What a pleasant surprise to find a very authentic Chinese Restaurant in Kelowna, BC!! They have…read morereal Dim Sum!! Since After searching on Yelp ... we came with anticipation and we were totally blown away with their various dishes!! The dining room is bright and has a youthful ambiance! I always have a soft spot for Ma Po Tofu ( a Szechuan Spicy Tofu dish ) and I am happy to report that it was super delicious ... too bad it was only two of us and we couldn't order too many other dishes! But I am glad I ordered my fav dish! The Spicy Wonton is also done just right, not too spicy and the filling still very juicy and the wonton wrappings were super smooth in texture! I also liked their version of Singapore Style Fried Rice Vermicelli .. not greasy at all and have the distinctive " Wok Hei"! Overall, this is a great addition to the local Asian food scene, run by very friendly family ... in times like these, its important to support small local business! Since its just across from the Kelowna Airport ... its super convenient to hop off the plane and order yourself authentic dim sum and enjoy some fruity green tea!!

Happy I called to verify whether dim sum was avail on a Sunday morning (website states 4-8:30). Quite happy they serve congee (chicken or pork w/ preserved egg), which satisfied my "Chinese craving". Dishes we ordered satisfied our dim sum craving...flavours were okay, but definitely the place to go in between visits to Richmond or Toronto. Service was good, considering they were busy, and it appeared the lady was running around with more haste and expertise than the young man. Having grown up in Toronto and had dim sum from San Francisco, Vancouver, and Hong Kong, this place may not be best in comparison but love that they are avail to satisfy that dim sum craving while in the Okanagan! This is a rating of 3.5.

Fairly new to the area, in search of a dim sum place to satisfy the craving should it creeps up…read more.. Growing up Chinese in the Toronto area and multiple trips to Hong Kong and Vancouver over the past 30 years+, I have had good and not-so-great dim sum. This place is below par in my book...I got excited when I saw "shrimp rice roll" in the menu to discover it is the frozen T&T ones which I can get from the Superstore (the imprint from the plastic tray was a giveaway). This place is good for anyone who may not have had as much dim sum experience as myself etc, but for anyone who have had hundreds of dim sum meals, I would advise checking out the place across the street from KLW... Service was great...food was not quite up to par for me.

The restaurant looks newish. The dim sum menu is limited…read more We ordered: - Shrimp & pork dumplings (sui mai). They were ok. Nothing special. - Shrimp dumplings (har gow). Not a fan of that type of wrapper but they were tasty. - Shanghai pork dumpling- very tasty. Enjoyed the light ginger flavour. - Pork dumplings - just a lump of minced pork. No real flavour. - Black bean chicken feet. Are larger than usual bc they use the ones that are cut higher up the leg. While they were properly cooked, there was no black bean taste at all. Kind of disappointing. - Tofu skin pork rolls. These were good. Lots of stuff in there besides minced pork. Had things been more seasoned, we would have given them a higher score. But at this point we can't give them more than a 3.5.

My husband and I were in Kelowna to visit some friends (we met at the halfway point, aka Kelowna)…read more When his friend mentioned they were in the mood for Chinese or Japanese food, my mind went to the Asian Pear Buffet. I had never been to this restaurant before and had no idea what to expect other than they would have Chinese food, and it would be a buffet. Turns out, Asian Pear has Chinese, Japanese and Western buffet food. We walked in and were seated promptly to an open table, though I did find out later they did reservations, at least for large groups. Drinks are separate from the buffet food price (the food price was reasonable). My husband ordered a beer and was less than impressed with the size; they gave him a can of beer for the price of a pub pint. I didn't have the heart to tell him that Asian establishments are probably not known for delivering on great value for alcoholic beverages. I was impressed with almost everything else at the buffet. The plates were on the smaller side, but it didn't matter because I could simply get seconds and thirds. The staff are great at clearing your plates quickly. They had a good selection of Chinese, Western and Japanese (sushi) food. I was impressed by the selection for Chinese foods; I saw Sweet and Sour soup, lots of fried rice and noodles and even coconut buns in the dessert section! I liked most of the stuff I tried, expect for the custard dessert they had...it tasted cough syrup sweet. My only caution is to not order the canned alcoholic drinks... you'd probably get more bang for your buck if you went to a pub after the buffet. I think this is a great place in Kelowna if you are looking to satisfy your Chinese/Japanese cravings and if you are into buffet portions. Staff are efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back the next time I'm in Kelowna.

We had the chicken chow mein and sweet and sour pork with pineapple. The sweet and sour was fairly good - tender pork in the usual bright red sauce with lots of onions, peppers and a few pieces of pineapple. I found the sauce too sweet for my taste but the kiddo liked it! The chicken chow mein was just okay, thicker noodle that was too soft for my preference. I'm used to a drier , thinner noodle that has some crunchy bits to it. I guess when compared to Vancouver's chinese food, it's not quite on par! Well, points for being fairly quick, easy to order online and decent portions. I'll have to try more dishes to get a better sense of what this place has to offer.

Took 40 mins for pickup, not too bad especially since it's a Saturday. The lady who took our order on the phone was very nice. We ordered: vegetable fried rice without egg, Singapore fried noodle, ma Po tofu without meat, veggies in black bean sauce and corn soup without chicken. Portion sizes were pretty good. Our faves were the stir fried veggies in black bean sauce and ma po tofu. What I liked about the fried rice was that it had that smokey fried in a hot wok taste but not oily.
