Dropped off my truck at Mander for two different repairs. Called back two days later and the receptionist hung up on me. Called again, and the receptionist then told me that I had not made an appointment when I dropped off the truck, so it would be another week before they could look at it. What??? Called back a week later and the receptionist told me that everyone was on break, but someone would call me back by the end of day. No one called me. Called back AGAIN (no idea why Mander cannot contact their customers directly) and they said it would be done by noon. Went to pickup the truck and they said their PC's were down and they could not release the truck. After waiting the PC's finally came back and they said there is a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. I asked why I was not told this earlier. No answer. Received the final bill and I asked why only one of the two repairs were made. They said they forgot. I do not recommend this business. Bob - its time to retire! read more

Mander was recommended to me by three people so I took it in to see if I could get my brakes looked at. My whole family has been using Mander automotive for years back when they didn't have an online booking system. This business use to be very customer service oriented. I had an issue come up and called them to discuss the time line for getting my car in. The lady who answered the phone was not understanding what I was asking for so I put in an online service request. I waited a week and hadn't received a confirmation call. So I followed back up and the lady stated that she had no request from me, even though I had emailed proof of my request. The lady stated that they were fully booked for the week I requested and closed the next and booked the week after that. When I re-explained everything to the lady that I just explained weeks ago she fed me canned responses of apologies. After I expressed my frustration with the online service and how the business use to be compared to how it is now she offered for me to speak to Bob. She placed me on hold for several minutes before he picked up the phone. When he did he said "well this is a waste of time. say what you want before I hang up." I'm called to make a appointment. Made one for a Monday at 130pm. Asked if I could bring my own oil because I use the same brand of oil every time. And I usually do my own oil change. Since I needed work on my car I Guthrie's they can do my oil change as well. She told me that Mr. Manders doesn't allow that. Ok I respect that. So I asked what kind of oil do they use. She said she was not sure, that she would ask. So she took my number and said she will call me back. She never called me back so I forgives they were busy. So I waited to eod and I called them back. I asked her if she found out because I did not get a call back. No apology for not reaching back out or anything. She said they use interstate oil. I said o I've never heard of that. But since I have you on the phone I'm just clarifying my appointment for Monday. All she said was "no we have your appointment to someone else." I asked why. She said " you didn't sound sure you wanted it." How can I sound unsure. You didn't even call me back when you said you would call me back. You could've asked me when you called back if I still wanted to keep my appointment. I hung up very upset. Makes me think of how you would treat my car with how you just treated me. Last time I went to get just a oil change at the dealership I found my dip stick in my radiator. After that I need someone that is going to be kind to my car and being a female someone might just try to rip me off. But I still called because Manders was highly recommended to me. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks ago to have routine maintenance done on my car. I was moving to Las Vegas and was about to drive approx 1,200 miles, so I wanted the alignment done, transmission flushed (oil I had gotten changed elsewhere and tire rotation). My car was a used Honda Civic, and I knew since I owned it (for 5 years) the timing belt hadn't been replaced, so I asked them to give me a diagnosis on that. I wasn't sure when/if the previous owner replaced it. I ended up spending $400 on the alignment, transmission flush, and the diagnosis of my timing belt (which I thought was a pretty steep price). Bob, the owner, said my timing belt was SO worn, that there was no way I could make it to Vegas safely without having it replaced. He described it as being in the worst condition possible. Of course, I panicked, realizing I had a week until I moved across country and was about to drop $1300 total on my car. I weighed every option, including spending 3 FULL days looking into trading in my car and leasing a new one, because I didn't feel my car was worth $1300+ in repairs. Then, my neighbor and boyfriend decided they would save me all the stress and $$ and change it themselves, while also adding a new water pump. This took them about 12 hours. After they replaced it, they showed me "old" timing belt. Come to find out, the "old" timing belt still had the printing label visible and had NO wear what-so-ever. It looked brand new...and it was. My boyfriend popped open the hood to show me something else, and I discovered a yellow tag in the corner of the hood that said the belt was replaced in 2011 and wasn't due to change until 185,000 miles--my car only had 136,000. We took the "old" timing belt to Bob and asked him what he was talking about, and where he saw the "wear," and the only thing he could say was that it didn't look "as bad" as he initially thought. No apology. I understand this is a business and they need to make money. But at the end of the day, I felt completely lied to and had so much unnecessary stress. I felt Mander prayed on a young female, thinking I didn't know anything about cars. Little did they know, I would see the tag in the corner for proof that my car did not need the replacement. Sure, it doesn't hurt to replace. But it was certainly NOT worn or damaged looking. I am highly disappointed in the dishonesty I received and the way it was handled. read more

Took my vehicle in for a diagnostic check on the rear end. Bob the owner ended up telling me that I needed a whole new rebuild on my rear differential which would cost $3,000 with parts and labor. This was a bit too much for me at the time and I decided to pull my truck out of his shop. Upon pickup I was shocked that his $75 diagnostic fee had jumped to $122. I asked for the details on what he did and was informed that they removed the rear diff cover and inspected the damages then went to put the cover back on. Seems fairly easy to remove 14 bolts with an impact and then re apply rtv to the cover and reinstall the bolts one hour max. I went on to talk to him about the price, he blew me off and mumbled on about all the work he had to do and that I had to "pay the man". Whatever, I paid and went on with my day. I came back that night with a trailer to pickup my truck. I found out that my battery was beyond dead and the radio was turned all the way up with my bass nob for my subs also maxed out. Was also greeted with a check engine light. The worst experience ever! I well never again associate with this shop. read more

Took my car in in Thursday for an EGR Valve issue and they were nice enough to look at it and diagnosed the problem as a vacuum leak. I then booked my appointment for Friday with the front office gal. The next morning at 710am I showed up with my vehicle thinking it will be ready by lunch time. I was greeted by the owner with the look of "what are you doing here". I explained to him that I had an appointment to repair the vacuum leak. He told me that I did not have an appointment because it wasn't confirmed online. I kept telling him that I didn't make an appointment online and that I made it in person. He raised his voice and stated," I have already apologized to you, told you to call Becky (Receptionist?), and told you what to do. He then said WE ARE ABOUT TO GET IN TO IT". I guess older people are set in their ways and refuse to listen. I didn't raise my voice nor did I continue with the lack of conservation. I gave them 1 star for looking at my car on Thursday only. The front office and the owner need to communicate better. I'm guessing that the owner gets in his mood swings and people who deal with him just let him be due to his advanced age and grumpiness (I really don't know). Customer interactions are initially pleasant but it was at a different level when he raised his voice. Bottom line if you can deal with the attitude and the work has cleared by the owner himself then go for it. I'm still in shock that this guy threatened to get into with me. read more
