I admit, I have not been to any dentist in some time. I came here on an emergency visit Tuesday…read moreafternoon based on Yelp reviews alone. Yelp was right, this place is stellar. I have been terrified of the dentist for some time. Kind of like the car dealership, you have a go-between who talks billing and insurance with you away from the nurse and dentist. It's discrete and comfortable without pressure. My nurse (dental hygienist) was Susan? Or Sandy? God she was an angel. She was so kind to me breaking down and upset and in pain. She made me feel so comfortable talking about stuff and offering anything I might need. My dentist was Dr Taylor who was incredibly knowledgeable and proficient. I got out what needed to come out and I even scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance later this month. I was made comfortable to be there, whether I needed nitrous or a valium, either are available. And they make sure you are physically comfortable with numbing. Mentally comfortable is hard, but true kindness shines through in the folks who work there. I got a kids "reward" (shark plushie) to hold while I had my procedure. When I left I got a "goodie bag" with full instructions on what I had done, extra gauze, and an emergency card. It's a little hinky getting in with the road construction on witchduck road. But soon as your turn on Grayson, by the church, it's there. There's an employee entrance on the witchduck side and another saying Ste 200 on the side, even though the dentist is Ste 100, this is the door you go in.

Konikoff, you need to do better. This is not how you treat people who have supported your business for years. I'll find another dentist. That's not a problem. What is a problem is that a longtime patient can have an appointment cancelled, receive a reminder to show up anyway, wait 26 minutes, and then be told they need to reschedule--with apparently no one taking responsibility for it.

It also says on their site what insurances they accept, I have 2 and they accept both It states on this site, but one of them they do not accept........ I was going to reschedule when I get a new dental insurance but I will not be returning. She continued to tell me how she sent information to my phone but I never received it. and she continued to repeat her self with the worst attitude. I filled out a new client paperwork but I have been there before. I will not be Returning and will also not recommend this dental office to family and friends. they need to have people at the front desk that actually wanna help and care for their clients. Everyone seemed happy to be there, like they actually liked their jobs. And Dr. Horwitz was the BEST! He has the greatest bed side manner I've ever experienced. The whole time he was very pleasant and joked around. He made me feel at ease, which is nice when you're about to go under the drill. He was also very quick - 5 cavities in around an hour, when my old dentist would have done 4 cavities in 2 hours. I'll definitely be coming back if I can. Now, he has an empire. with large offices all over Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake. Yet, he hasn't changed. He is very personable, great with kids (I know because I started going when I was a kid) and he does his work with great precision and accuracy. For a period of time, I had to switch dentists because of my insurance. Konikoff offices take most insurance, this was just really, really awful insurance. I tried many other area dentists and was very disappointed with my experiences. I guess Dr. Konikoff just raised the bar too high. I actually had to go back to Dr. Konikoff to have something fixed that another dentist had done. No matter my insurance, I'll never make that mistake again. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance now, but I still get in to see Dr. Konikoff regularly. Dr. Konikoff is a busy man, traveling between his multiple offices each day of the week. If I'm going in for a regular cleaning, I'll see any of the dentists on hand. They are all very qualified and provide excellent care.
