I've been here twice now & had carne asada sopes both times, and they were soooo good…read more I found this place by accident. I was actually looking for a different taqueria in a different food cart mall, which I ended up finding a few weeks later. (But, for the record, Loncheria Jalisco is actually better than the other place, anyway.) Loncheria Jalisco is at 6th Street Station, which is an extremely small food cart mall with only about six pods. Most of the pods are closed most of the time, so most of the people eating here are coming for one specific cart. There is a very small central brick and mortar building with indoor seating which sells drinks and alcohol. I haven't personally been inside the building, but it looks a lot well better insulated than some of the others I've seen. It actually looks like a converted Wendy's. The first time I came here, I just ordered one sope. The second time, I ordered two. The sopes are a bit on the small side, but so is the price, at only $4. On top of the shell, they come with beans, meat, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, avocado sauce (more like blended avocado/lime/cilantro than guacamole), cheese, and more salsa (on the side). Even though the guacamole was not quite guacamole, the flavor was fire. It was actually the perfect consistency for the sope. Once I added the tomatillo salsa, the flavors exploded. I had salsa dripping all over my hands, and didn't even care. It was so good. The cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream were all super fresh. The beans and meat were done right. While this wasn't the most impressive carne asada I've ever had, it was pretty decent for a fast food truck. These sopes were as good as I would expect to find from a food truck in Sacramento. Based on reputation, I didn't expect there to be much great Mexican food in Oregon, but I've been proven wrong. Prices are very reasonable-- maybe too reasonable. I wouldn't be surprised if they go up a little bit. I love this place and would definitely come back again. I'm hoping to try their fajita burrito one of these days, if I can get there before they sell out. (Last time, they had sold out by 3!)

My carne asada was overcooked, dry, and overpriced. It should be cooked medium rare to medium, but it came out well done, and I couldn't finish it. I was really disappointed, especially since the last time I came here (about 7 years ago), it was my favorite dish. Clearly, you went from an experienced chef to a very inexperienced cook. It's very unfortunate because the poor quality reflects your business, and I am not the only one noticing that. Your change to save a few dollars is going to hurt your reputation. I hope you go back to using experienced chefs and stop hiring amateur cooks who don't know what they're doing. Our total came to $60, or $75 with tip, and honestly, the experience wasn't worth it. I expected better and likely won't be back unless it's a last option, since The Dalles tends to close early on weekends.

Legit!!! What a random find!…read more After a day of wine tasting and exploring, I was starving! Not wanting to go anywhere formal, I passed this little Mexican place and after reading Yelp reviews, decided to stop in. Originally wanting 2 carnitas tacos, the Chile relleno spoke to me so I ordered that, too! Obviously I was hungry. You order at the counter and they bring to table. Food arrived piping hot, just the way I like it. The tacos were amazing! The corn tortillas so tasty on their own, soft with crisp edges. I'd order a bag of them if available. When the tortilla is that good, you know the rest will be just as delicious and it was. Flavorful meat, crispy edges, cilantro and chopped onion. Extra wedge of lime. So good I devoured and could only manage 2 bites of the chile relleno! So I packed up the chile relleno, rice and beans in a to go box then ordered 2 more carnitas tacos knowing I would be hungry later on. I'm so glad I did! Doubled down and bought a churro also. Will definitely be back! Legit Mexican food, reasonable prices, friendly service. They are famous for their fruit drinks, shaved ice, and corn in a cup topped with mayo.. that's for another visit. I'm thrilled to have great Mexican food right in the center of Mosier, a tiny "Mayberry RFD" of a town with just a handful of food options. Here is what I've figured out:…read more OR Taco Bell : CA Taco Bell :: CA Taco Bell : Actual Mexican Food It's not Oregon's fault. It's just math. If you are a Taco Bell fan from California (like me), you're going to be disappointed in Oregon, period. However, for an Oregon Taco Bell, this one is pretty decent. It is, at least in my experience, way better than the one in Hood River, which legitimately deserves to be closed down. My main issues with this location have been the customer service and incredibly long wait times. The food has actually been okay, and my orders have all been correct. It seems like they just don't have enough qualified staff to keep up with demands, either in The Dalles or in Hood River. But The Dalles does have at least one skilled full-time employee in the drive-through. So, keeping that in mind, my overall opinion is that, for an Oregon Taco Bell, this one is pretty okay, but it would be great if they could find a way to attract and maintain enough qualified staff to keep it running properly.
