I recently traveled from NC to SC on June 29, 2011 to stock up on some fireworks for the upcoming 4th of July from JABS and was very happy with my road trip and purchases. For about a $100 I left there with two full grocery bags of fireworks. They have everything there from firecrackers to mortars, and it was a bit overwhelming when I first walked into the place, because the security there is very intense with their audible video cameras that make you wince when they go off, to thwart shoplifters, but more so from the many shelves of fireworks to choose from. The staff there is very helpful, so if you have any questions, then just ask - the lighter stuff was to the left of the entrance and the bigger stuff was to the right. I wasn't sure if they would accept CCs or not, so I brought plenty of cash, but I did learn that they accept major CCs with ID, so payment was not an issue. As far as food goes, I would "not" suggest eating at South of the Border, because I'm sorry to say that it's pretty run down there as far as restaurants go, so just plan on eating some place else nearby or on the way. It's all about the fireworks there, not the food. The Peddler Steakhouse there might be the exception, which opens at 5p for dinner, but I would rule out breakfast or lunch, unless you're okay with just a hot dog or hamburger...sorry. read more
