We visited this location after first going to the N. Lindbergh site in St. Louis. We were particularly interested in upholstery fabric and holy moly they have a ton here! My daughter is reupholstering part of a velvet sofa that she found (there's slight damage to just a couple front edges) and there was so much that she called time out as she was getting so overwhelmed by the selection. The last time I was in NYC, I went to Zarin Fabric which has amazing upholstery fabric. I found some fabric here that I had gotten swatches of at Zarin Fabric! The prices were also very reasonable. I'm so excited that this is fairly nearby (about 35 mins)! read more

I can't say enough about the women who work here! Paula has a wonderful eye and tremendous skill in assisting with matching colors, measurements or ANYTHING else you might need. She seriously listens to you and quickly learns what you may like or not like. She clearly enjoys her job, has a fantastic attitude and a smile on her face. This fabric store is wonderful! I went in recently looking for upholstery fabric and Patti was there to help me out. I took my time, looked at everything they had, and came back to Patti with some questions. She not only answered me but went above and beyond to provide options for what I wanted. She was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. While I am very happy with my purchases, working with Patti was the delight that made my day. I went in, needing certain buttons for my daughter's school uniform. A kind employee named Jane, helped me find buttons. I explained how I needed to hand-sew and make alterations to her uniform. (Rebekah is 4-1/2 yrs old and wears a 2T. Jane had Rebekah model her jumper, while Jane explained how to sew the alterations. She pinned her jumper, showing enormous patience to an antsy child. She told me where to put the stitches; how deep to overlap the fabric; how to use candlewax for extra tensile strength. I felt as though my mom's and grandma's sewing souls had come to visit and help me. Thanks to Jane, my daughter's uniform will not look like the oversized 4/5 jumper (smallest size sold) but like a proper uniform jumper. I left there feeling confident about the sewing ahead of me. This place is a little more on the expensive side for fabric, but if you're looking for some higher end designer fabrics for quilting, this is the place to come. They carry Moda fabrics. My favorite in particular is Kate Spain's Fandango. I had a few questions for the woman who was working behind the counter at Jackmans. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. She told me they have a quilting "show and tell" at 1pm certain weekdays that are free and you are welcome to bring in what you have and ask questions. I came here to look for sequin fabric (the kind that has pailletes) & couldn't find any at this store. I had expected to find a version of Mood Fabrics (the place that is frequently featured on Project Runway) only I was disappointed when I came to Jackman's. The selection is okay. The staff was very helpful. There is a great variety of home decor fabrics. If you are quilting, this is the place to shop. They have sewing machines & sewing classes, which I might partake in the near future. If you are looking for fabric to sew clothes, I would suggest going to Jo-Ann's Fabrics instead of coming here. read more

Jackman's Fabrics is an awesome store! I have been to both stores and even though I live in St Louis, the Fairview Heights store is the one I go to! Sure, you can buy cheaper fabric at big box places like Joann's but it won't be the same quality. My first purchase were some fat quarters and I couldn't stop touching them once I got to the car! So soft! I purchased my embroidery machine from the store as well and was amazed at the wonderful customer service -- guide classes were included as well as several phone calls to the staff when it turned out I was making a mistake on my end. I wouldn't buy fabric or sewing notions from any other place! read more

Jackman's has an excellent selection of high-quality quilting and home decor fabrics -- not to mention friendly, helpful, well-organized staff! I have been buying quilting fabric and thread here for years and plan to continue to do so for as long as I live in the St. Louis area. I've only taken one class at Jackman's (to learn to quilt a Christmas table runner), but I enjoyed it a lot. I found it to be very informative and well-organized. My only really disappointing experience at Jackman's came when I enrolled in a seminar that was advertised as a "quilting business seminar" designed to teach people how to start profitable quilting businesses. Instead, it mostly turned out to be an hours-long sales pitch for BabyLock sewing machines, with very little specific information about how to make money quilting. So I would definitely advise people who want to make money sewing to avoid those "business seminars." Aside from that, my experiences at Jackman's have been wonderful. read more

WOW!! This is the greatest quilt fabric store I have ever been to. Doing a Route 66 quilt and the fabric selection was huge. Every one of the staff members was helpful, even helped me on how to do the quilt stitches. It may be a 4 hour drive, but we will be back. Thank you ladies for all your help. read more

Jackman's Fabrics is a "candy store" for quilters! Their quilting fabrics are high end, but why would you want to make your heirloom quilts from anything else? The employees in Jackman's are so helpful. They are available for questions over the phone. Each lady in the sewing department has her own specialty. Doris helped me learn about digitizing for a table runner. I really enjoy the embroidery machine I bought from them; I go to their free club for embroidery and sewing. I like the seminars, and I always learn something new. My sewing room is equipted with a koala sewing center bought from them. read more

Jackmans fabrics is a wonderful place to shop for quilting fabrics....not inexpensive cheap fabrics...high quality all the way.... all the ladies are very helpful and friendly...helping you find what you are looking for...also the sewing, quilting, and embroidery machines ...great selection of low to high end machines to fit any budget...They give classes to help you learn to use the machine {or machines..in my case I have bought 5.}..my newest machine...Destiny...I love it..
