There are also several recitals throughout the year so my son has really learned the performance aspect of being a musician. My son has ADHD and his teachers are able to engage him throughout the lesson. As someone who is experienced in both adolescent development and pedagogy, Orpheus is, in my opinion, the best music school in central Texas.

I am editing my review, because I just read the review from a "previous student." I have no idea what happened, but I know for a fact that she takes checks and sends invoices. She has since 2021 when we started. We've been through three recitals, and she has never forced my child to play a piece she does not want to play. However, every good teacher guides a student. Teaching is imparting knowledge of a subject. As for the IRS comment and bullying this person sounds like someone who gets mad and starts making false accusations out of their anger to hurt the other person instead of dealing in an adult manner with the issue.

DO NOT take your instrument here for setups…read more I visited Musicians Woodshed last week and initially spoke with one of the guitar techs, Jett Boyd, who was polite and professional. We discussed my bass guitar and the possibility that some frets might need adjustment. When I returned the following week after noticing some fret buzz, I spoke with Miles Manglos. I explained that I prefer a very straight neck with low action and that I was not interested in adding more relief to the neck. Because of that, the logical solution would have been to address the fret work. Instead, he suggested doing a setup that would involve adding relief and raising the action--the exact opposite of what I had just explained I wanted. When I asked whether that meant adding neck relief and how that would affect the current setup, he couldn't clearly explain it. I also mentioned that at a different shop in another city, a tech had previously performed a setup even though I specifically asked him not to and only wanted the jack repaired. I brought this up simply to explain why I was trying to be very clear about the work I wanted done. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, Miles abruptly declined to work on the instrument and told me to leave. He was dismissive and repeatedly said he didn't understand what I was saying. A competent guitar tech or luthier should be able to translate what a musician is describing and communicate clearly about the work being recommended. If a shop cannot or does not want to perform a certain service, that's fine--but it should be handled respectfully and professionally. Unfortunately, this interaction came across as pretentious and unhelpful, and it left a very negative impression of the shop.

Ms…read more Westlund is a professional musician and it shows in the level of quality from her studio to her lessons. She holds her students to a high standard and they shine because of it. Not only does she teach lessons but she has also developed her own piano course. Our daughter is 6 and has taken only a few lessons. We were impressed from the start. After the very first lesson, she came home and played no less than 5 songs for us. She is also very fond of Ms. Westlund who is a genuinely nice person. Ms. Westlund teaches all ages and levels. She offers a few other services as well, such as voice lessons or solo pianist for events.
