I came in for electric guitar strings. They had 3 staff all three offered help and I picked up 2 packs. I need to get my acoustic guitar repaired and asked them about that. They told me about Carolina Fretworks in Hartsville where I could get it repaired. Looks like they keep their products in good condition and don't let people just mess around who don't have serious interest but just want to play on it. And in that business there are lots of those types. I didn't touch anything just got what I came for and looked at all the nice musical supplies they have. read more

This store has a great variety of guitars, amps, p.a.'s, effects pedals and consignment pieces. I've bought and sold gear with their consignment plan, including 2 of my amps on consignment this past Christmas season. They've done installation of guitar upgrades, and give lessons for several young (and more mature) folks that I know. The customer service is always friendly and if I ask for something they don't know they immediately go find the answer. Definitely the best music store in Eastern South Carolina. read more

I get acoustic strings from this store. It's generally a strange experience. The selection is weak and if you have questions about anything, don't bother. This is a typical Florence kind of place, anywhere else they'd be out of business. read more

My significant other and I walked into this store at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. The front door of the store was open and lights were on in the store. Upon entering a woman (Wife of owner?) informed me that they were closed. I asked politely if my partner and I could get 2 minutes to tally-up a bunch of tambourines and percussion equipment we needed for out church. The women granted permission to do so. My partner and I were at the percussion section tallying-up how much money we were planning to spend at Music Depot. The woman came over in less than one minute and said that "We will be open again on Monday." This was after one minute and after she granted me permission for a couple minutes. As I starting walking out of the store (saying nothing because I was upset) the woman said "that's right, we will be open again on Monday." What a great way to treat a customer. I had purchased all of my guitar strings here in the past but no more. I'm finished with Music Depot. Unreal. I guess they lost 2 customers and at least a $200.00 sale. Retail must be so good that Music Depot doesn't need my business. read more

We stopped by this store driving to South Carolina from Boston. We've been shopping for a gretsch kit and played several in local shops but haven't found the right color. We were SO excited to stop in (just to pick up a few capos) and see a kit in the color we had been looking for. The associate yelled from across the store asking if we were all set. I think she profiled us and thought we were hooligans and just didn't want us messing with the kit at all because when I asked if we could try the kit (which was fully set up) she said "no." I said "seriously? We aren't going to buy this kit if we can't try it!" And she muttered something to the person next to her and said "it will put wear and tear on it." It is ridiculous to assume that any real musician is going to buy a real instrument without playing it first. I guess she didn't think we were real musicians. Too bad . This was going to be a back up/traveling kit to use when we don't want to travel with our 3000.00 gretsch kit. Wake up. This is an amateur music store at best with bad bad bad customer service. At least walk across the store next time. read more

I was treated very well here. The owners are honest about their products, and generous with their time and musical knowledge. I would highly recommend anyone to come here. First, I purchased a mic stand from them, and when I took it home and couldn't figure out how to fit my shock mount to it, they helped me fit it in the store for free. Then, a couple months later, Scott helped me trouble-shoot my recording system for free! He spent almost an hour with me, trying to help me find the solution to the background noise I was getting. Afterwards, he helped me pack everything up and carried it all back out to my car with me! These people obviously care about their community, and contrary to the previous post, they have wonderful customer service. read more
