This review for Jackie's is based on the three visits that I've made and the services received. Oil Change and Maintenance: My car needed maintenance for the mileage and an oil change. I took it to Jackie's due to excellent Yelp reviews. The service was fast and affordable. Starter: After taking my car to another location, which didn't solve my car issue and had the gall to give me a $1,000 dollar quote for potential future repairs, I took my car to back to Jackie's. $600+ dollars later, I had a new starter. I can't say Jackie's was cheap, but I have no price comparison for these repairs, except for Google, and based on that, they were middle of the road. Stripped Oil Drain Plug and Pan: My last visit was today. After an unfruitful stop at a quick oil change place, I was told the drain plug was stripped and due to liability, they couldn't do the change. Back to Jackie's. Indeed, the plug and oil pan were both stripped. Replacing them would have been costly, except they had a quick replacement kit at the shop that worked on some cars (mine being one of them!) Cost was more than an oil change, but not as high as I thought. In fact, I discovered that the price they charged for the replacement part and labor, was much cheaper compared to other places. Plus I'm not sure, but I believe I wasn't charged for the oil change! Jackie's is not a cappuccino machine, marble and glass auto shop. The waiting room is paneling and a smorgasbord of chairs and couches. But they are honest, quick and efficient. All of my repairs have been done on the same day and the owner, Bruce, is incredibly honest and based on today's service, engages to find a better solution. In fact, most of the clientele I have met at Jackie's, have been clients for years and that speaks volumes for this auto shop. read more

My fog light had fallen out of the clips, it was hanging by the wires behind the bumper, along with my sensor. I called Jackie's, they told me to come by whenever. I went during my lunch break, Luis immediately took a look, grabbed my keys. I waited about 20 minutes and it was fixed!!! Luis even took the time to explain what I might've done to make it detach. I've been to Jackie's a couple of times. From the outside, it is very unassuming and somewhat tucked away. Once you go inside, you get this confidence that these folks really know what they are doing. And, if they don't, they will tell you. Bruce is very cordial and his supporting staff is friendly and knowledgeable. PLUS! - they actually pick up the phone! Yeah, no kidding. They will tell you when it's going to be ready or if it's not ready. It's extremely difficult to find an honest mechanic anywhere. True story, one time Bruce did some minor work on my electrical system. He had my vehicle towed, then called when it was ready (within a few hours). I asked, "how much do I owe you?" Bruce and his team are a blissing and a gift to us. Bruce and this team worked on my car and not just fixed the obvious that needed fixing but found the root of the problem and fix that first cause the "Harmonic Balancer" was making my car overheat. Been taking my cars to Jackie's for over fifteen years. Bruce, the owner of the business, is to automobile diagnosis what Denton Cooley was to heart surgery . . . the best! All of the mechanics in the shop are highly skilled and committed to quality. I have recommeded Jackie's to many people over the years and have had nothing but glowing reports on the service. A few years back, my old Prius just stopped doing anything, the "Red Triangle Of Death" lit up on the instrument panel (if you own a Prius, you know that is the absolute worst short of the wheels falling off). Bruce diagnosed the problem, found out there was a recall on the issue, called the dealer and had the car towed there where the $3,000 repair cost me NOTHING! Having generally had bad experiences with other mechanics, I was fairly upset when my car started making terrible squealing noises and shuddering every time I had to make a turn. Worried that I'd be ripped off again, I wasn't sure who to go to, but a good friend of mine recommended this place so I decided to try it out. (Side note: These guys are popular, so call and make an appointment first or you'll have to wait an extra day like I did.) Very Friendly and Great Service - Our daughter attends school at Trinity University and had an issue starting her car. 2007 - Hyundai Tucson. She tried to jump with roommates cables. Would not jump or turnover. Since we are out of town, we reluctantly decided to find an auto repair shop. Jackies had very good reviews and were close to the University - We called and talked to the owner - Bruce. He immediately gained my confidence. We arranged for a tow (which was about 1/2 the price of a Tow in Houston). Final determination - simply a loose cable - they performed a complete diagnosis - and everything else was good. Bruce is just great. if you're looking for clean countertops and white walls then this isn't your place. I cannot praise this shop enough. I took my car to the dealer and was told I needed to replace my battery cable, between labor and the cable it would be $1000. I picked up my car from the dealership, so I could get a 2nd opinion. I found Jackies Auto Clinic on yelp and decided to give them a shot and I am soooo glad I did.
