Currently we have Steve for voice and Danielle for piano, and we adore them both. Steve makes my daughter feel super comfortable (which is vital with singing, where you really have to put yourself out there. It can be so hard to get kids over that performance anxiety -- is there anything worse than embarrassment to an 11-year old?? -- but Steve's sense of humor works wonders with the kids.) And Danielle is absolutely lovely and made my daughter feel really good about her progress. The other person we interact with a lot is Brenda, who handles scheduling, appointments, payments, calls, recitals ... basically she runs the place. Not only is Brenda super organized and helpful, but she's also the nicest person you'll probably ever come across. We feel really lucky to have this school right here in Pflugerville. I hope they never move!

Imagine my surprise when I found out that the installed Fender tuner didn't work. I called this Guitar Center and they told me to return my uke. Meanwhile, the owner of the store I was in called the Fender company, and was told this uke's installed tuner (and maybe all Fenders, IDK) is designed to only work when it's plugged into an amp. WHAT???? I called my store, they didn't know this very basic fact about FENDERS? Shouldn't they know that? How can someone who works in a guitar store not know the installed tuners don't work on something they sell (unless plugged into an amp)? Additionally, when I purchased this uke, they just handed it to me and went back to their computers, they didn't ask if I needed to know anything about what I just spent hundreds of dollars on. They could have asked me "do you need any help understanding this instrument?" Nope. They just went back to their business. There was no personal service in this store at all. But they sure did want me to positively review them.

I am an adult beginner starting from scratch with little to no background or knowledge. I have been taking lessons from Josh for 10 months or so now and thoroughly enjoy it looking forward to each lesson. Josh teaches at my pace while continuing to push and challenge my abilities. I am learning to play guitar and read music, beat and strum patterns and along the way learning applicable music theory when it makes sense in helping to answer my questions. He is always supportive, positive and encouraging. I have a friend that began learning from an online app at the same time I started and he has since all but stopped. When we compared notes on how it was going, it was apparent to me the value I was receiving right away...1 on 1 attention and instruction, discussion of hand and body position in relation to notes played and what I should be feeling, thinking and anticipating among other things. You cant get that from an app! Josh teaches how you should learn in order to correctly build your base for success as you improve your skills. Josh demonstrates a wealth of knowledge and is able to play a variety of guitar styles and music. Lastly, he keeps it fun! He balances the things you need to know with the music you enjoy and want to play leaving you wanting more and feeling successful. There are not enough good things I can say about Josh. As a 40-something learning music for the first time, I found Josh not only knowledgeable, but incredibly patient. This patience not only applied to my abilities and learning capabilities, but to the obstacles that working adults often face while pursuing a hobby. Couple this with the fact that he is engaging and just an all-around good guy, I would recommend him anyone looking to take lessons. Whether it's rock, country, or classical, Josh has you covered. I also have experience with him as a parent. My daughter (11) is also taking lessons with him. Like my own experience, I've found his engagement with my daughter to be just as great as with me. I have seen tremendous growth with her over the past several months. Not only that, but she also loves going to lessons and learning from him. Neither my daughter or I come from a musical family, so to be able to see growth is amazing to both me and my wife. I think her time with Josh has really prepared her for middle school band and set her on a path toward lifelong musicianship. Overall, I don't think you could do any better instructor-wise. I've taken lessons for about 7 months at ATX Guitar Lessons. I had never even picked up the instrument before, but was interested in learning a new hobby. Josh allowed me to take a free intro lesson with one of his guitars so I could see if it was something I wanted to pursue before making any investments. He also offers a reasonably priced starter price for 3 months - which I decided to do. I have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time thanks to Josh! The 30-minute lessons are structured around the student's interest. There are many paths you can take with guitar, and Josh gives you a little exposure to each (strumming/singing, technical solos, blues, power chords, etc), so you can discover what you're most interested in. He also teaches a little bit of music theory (if the student is eager to learn) which helps explain why songs are structured the way they are, enabling students to be able to improvise/create their own music. read more

Josh is great as an instructor, and I would highly recommend him to any interested students. I have found his approach to be extremely individualized and I am routinely impressed with how much prep work he does for each of our lessons. Josh does a good job of making you feel supported but also not letting you off the hook, which is what I need in a coach to push me to the next level. Josh also adapts his lessons to what is working for you, so we've incorporated theory and learning how theory in the book translates to the guitar and vice-versa. I've been taking guitar lessons from Josh for about 8 months and it's been an absolutely rewarding experience. I never had any kind of musical instruction before, not even as a kid, so we started with the basics. In the first class we talked about what I wanted to achieve with my lessons, and he's done a great job of introducing me to technique/principles of music and having me learn songs that are fun, but also challenging enough to push me further each time. What I appreciate most of all is his encouragement and patience. That's been absolutely key for me. Josh is a great instructor. My girls are 11 and 12 and were absolute beginners when we started. Now, two years later, I love hearing the sounds of guitar coming from their bedrooms -- as they voluntarily choose to practice and play on their own. Instead of a chore like some other classes are, the kids enjoy learning guitar. Josh gives them fun songs, so much so that the girls are eager to tell me (and proud of) what they are learning. He's very patient and guides and coaches in a way that is not critical but instructive. He's also very flexible which we appreciate given our family's schedule and travels. If you want to learn everything about the guitar and music in general, Josh is your teacher. He is very patient with you and knows the pace you need to be on. Josh is unique in that he focuses on the songs that you want to learn. He will quickly learn the songs that you want to learn and will write them out for you and teach you to read them, step by step. In the way he explains the concepts of the guitar, you will be able to figure out many things on your own. He will tell you what you're doing wrong and help you fix it. Not only is Josh great with kids, but he allows our son to choose some of his own music - and takes the time to find it and writes out the sheet music for us! - but he also trains on technique and has him playing some of the more classical songs that are good to learn. Susan Leach has been providing flute lessons to my son over the past 2 years with the first year being virtual due to the pandemic. My son as a beginning flutist entered into his second year of middle school already propelled to the highest of 3 bands at school. Furthermore, he earned top tier position in performance by winning district level and competed at regionals within his first 3 months of playing flute with other musicians in a live non-virtual setting. Susan's capabilities as an outstanding musician are well established given her tenure as a professional flutist in orchestra of which she performs, but not just anyone can also take that level of talent and teach another person. She is flexible on schedule and always has been accommodating. Premier Music Academy as a business is fantastic at communication and every one of my engagements involved working directly for the owner and manager of the school. All that being said, Premier Music Academy is my ONLY recommended school for private instruction in the area and they offer a wide spectrum of top tier instructors across an array of wind, brass, string (including all styles of guitar), and percussion instrumentation (yes including Piano and Keyboard) along with vocal instruction as well.

I signed my daughter up for violin lessons after a trial lesson that seemed promising. Then, had…read moreanother two lessons where the majority of the half hour was eaten up by tuning the violin (although my daughter didn't take the violin out of the case in between lessons). We registered on the 12th, and on the 30th of the same month, I let them know I wanted to cancel. They are now charging me for another month of lessons, despite my cancellation request. Beware that if you sign up mid-month, you'll be on the hook for another 4 lessons, despite no services rendered.

Here's what I have to say about the experience I've had: I have David Price as my teacher, and I am utterly grateful for his instruction. He is fantastic--always involved in every step of the lesson, playing along with me, giving me directions as well as examples of what to do, and he's just a down-to-earth guy who's friendly and kind. The owner, Kath, is sweet as can be, and every single person I've met from that school has been helpful, friendly and polite. The school is clean; the environment is welcoming; the instruction from my teacher is second to none, and I've had four teachers, counting him. I am very happy with everything I've experienced so far. I am excited to see how I grow as a violinist over the coming months and years.

As a musician myself, it was very important to me that my son's first music teacher (and a coach) knew how to engage kids, meet him where he was, and bring out the best in him (easier said than done). Fortunately, everyone we've met at Dolce has been absolutely fantastic. Our family truly feels blessed to have found this place. A special thanks to Brenda and Jack. She says without a doubt that Stephen at Dolce is her favorite instructor of all those she has had. She enjoys her lessons and he is really good at communicating with her. The only thing I would like to see as an improvement is a good way to motivate her to practice. She has joined the Youth Chamber Orchestra at Dolce and that has helped a lot because there are other kids her age that she plays with and she doesn't want to be embarrassed by not knowing her part. Also, having performances to prepare for helps, but I wish they made a bigger deal about the performances approaching and perhaps had some system of accountability for the kids to work for, even if it was just a little prize. P.S. I save 5 star reviews for very few places, so 4 stars from me is pretty dang awesome!!
