We purchased our 4000 square-foot house in 2003. In 2017 after some carpet replacements we decided to rip up the carpet for the stairs and hallway landing and have hardwood put down. We checked with three of our neighbors and two of them had used J Wood so we invited them to come in and estimate as well as two other companies. The owner Jose Nunez does all of the estimates personally and we liked his approach to business. While his price was not the cheapest we knew from our neighbors that he would do a good job His company has just finished redoing our bedrooms and we are extremely happy with the quality of the work. When all of the wood was put down and sanded we noticed that some of the pieces of oak were lighter than some of the others. The workman who was doing the staining worked on each individual plank that we pointed out and did an awesome job in blending everything together. Yesterday they finished and tomorrow his staff will be in to finish the trim and replace the furniture. What we like best about working with J Wood is the quality, cleanliness, promptness, politeness and friendliness of their crews. We have already asked Jose to quote a third project. read more

On 12-20-2021 they came out to give me a quote on doing work in both my bathrooms. As well as hardwood floors on entire downstairs. Along with 2 set of staircases and breeze walk upstairs. I was insulted by him telling me that my bathroom was outdated. He showed me some modern bathrooms. The colors were grey and white. I told him look at my house. I have a traditional theme. We went downstairs for him to do more measurement. He proceed to tell me that they could remove a wall we have to dividing my kitchen and family room. I told him I didn't want that remove. This was one of the main selling points for me purchasing the house. I needed a quote on the work I wanted done. NOT ways for him to change my house. With all this being said. As of today 02-20-2022 we have YET to get a quote. At this point I don't want it. They will never do work for me anyway. read more

We found JWood flooring/ Jose after we moved to the USA. Due to allergies of our daughter we had to have all floors removed in our house and needed floors that would be safe for her. They went above and beyond! They found the right wood floor that our daughter did not react too. They researched so much to make sure she was safe. A whole team came to our house and put down around 2700sf of wood. Everything was perfect! I was pregnant and the team was so sweet and caring! When they saw me coming home from grocery shopping they would come out and bring everything inside for me. They cleaned and even spend their lunch break playing with my daughter. Started a home renovation on a rental house and was only going to use the for the floors but soon gave them the entire house to renovate. They were quick to get to work, very professional, top quality materials and were quick to address questions and give solutions. They redid bathrooms (floors and bathtub and shower tiles), put in cabinets, put hardwood floors throughout, refaced the front porch, and added a gorgeous back porch for us. We wanted lattice work on the deck and they hand built it for us. They went above and beyond any expectations. We are also selling our current house and he came and did things in this one for us. In early 2014, I collected quotes from 3 sources. Just Wood wasn't the cheapest but wasn't the most expensive. They were the most credible. In the shop they spent a lot of time discussing the different types of wood and the pros and cons of engineered hardwood vs solid wood. They introduced me to cork underlayment and even had me check out a neighbor's job, with their permission. After I made my decision the wood and tile was deliverEd fairly quickly. They installed the whole main level of wood and tile in under a week despite having to remove a glued down wood floor in the kitchen and take 2 days off for a massive snow and ice storm in Feb 2014. Installation team was family or at least full time. They were considerate and very good about everyday cleanup as well the final clean up. The tile is very level and quite solid even 2 1/2 years later. We did have a little delay in removing the final scrap mostly due to me leaving town 15 mons after they finished the floor. A week later we coordinated pick up of the final set of debris. I had a few minor problems after installation with folding doors removed and replaced and the dishwasher but they were minor and vastly overshadowed by the quality of work on flooring. I especially enjoy the extra effort made to lay the wood very close to the bathroom tiles to avoid a transition strip and on a sloped floor in my closet. They even made custom shoe rails on the slope to better use the space. They did a great job at a reasonable price. read more

Just had my floors done by J.Wood, had the scraped hickory installed, about 650sq ft. The house is old and has settled a lot , built in 57 and the bedroom floor needed work. I'm not going to talk price because that's not why I'm giving them 5 stars, it was the service, the crew and the care they took of my furniture, my dogs, and the amount of prep work to get the floor correct. They could of laid any thing down and I would not know the difference, they leveled, sanded, filled, vapor barrier, knocked down nail crowns, everything, before laying down one plank of wood. They went beyond the contract for perfection, moulding, shimming, cleanliness and incredibly polite. These are smart guys and a lady, they don't need to be told what to do, they are on it!
