As we got close to the SC state line, we called to see if it was open and Melissa offered to keep the shop open a little longer for us! We enjoyed talking with her, and found a few gifts for family. If you're passing through or near, it's a fun stop.

Where do I start? How about at the front door - "Find Your Vintage Pearl" That's exactly what…read moreyou'll find when you are greeted by the one-a-kind, sweet, empathetic proprietor of The Oyster. I have visited a couple of times and witnessed Melissa working with her customers and neighbors - "Her people" as I refer to them. She shows genuine interest in knowing each and every person who walks through the door or visits online. I have received notes from her when she has found items she knows I will find interesting and I have seen her do this for others, too. She has so much passion for her work. She finds the most unique pieces that reflect her style, but truly they are a reflection of her customers, too. She's just waiting to introduce you to your pearl. Worth the trip to historic Bennettsville just to sit and chat with Melissa for a few minutes after shopping in The Oyster. Her passion and positive attitude are infectious and you are sure to leave with a smile on your face along with new-to-you treasures in hand.

Good luck selling your subpar, not even Ashley quality crap to unsuspecting suckers! From the other reviews I've read, they don't stand behind their cheap particle board made in China crap....tsk, tsk, tsk.....careful who you treat unfairly dark haired young lady.

If I could rate this store at a negative 5 stars, I WOULD. After returning from visiting my…read moregrandmother in her rehabilitation facility, my mother and I stopped by here in search of some furniture ideas and price points. Upon realization that it was a large showroom of overpriced particle board made in China "liquidated" furniture, we quickly understood that this was not exactly what we were looking for but we're interested in exploring the rest of the showroom. That is, until we were arrogantly and viscously confronted by a young woman with brown lipstick. This staff member divided my mother and I and then continued to block my path and proceeded to follow me through an aisle aggressively asking what I was looking for, after I stated "I am just looking" she asked me about five more times what I was looking for. As I turned the corner, she then told me "well I am just going to keep following you" AND SHE DID!! All the way back to the front door! I felt very smothered and almost threatened. My mother, watching the conversation from a distance, decided that it was better for us to leave the premises as to terminate the rude and pushy nature of this said staff member from hounding questions towards me. We then walked out of the door as she continued to ask questions about what we were looking for AGAIN. We got into our vehicle and the said staff member proceeded out of the store entry door and stated "we are a family business... so...." I'm not sure what that had to do with anything, I have a family business myself and have been in MANY family businesses all over the country and never have I acted in such a way to my clients nor have I been treated as such trash as she's made us feel. I will say that I am young as well, I am well rounded and respectful to EVERYONE. I was not dressed nor acted as a threat so I'm not sure where her hostility came from but I definitely felt attacked and watched, for no given reason. I will also mention I have traveled the world, bought from foreigners and even stepped inside a Louis Vuitton luggage store in Beverly Hills California and they didn't treat me any less than a human being. Beware buyers, unless you have skin of steel and a patience for aggressive floor salespersons, I'd advise to promote a "family business" with your hard earned money, morale, and self esteem somewhere else.
