This is by far and away the best auto shop I have used in my life. Mr. Mander and his staff are friendly, helpful and respectful. Mr. Mander himself is a one of a kind gentleman that seems to closely monitor everything that goes on in his shop. He runs a first class operation that exudes quality and honesty. Where my former Toyota dealer wanted to charge me $350 for a simple repair, Mr. Mander's team fixed it in about 10 minutes...and charged me about $40! That is quite the savings and I am very grateful! He will be getting all of my business. If you are looking for an honest shop, you won't find any better! read more

If I could give ZERO STARS, I would. Absolutely terrible experience. Worst experience and service OF MY LIFE. Bob/his employees didn't fix my battery, broke my engine when I know for a FACT it was in GREAT condition, and to make matters worse, Bob Mander has made ZERO effort to contact me, or even make things right. I would expect and hope such a big company would have no money issue or otherwise to DO THE RIGHT THING. But, I was wrong. It's been over 2 YEARS AND BOB MANDER REFUSES TO FIX HIS MISTAKES. I am beyond disgusted at the way my car and I have been treated. please don't ever give your money to this unprofessional, predatory company. I will keep this review on UNTIL BOB MANDER DOES THE RIGHT THING AND FIXES MY CAR ON HIS DIME. I SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR HIS FUCKUPS. WILL NOT STAND FOR IT. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. read more

They are friendly and professional. They were slow to respond but seemed to make things right with pricing. If you plan to take your vehicle understand they are good but high in demand. Be prepared to be without your vehicle for a minute. I knew this and I was prepared. read more

Mr. Mander told me my alignment would cost me $150. I was charged $250. His explanation: the original quote did not include rear alignment. Mr. Mander said I probably didn't really need alignment, but he wanted me to buy 4 tires from him. Ironically, I got a coupon from a big Chevy dealership with alignment for all 4 wheels for only $100. Mr. Mander is the nicest man ever. Trust him, and he will take care of your wallet with a smile. read more

They insisted I have my vehicle towed in the following morning. It sat for 8 days in a parking lot across the street and did not move- they never looked at it. I have gps on the vehicle and even drove by twice. I have a handicap placard and two small babies... I really needed my van and had I waited on them I'd continue to be waiting and borrowing my husband's truck. They were very unapologetic about it, and insisted it was still being diagnosed. read more

Mander Automotive does quality work and gets it right the first time. Love that they allow you to schedule a time to bring your vehicle in for service. I highly recommend Mander. read more

There's a reason why there's a wait. The owner, Bob, is an honest guy. My parents live in Helotes and always take their vehicles because they won't get robbed with high pricing. My AC died and i took it to the dealership and they were going to charge me $199 just to evaluate the problem. Bob and his team fixed my car for far less than what the dealership would have. This place is a gem and the locals bring their cars here for a reason. HIGHLY recommend. read more

I traveled across the country for a funeral when my starter went out. The part was under warranty and I just needed someone to help change it out. Without too many personal details, Mander Auto went above and beyond helping me out. They were extremely busy and still squeezed me in and quickly took care of me. The company the warranty was under tried to give us some hassle about replacing the part but Bob Mander stood up for me and made sure the original agreement was honored. The whole staff was professional, courteous, and genuinely cared about helping me during my bereavement. Thank you, Mander Auto for turning a crisis into a blessing. read more

I recommend Mr. Bob Mander to literally anyone who will listen. My family has used Mander automotive for the last 20 years and he and his employees are amazing. Mander is trustworthy, always trying to get you the best deal, and has never steered me wrong. Turnaround time is awesome too considering the quality of work that is always done. Additionally Mr Mander calls you directly to tell you the problem, parts to fix it and time it will take usually same day. I will never be going to another mechanic in San Antonio/Helotes again. read more

Dropped off my truck at Mander for two different repairs. Called back two days later and the receptionist hung up on me. Called again, and the receptionist then told me that I had not made an appointment when I dropped off the truck, so it would be another week before they could look at it. What??? Called back a week later and the receptionist told me that everyone was on break, but someone would call me back by the end of day. No one called me. Called back AGAIN (no idea why Mander cannot contact their customers directly) and they said it would be done by noon. Went to pickup the truck and they said their PC's were down and they could not release the truck. After waiting the PC's finally came back and they said there is a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. I asked why I was not told this earlier. No answer. Received the final bill and I asked why only one of the two repairs were made. They said they forgot. I do not recommend this business. Bob - its time to retire! read more

Exactly as they stated on the phone, I was in and out, hassle free and the very nicest of people and professional. I had a very large RV to be inspected and this company was nothing but helpful and very pleasant to work with. All were very courteous. Would definitely recommend them and use them again. read more

I will tell you the long and the short of it: you can find cheaper places, but you can't find more honest service. Bob, the owner, regularly meets with his customers, and he will tell you exactly what the problem is, and exactly how to fix it. I value that a great deal. read more

Really solid location. Down to earth, fair prices. The only downside is they seem to be extremely busy, but if you're not in a time crunch, I would recommend them every time. read more

I've taken my car here for years. Mr.Mander always makes you feel like family and gives it to you straight.

When you see lots of cars lined up at an auto mechanic's shop, that's usually a good sign. Mander's is wedged between two main streets that intersect at a point, so there's activity on both sides. They are obviously well located and very busy. I called in for a state inspection and was able to get an appointment the following day. It's only $7 (You just gotta love Texas!). The mechanic was friendly and personable, but got he to the job right away. I was in and out in what seemed like almost no time. I would definitely consider Mander's if I needed to have any service work done. read more

I would recommend this shop to everyone. I needed my brakes looked at. I went to Brake Check that estimated 750$ in repairs and charged me 75$ after telling them I needed a second opinion. Mander was recommended to me by three people so I took it in to see if I could get my brakes looked at. They saw me right away , and the owner told me all I needed was a spring fixed and that the other repairs could wait until my next oil change and would only cost about 200-250$. read more

I took my horse trailer there to be inspected. I was in and out within 15 minutes. I will continue to give them my business as we own a landscaping company with lots of trucks. Excellent customer service! Unlike the "other place" I took my trailer to. They told me the inspection girl was out to lunch and wouldn't be back for two hours. I told them that I would be out back waiting bc I didn't feel comfortable driving my trailer in traffic. Long story short, I went in to see if she was back after two hours. They told me she was and it would be about 45 minutes..... I said I already waited 2 hours and now it's another 45? I left, never to return. read more

My whole family has been using Mander automotive for years back when they didn't have an online booking system. This business use to be very customer service oriented. I had an issue come up and called them to discuss the time line for getting my car in. The lady who answered the phone was not understanding what I was asking for so I put in an online service request. I waited a week and hadn't received a confirmation call. So I followed back up and the lady stated that she had no request from me, even though I had emailed proof of my request. The lady stated that they were fully booked for the week I requested and closed the next and booked the week after that. When I re-explained everything to the lady that I just explained weeks ago she fed me canned responses of apologies. After I expressed my frustration with the online service and how the business use to be compared to how it is now she offered for me to speak to Bob. She placed me on hold for several minutes before he picked up the phone. When he did he said "well this is a waste of time. say what you want before I hang up." Then he stated "I will never work on your car again." All without talking to me about any of what transpired. I will never go back. It'd a shame that customer service is no longer a priority read more

I'm called to make a appointment. Made one for a Monday at 130pm. Asked if I could bring my own oil because I use the same brand of oil every time. And I usually do my own oil change. Since I needed work on my car I Guthrie's they can do my oil change as well. She told me that Mr. Manders doesn't allow that. Ok I respect that. So I asked what kind of oil do they use. She said she was not sure, that she would ask. So she took my number and said she will call me back. She never called me back so I forgives they were busy. So I waited to eod and I called them back. I asked her if she found out because I did not get a call back. No apology for not reaching back out or anything. She said they use interstate oil. I said o I've never heard of that. But since I have you on the phone I'm just clarifying my appointment for Monday. All she said was "no we have your appointment to someone else." I asked why. She said " you didn't sound sure you wanted it." How can I sound unsure. You didn't even call me back when you said you would call me back. You could've asked me when you called back if I still wanted to keep my appointment. I hung up very upset. Makes me think of how you would treat my car with how you just treated me. Last time I went to get just a oil change at the dealership I found my dip stick in my radiator. After that I need someone that is going to be kind to my car and being a female someone might just try to rip me off. But I still called because Manders was highly recommended to me. Even my dad recommended them to me and that says a lot to me. read more

Mr. Mander is a good honest man. His team does the work, reports it to him, and he calls you himself. Mander Automotive helped keep my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer running for over 230K miles. Me, taking my old girl in for service & look overs - Mr. Mander letting me know with items were important to take cover of now and others that could wait a little to spread out the cost. When I sold my house a few years back, I took my SUV in to get all her bells & whistles done - to a large cost, but I had extra money from the sell of my home to use....Mr. Mander even asked me if "I was sure" about spending THAT MUCH money on my old girl - where other shops just would've taken my money. Now that my SUV is officially dead - due to a damaged engine from being stolen - even Mr. Mander helped me through that in dealing with my insurance company for me. THANK YOU Mr. Mander and team for always being so kind to me - and my old girl. read more

I scheduled an appointment a few weeks ago to have routine maintenance done on my car. I was moving to Las Vegas and was about to drive approx 1,200 miles, so I wanted the alignment done, transmission flushed (oil I had gotten changed elsewhere and tire rotation). My car was a used Honda Civic, and I knew since I owned it (for 5 years) the timing belt hadn't been replaced, so I asked them to give me a diagnosis on that. I wasn't sure when/if the previous owner replaced it. I ended up spending $400 on the alignment, transmission flush, and the diagnosis of my timing belt (which I thought was a pretty steep price). Bob, the owner, said my timing belt was SO worn, that there was no way I could make it to Vegas safely without having it replaced. He described it as being in the worst condition possible. Of course, I panicked, realizing I had a week until I moved across country and was about to drop $1300 total on my car. I weighed every option, including spending 3 FULL days looking into trading in my car and leasing a new one, because I didn't feel my car was worth $1300+ in repairs. Then, my neighbor and boyfriend decided they would save me all the stress and $$ and change it themselves, while also adding a new water pump. This took them about 12 hours. After they replaced it, they showed me "old" timing belt. Come to find out, the "old" timing belt still had the printing label visible and had NO wear what-so-ever. It looked brand new...and it was. My boyfriend popped open the hood to show me something else, and I discovered a yellow tag in the corner of the hood that said the belt was replaced in 2011 and wasn't due to change until 185,000 miles--my car only had 136,000. We took the "old" timing belt to Bob and asked him what he was talking about, and where he saw the "wear," and the only thing he could say was that it didn't look "as bad" as he initially thought. No apology. I understand this is a business and they need to make money. But at the end of the day, I felt completely lied to and had so much unnecessary stress. I felt Mander prayed on a young female, thinking I didn't know anything about cars. Little did they know, I would see the tag in the corner for proof that my car did not need the replacement. Sure, it doesn't hurt to replace. But it was certainly NOT worn or damaged looking. I am highly disappointed in the dishonesty I received and the way it was handled. read more

Bob Mander and his staff are the best. I've taken my vehicles there for years. They replaced the water pump on my 01 Tahoe this week. I really appreciate the fact that Mr. Mander calls you personally to explain the diagnosis and provides a straight forward estimate. They fix what needs to be fixed with no high pressure add-ons. I have had used Mander to service my car for over 7 years and have had nothing but an excellent experience and service on my car. Bob takes time to speak with every customer that comes through the door. He explains what service is required, provides an approximate cost and how long the job should take. The mechanics are master mechanics who have been with Mander for years and who know their job very well. Very little turn over. Last, but not least, the office personnel are extremely friendly, funny and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a reputable auto service center, don't look any further. read more

Took my vehicle in for a diagnostic check on the rear end. Bob the owner ended up telling me that I needed a whole new rebuild on my rear differential which would cost $3,000 with parts and labor. This was a bit too much for me at the time and I decided to pull my truck out of his shop. Upon pickup I was shocked that his $75 diagnostic fee had jumped to $122. I asked for the details on what he did and was informed that they removed the rear diff cover and inspected the damages then went to put the cover back on. Seems fairly easy to remove 14 bolts with an impact and then re apply rtv to the cover and reinstall the bolts one hour max. I went on to talk to him about the price, he blew me off and mumbled on about all the work he had to do and that I had to "pay the man". Whatever, I paid and went on with my day. I came back that night with a trailer to pickup my truck. I found out that my battery was beyond dead and the radio was turned all the way up with my bass nob for my subs also maxed out. Was also greeted with a check engine light. The worst experience ever! I well never again associate with this shop. read more

While I knew Mander existed, I had never taken my cars there. On someone's recommendation I took my wife's car there. Not only did they turn the car around in one day, the price was less than they quoted. Mr. Mander made it a point to meet me and shake my hand.
