnishings, toys...you name it! I was so sure it was going to be a quick in-and-out that I didn't even put money in the parking meter. I ended up staying much longer than I expected and finding close to a dozen things I really, really wanted, all of them at very reasonable prices. In the end I settled on two items: a lidded piece from a Pyrex refrigerator set (in a rare color) and a ball bearing clip (so much more interesting for my chip bag than a binder clip). I saw lots of gift-worthy selections so I will most certainly be back. Especially since those gifts will be for yours truly. What?
