I order about 70 sandwiches there last June, from the owner who was very nice. Just went there to buy a few sandwiches and some holiday gift cards today 12/21/2025 @ 12:40 pm and had to suffer with the worst employee there I have even had. So rude, condescending and dirty. I came into this subway tonight about an hour before closong to get the sub of the day which until the point has been tuna on Friday. My first problem was I told them I was getting the sub of the day and ordered tuna and no one told me they changed the days for sub of the day. But that was the smallest issue I had the real issue happened when the gentleman that was helping me who was awesome by the way called an employee named Tamara out to come and help. She seemed very upset that she had to come out and do her job. She was not nice and quite rude the entire time from when she first came out from back. The first real issue happened when In the middle of making my sandwich she got a online order and with the gloves still on she touched the screen on the register and some receipts that printed out and tried to go right back to making my sandwich with the same gloves. I kindly asked her to please change gloves before she touched my food again I know food safety and I know that is what she was supposed to do. But she had a terrible attitude after I asked her to practice food safety and not touch my food after touching a dirty register. As she proceeded to sloppily slap my sub together angrily i asked her if she had an issue with me asking her to do her job bc at this point she is just throwing stuff on my sub clearly irritated she then proceeded to tell me im being rude (which if me telling her the specifics on my sandwich and asking her to practice food safety in a cool calm voice makes me rude then I don't know). After she had finished throwing my sandwich together I asked her name and she refused to tell it to me I eventually got it from the gentleman working with her. I am so disappointed in the service I received tonight and it will make me think twice about eating at subway because of how bad it was. I couldn't even eat my sandwich when I got back home because it feels like it was made with hate. read more

The lady there was really rushing everyone and yelling a lot so if you want a spiked heart rate and sweaty palms this is definitely your place. The bathrooms were also really gross and dirty. But the food was pretty good. read more

Subway in The Dalles is our GO TO place to eat every Tuesday! Everyone is friendly, always has a smile, and a great sense of humor! My husband is gluten free and they have THE BEST tasting gluten free sub buns around! It actually tastes like bread, not chalk and it doesn't fall apart when you eat it! We've had just about every sub sandwich on the menu and they're all good, but my absolute FAVORITE is the Meatball Marinara!! I've even had the Marinara on a beef sub sandwich! And you can't beat the price! The store is always clean and so are the servers! They're always so very care about keeping the serving counter cleaned off. They accidently dropped a knife on the floor and they quickly got another clean one to use. If we could, we'd rate this store, food and people a BIG TEN!!! On a reconnaissance trip to The Dalles looking for a place for my Mom to live we had that inevitable conversation come lunch time: Me: Let's take a break and get some lunch. What do you feel like? Mom: I eat anything, what do you want? Me: Do you feel like anything special? Mom: Where ever you want to go. Me: Well that's not fair, if I pick something you don't like it'll be my fault for ruining lunch! Mom: Exactly. So it was up to me to find a safe place to go to lunch that would satisfy and not disappoint. Scanning the main drag in town I took into consideration the gastronomical capabilities of a 76 year old (feisty) woman. Subway loomed ahead and that seemed safe. Besides, it was July and the Buffalo Chicken Sub was the $5 footlong of the month. Win! I liked the size of the place it was possibly the largest Subway I personally have seen before. I know why too, we were there about 12:30 and it was busy. This location had everything I needed from a Subway, fresh bread, friendly staff and something with buffalo sauce on it. I just love when the management lets a trainee figure out how to make sandwiches at my expense. This time I don't blame the new worker but the management. This Subway was run so well: we showed up at dinner time with a line and they moved us through quickly. As a bonus, we found Mike and Eric to be both professional and entertaining at the same time - made us laugh. Most people hit this place between the hours of 11:00am and 1:00pm. At least that is how it seems from the crowds of people! The Dalles could really use a 2nd Subway. I feel the same way about Fred Meyers... we really need another one of those too! Anyway, I digress. The reason I feel so compelled to review this Subway is based off of what I experience when I come in for lunch. Allow me to paint you a picture: It's 12:30pm and all the blue collars in TD are out to grab a quick bite before slaving away for 4 to 5 more hours in front of a computer. You suddenly think "ummmm Subway. That's what I'll have". You arrive and fight your way through the tiny and uncomfortable parking lot only to head inside and WHOOOOAAAAA..... where did all this people come from? This is frightening! You want to make a break for the door.... but STOP. Is this line moving super quickly? Are the staff making sandwiches with efficiency and skill? And are they still friendly in the process? Well hot damn, it is and they are! So yeah, this place gets crazy busy, but have a little patience because you will be in and out of there in no time with a foot long in tow. Cut the staff a little slack TD residents... they are trying hard and doing a pretty stand up job for the amount of crap they have to deal with on the daily. read more

Entrance to lot is super small - slow down a lot to turn in. Staff is very friendly and helpful and are willing to take a foot long sandwich and customize it for 2 people. Woot! Easy off and on the highway. The "elderly" in the area tend to like this place too, and they are not fast... in fact they are slow and they order stupid things like hot water... Other than that, just like any other subway! read more

First time to order Glutton Free Bread at a Subway. It is very dry bread and crumbles apart while trying to eat it. Service here was fine, I just didn't like the Subway GF Bread at all. read more

Wow... felt like I was being drilled in the army. Got a sandwich for me and my kid and I was hounded by 3 different employees about two different sandwiches at once. I said yes to mayonnaise twice before the guy rolled his eyes and put one big nasty glop right in the middle. Stopped here for lunch as the vegan restaurants are pretty non-existent in this town. Subway has the veggie patty and that works for now. The staff are fast, friendly and work with the occasional smile. The place is clean but the parking lot is small so we had to drive by a couple of times because of lack of parking. I have one problem with this place. On many occasions I have gone to this location in the evening and have wanted a bowl of their soup but they never have. It's almost like they close before they actualy close. And the same goes for Their breads, it's like after a certain point they just quit. So I'd you actualy want to make sure you get what you go for in the first place go early in the day so they will have it. Even though an establishment should have all menu items on hand as long as the doors are open, unless it was dealt, dealt busy and they completely ran out of stock. read more

The service was extremely slow. We waited a good 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were standing there. They were walking around behind the counter and saw us but didn't say anything. The ladies were in no rush whatsoever. Once they did start helping I wanted guacamole and so She went to the back to get guacamole and disappeared for 5 minutes. The guy behind me's sandwich was done and so I told her she could check him out since I was waiting for guacamole. She looked at me and then asked me what else I wanted on my sandwich and completely ignored my statement or the fact he was waiting. The guy behind me appreciated my gesture and then said well I guess not. I felt bad for him as he was on his lunch break. Then I said pepper please and she put cucumbers on. Then when we we're checking out my husband said we'll get drinks and chips too please and then she says would you like drinks and chips? It was just a huge disconnect in service. My brother and I visited this subway on a road trip attempting to avoid grabbing a quick burger... we wish we would have went to Wendys! Turkey sandwich.. typically a safe bet.. wrong... my bread tasted about a week old and was just as hard, I asked for light mayonnaise I got far from light mayo. The staff was rather rude and unsociable. My brother opted for the cold cut trio he took one bite and was done the bread was so hard he could barely bite thru the cheese onto of the Italian herb and cheese bread.
