Had the flank steak stack medium rare with creamed spinach. Shared the Man Candy! Corona nonalcoholic beer. Noisy, friendly, 20 minutes' wait. Needs mocktails and nonalcoholic beverages on the menu! Because each guest either drives there or comes there with a driver. No walk in, bus, or ride share guests

My 88 year old aunt and I ate lunch here while I was visiting. The food was OFF THE CHARTS. The noise level was such that she could not really hear me across the table - We have the fried pimento cheese (OMG) and the wedge salad and the beef flatbread. I definitely look forward to their food again (maybe to go - so we can visit!)

We came to J Wilson's for brunch on a Sunday. Our waiter was good, nice and kept our drinks full. I was told their lemonade was very good. I had sweet tea and it was a good. It's a cute spot with cool decor, I don't know if we arrived during or after a rush but the floor was quite dirty. Everyone enjoyed their food. Biscuits were good, but a little dry and the gravy was very good. Ingredients looked and tasted fresh. The steak was cooked good and the potatoes had a nice fried crisp to them. I had the skillet breakfast with tortillas, made a taco and then just ate some, it was tasty and their salsa was pretty good too. These portions are hefty as well, with 3 of us getting to-go boxes. Overall, good brunch spot we chose while visiting.

Happy that I stopped here as I passed into Texas from Louisiana. I sat at the bar and had a delicious appetizer, craft brew, and Grilled Chicken Sandwich as my dinner entree. The inside was spacious and nice. The bartenders and staff were pleasant and efficient in their work. The whole mood and vibe was supper cool. Enjoyed my time here. Thanks for having me!

Since I've been visiting Beaumont more recently I've been on the search to find some great eats here. J.Wilson checked all the boxes. Service & food were great! Very cozy dimly lit dining area. Plus sides they stay open pretty late for all you weekend late night dinners!

My hubby, brother and sis in law stopped by for dinner prior to a concert at Ford Park. And we will drive back to Beaumont (from Houston) just eat at J. Wilson's. The place is nice and cozy inside and the food was delicious, flavorful and served up in a timely manner. Our waitress was super sweet, she got swamped by a 45 top party (a testament to the delicious food) and other team members stepped in to make sure we were taking care of. She came back and apologized even though not necessary. Highly recommend the creamed spinach as it was one of the best I've ever had. The boudin balls were also amazing. My sis in law got a seafood bisque and she said it was better than the one she waited 3 hours for a restaurant in Vegas. Honestly, one of my top eats this year. Can't wait to go back

The service and ambiance are fine, just a casual dining and bar. Could be family friendly too. But for a steakhouse in Texas I was not impressed with the food. I ordered a ribeye steak with crab and hollandaise sauce. The steak had a striking presentation on a sizzling cast iron plate. However, that plate continues cooking the steak, so if it was medium rare by the time it left the kitchen, it was well done by the time I started eating it. It was totally dry when halfway through. The hollandaise was good, the crab was dry and flavorless. The sides we ordered - Brussels and potatoes - were so salty and greasy. Both delicate items that don't need much prep to be tasty, but so over cooked they were no longer crunchy and the potatoes over saturated in oil and cheese.

Formal Complaint Regarding Food Contamination and Manager Misconduct Date of Incident: May 30, 2025 Location: JWilson's Restaurant On May 30, 2025, around 2:00 PM, I purchased a quesadilla from JWilson's. As I was finishing the last piece, I noticed what appeared to be a cluster of maggot eggs inside the food. I was horrified. I immediately took photos and returned to the restaurant with the remaining portion, hoping to alert the staff and prevent anyone else from being served contaminated food. (Was in a plastic bag) The manager on duty, Easton, along with several hosts--and my boyfriend, who was present when I ate the food--witnessed the contamination. Easton was kind and apologetic, took my name and number, and assured me the matter would be handled appropriately. About fifteen minutes later, I received a call from another manager named Christina. That's when the situation took a disturbing turn. Christina immediately accused me of lying, insisting there were no maggot eggs in the food--despite multiple witnesses seeing them. And all the pictures I have as well as it's on her person. She said, "You can report it to the health department, but it's not going to do anything. You don't have any proof." This was so appalling to me in addition to being accused of lying. When I asked for her last name, she refused to provide it and stated, "I don't have to tell you anything." This is so bizarre. I asked if the contaminated food had been thrown away and requested to retrieve it for the health department. Christina only responded to threaten to call the police if I came back.(i have voice memo running the whole time by this time of being accused of lying. I don't want any he said she said going on ) I told her to leave the bag at the host desk. She laughed. I returned to JWilson's solely to retrieve the food for evidence. They were apologetic again and told us to sit at the bar and brought us tea. We were talking to a lovely couple when, Christina randomly followed through on her threat--she called the police- after we had been apologized to and brought teas- christina had both me and my boyfriend issued trespassing warrants. I recorded the entire encounter for my safety and to ensure the facts are clear. And I'm glad I did. This situation shocked me so much I asked to shake her hand at the end, and said, "I'm not sure why we wouldn't settle this as manager and customer. There's no reason to get your feelings involved in a transaction. Woman to woman that is so odd." She refused and continually gave me a stank face. She did make a comment and said "do you remember me" and I'm not sure what she's talking about if she's got me confused with someone else but the servers love us we are good tippers we actually care about them. They literally came up and fist bumped us and said hey like they always do. To be absolutely clear: I never asked for a refund. I didn't want compensation. I simply wanted the unsafe food returned so I could report it to the appropriate health authorities. Instead, I was insulted, threatened, and treated like a criminal for bringing attention to a serious health risk. The final slice of the quesadilla contained over 60 visible maggot eggs. That raises horrifying questions about how much I unknowingly ate. The line cook saw it and still served it. I have the receipt, photos, and the full recording. This is not cool. I have filed a formal complaint against Christina for unprofessional conduct, threats, and obstructing a health-related concern. I will also be reporting this incident--with full documentation--to the local health department. This wasn't just poor customer service. This was a violation of public trust and basic health safety. She gave me a warrant because of a personal issue. What a bad look for such a good business with such good workers. Edit: I know your full name that you so weirdly refused to provide me with even though you have my full information after setting me up to sit and bring me tea only to call the police. We have spent thousands willingly because of the establishment. Crazy of you as a "professional" Ms. Kristina "Kristin" Payton. You have been reported through and through, this could have been resolved but because of you, now you have to be resolved. Settle your personal disputes outside of your work. You either have me confused with another individual, or you have a twisted bone to pick. Either or, unprofessional and unjust Ms. Payton. Shame on you as a woman and as a worker. You couldn't shake my hand, you couldn't be an adult. Now your actions are attached to this business that has been busting their booty and grinding to make a name for themselves.

I wish we had made it to JWilson's earlier on our brief trip to Beaumont. We went at about 6pm on Tuesday and were seated immediately. People have posted about the noise level, and it to be fair, it is loud, but we perceived it as lively with extremely happy clientele! Lots of families (I didn't notice many children but that was probably due to the day of the week and time of day). The background music was fantastic. The food was EXCELLENT. I am vegetarian and I was overjoyed by my selections. I had the Marguerita pizza on a cauliflower crust, side Greek Salad, and we shared the Brussels sprouts. My husband started with the fried pickles (highly recommended) and had shrimp but I as a veghead can't recall which dish! The Margarita was among the best I have ever had. For dessert, husband had the deep dish chocolate chip cookie (slayed) and I had a death wish so I ordered the flourless chocolate cake. I can honestly say it was the best I've tasted, and the texture was amazing. I am a proud chocoholic and I couldn't even finish it. Last but most certainly not least, we were lucky to be taken care of by Madeline, who was simply amazing. So professional, kind, helpful, and engaging! I wish I could time travel and relive the entire dinner. I wish we didn't live so far away!

So glad we decided on J Wilson's last night for dinner! Although there was a wait, there was plenty of benches outside to accommodate and we got one of those light up thingamajigs and were seated within 15 minutes. We did have to wait another 10 minutes for them to figure out who was our waitress but when she did arrive, she was really cool. We decided to start with the fried pickles and WOW - these were SO good! Thin, crispy and not greasy AT ALL. We could have just shared those and been happy. I honestly can't say I've had better elsewhere because these were AMAZING. We decided also to split the Smoked Chicken and added Brussels sprouts and the potato wedges. It came out already split up on two plates and WOW. The chicken was SO moist and delicious! It melted in our mouths! The Brussels sprouts could have use a bit of salt but were cooked perfectly and wonderfully delectable. The potato wedges were dangerous. I gave those to my husband because I could have eaten every single last one! Our food was perfect, our waitress was kind and friendly and my only complaint was the noise level and the traffic. This place was so incredibly loud that we couldn't talk to each other without yelling and it was so crowded (on a Thursday) that people were standing at the bar directly next to our table. I'm talking butts in our faces. So that was a bit annoying and made it less of a "date night" for us. I'll be back for the food for sure! read more

I came. I ate. I left. I ordered Shimp N Grits. I liked the shrimps but that's about it. The grits tasted off and too gritty (lol my expressions sometimes cracks me up) and the gravy tasted like it was yey or ney bought from walmart or the alikes. Huge disappointment. And the two sides that came with this grit was brussels sprouts and creamed spinach. And out of the whole meal, the creamed spinach tasted the best. My bf ordered the catfish. He did not like his meal at all. It came with a half plate full of cole slaw (or at least I think). That was consumable yet not desirable to consume. The fish tasted too fishy (in my opinion) but my bf said something about it at least being fresh. So I guess fish=fresh?? :P Only reason why I gave this place three stars was because our waiter was so nice that he offered to take our sides of brussels sprouts out since we pointed out to him that it tasted burnt and etc. But other than that, the main entries that we got deserves 1 or 2 star. This place was good for a first attempt but we don't think we'll be back. Me and bf both agreed that out of the whole meal, the creamed spinach tasted the best.. Looks like this place has so much potential but seems like the chef is not taking any chances with his menu. read more

I went here a while ago and it was really good. The food was good, we had an appetizer, an entree, and desserts, and they were all very good. The food came out quickly. The service was attentive and friendly, drinks were always full and I never had to wait too long for anything, which I really respect as a server myself. I was able to make a reservation ahead of time, which is very useful during limited opening. It was clean and a nice bar and grill environment. The menu has a good selection of many flavors. It was very enjoyable and I would definitely go again. read more

Pricey and Disappointed. Pros-staff was great and atmosphere ok. Cons- Pricey & chicken was tasty but tough. Grilled fish & coleslaw was bland. Cream spinach ok. There was no wow. Less than average meal for twice the price. Sorry, we were very disappointed. read more

Two years ago when I was back in Beaumont from college and wanted to go to brunch, the first thing Google suggested was Waffle House, and there weren't many more options after that. Now, I don't have anything against Waffle House, but when you're looking for a good homemade brunch with mimosas, it just won't cut it. Luckily J. Wilson's has since come into the picture! Since J. Wilson's has opened I've only ever heard good things about it. I visited on a Saturday morning to catch up with a friend over brunch and I had a wonderful experience! Even with a pretty full restaurant, the noise level wasn't bad and it was a great place to catch up. With the decor I think they're going for a classy/rustic/Southern (???) vibe which fits well with it's food and ambiance, lending the restaurant well for date nights, brunches, family dinners, or even just drinks. I ordered the Breakfast Bowl and it was great! It had scrambled eggs with gouda, bacon, pico, and guacamole, then potatoes and a biscuit with gravy, it definitely filled me up! The eggs and biscuit with gravy were amazing and I couldn't imagine them being any better. The potatoes left a little to be desired in the way of flavor and crispness, but certainly weren't terrible. All of this for $11 definitely felt worth it. My friend and I ordered mimosas and our waiter suggested we get a carafe, and that suggestion was all we needed to go for it! I don't remember how much a single mimosa would have cost, but the carafe was $14 and we each got 3 full drinks from it! So it ended up only being about $2.30 per drink, seemed like a great deal to me! Waiter was kind and attentive and food service was normal, maybe even a little quick. Can't wait to go back when I'm in Beaumont again! read more

Came here a few months ago before my graduation and ate an amazing meal. But the best part was dessert. Raspberry white chocolate bread pudding...OMG! My mom has been talking about it ever since. Summer vacation rolls around and we're headed back home from Florida. Mom casually asks if we can stop in Beaumont. We ordered break pudding and creme brûlée. Bread pudding was even better than we remembered. My husband also ordered the man candy app. Def a new fav restaurant stop. They also have a pretty good selection of beers on tap. read more

Vickie was knowledgeable and a pro waitress. The location is easy for this Houston driver to get to. Quaint exterior and very nice interior. We ordered a grown man's grill cheese meal and a grill chicken sandwich with potato wedges. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Afterward we fell for the "flower less" cake dessert and two cups of decaf FRESH Italian blend coffee. FYI: everyone of us (ftmp) have had flowerless cake dessert. You know it as a slab of fudge! Food The man candy AMAZING simply AMAZING. It's porkbelly with a spicy yet sweet glaze. A "must-order" appetizer without question I had the corn beef hash, which I thought was just okay. (The reason I rate 4 stars) Other people at my table ordered the chef burger and they loved it. Next time I'm sticking to that guy. Service Outstanding... bartender during our wait for a table was friendly, fast, and courteous. (Makes a solid Bloody Mary) Waiter...again fast, friendly, and courteous The manager really took the cake....she made sure we were always taken care of. She even ran over to take our drink orders when she saw the waiter hadn't made his way over. She is what a true leader in the restaurant business should be about. This really stayed with me because I've been to countless restaurants with just lousy/lazy managers. A great place to eat. I couldn't rate it a 5 just yet because I have to be honest about my food. Say yes, yes, yes to the man candy, but don't order the corn beef hash. Just as an FYI they have craft beers from a variety of places (all over Texas, Colorado, etc) read more

My buddy raved about this place so much I decided to just try it. Parking can be a nightmare, I didn't wanna park in the shopping center next to it as I was afraid of being towed. I had their cuban sandwich, it was good and the service was great, but man the price. It's expensive, and honestly the menu was hard to navigate for me, I didn't really know what to order so I went with the safe bet and got a Cuban Sandwich. This place is definitely a cool place to take a date or just a nice dinner with some friends. I'll probably be back sometime soon! read more

Great food and great staff here. The environment is great. Had not been here in forever but was in the area for work and decided to stop in. I just had the flatbread and the bread pudding as I was craving both of those. The flatbread was hot and fresh and the bread pudding was great end to a good day of work and a good meal. read more

If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor. Outside of their "Man Candy", it's tough to recommend any one thing. Everything we've had here was great. On this visit, my wife had the shrimp and grits and I had the flank steak stack. Both were amazing. They also make a great old fashioned. read more

My biggest concern remained the comment I made before we left the house. They've gotten covid in the staff a couple times. I walked in and the Bar is packed. Bars are supposed to be closed. The staff is wandering around with their noses out of the masks. Most customer wander around with no mask or it around their chins. there are no social distanced booth tables. Back to back people and olny the chair tables are every other. No baracade between booth tables of any sort! read more

I had heard wrong about JWilsons, that the food was just okay but my daughter set me straight and said it was their new favorite place to go. Fortunately a friend of my husband invited us to brunch soon after and we enjoyed it so much that we've been back several times now. Everything I've had from the menu I have absolutely loved. Had another great meal at J. Wilson's on Saturday. Anybody passing through Bmt on I-10, you can't go wrong with this place--it is one of the truly exceptional eateries in Southeast Texas. J added a margherita flatbread to the menu, so delicious. I had it with some 'Man Candy' to try to lean on the paleo side ;-) read more

Tried J Wilsons for the first time at lunch this past Tuesday. Very impressed with service, food, variety of menu, and that the owner was there and stopped by to talk to us! We both had the Cuban Reuben and it was delicious! Only thing I requested was some dill pickle. It's a little loud in the restaurant at peak hours, so don't plan on here for a quiet eating experience. But I won't ding them a star for that. Some people like noise. read more

This place is brand new and long awaited. Glad they took the time to get it right. Bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. Dropped in for a quick lunch early on a Saturday and ordered the special house burger made from half brisket half chuck! Tremendous flavor. First time coming to this restaurant and now I wished I would have just waited for a table at The Toasted Yolk. The food was Subpar. There was nothing that stood out about this place. The service was the worst part. Our waitress was the only one we saw sitting down between waiting on her tables. This is a WONDERFUL find!!! Our waitress, Maggie, did a superb job of giving us mouth-watering descriptions of the menu items and specials. I tried today's special, the lightly-battered fried calamari, and my husband Ricky tried the Grilled Shrimp Quesadillas with crab & avocado dressing. Both meals were outstanding! Everything is made from scratch in-house. We were about to leave, after enjoying a scrumptious meal, when Maggie's golden tongue talked us into dessert. SO glad she did! WOW!!!!!! What I enjoyed most is the ambiance. Prices were a little high and food was okay. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, two main courses and dessert for about $90 (two people). Lazy tamales, Cuban Reuben and crab flatbread. I wouldn't order any of these again, but I'd go back to try other items! For dessert, we tried the apple bread pudding (delicious), but it would have been better with ice cream which they don't have!!! read more

Dixie is the dance club that's managed to stick around for a good number of years in a city that can't seem to get its footing in the nightlife scene. For dancing, the dance floor is great in size and layout. There are clearly defined seating and leaning areas and bars or pool tables on either end. There are 2 bars, both seemingly offering the same things, though one is larger and longer. The one near the bathrooms seems to get less traffic and makes for quicker service. And in Dixie Dance Hall, we have a Beaumont bar that at least uses point of sale computers to input orders, so you have some degree of accuracy with your tab. The light is low, but not so low that you can't see the fancy footwork of some skilled 2-steppers. The decor is minimal and what you'd expect at a country-western dance hall, and overall the establishment is clean. The drinks are mixed strong and drink specials are always offered with promotions listed on their website and Facebook pages. They also advertise nightly specials to get in free or with discounted cover. Usually your cover to Dixie also includes cover to Vain or other Crocket Street venues. On weekend nights, there are test-tube shot girls that come around with their offerings for $2. They are friendly and are able to add these shots to your bar tab. The girls are also easy on the eyes, if you're in to that. The dress code is VERY casual -- think barn wedding attire at best. Jeans and polos abound for the fellas, while ladies easily get away with jean shorts and a tank top. It's a large place, so it won't always be packed to the gills, but if you're looking for a place in Beaumont to dance like nobody's watching and be a little silly, this is as good as it gets.

I've ordered almost everything on the menu. Before I list all the items that stand out I have to note how incredible service is. My boyfriend and I went on our first date here. Everything down to the dessert and scotch was perfect. Their craft beer selection is up to date and pleasing. Some of the bartenders are friends of mine so it would be unfair to toot their horn but the other bartenders who I am just now becoming familiar with are nothing short of spectacular. THIS i how you run a business. The paintings on the wall were a nice touch and added to the conversation. I bought one of those paintings yesterday. Onto the food. Brunch is my favorite. I honestly feel like the bar at J. Wilson's is THE place to be on Sunday for those of us who are enjoying our one day off or trying to get over a hangover. The sausage biscuits and gravy are phenomenal. Hands down, some of the best gravy I've ever had. Yesterday I tried the enchiladas and those were a nice surprise because I honestly thought I was going to be disappointed. When it comes to cheesy grits, J. Wilson's wins every time. I have yet to try a better cheesy grit. The flank salad was filling with all the appropriate ingredients to bring it together. If you're going to get the man candy grilled cheese (I'm a grilled cheese fanatic) then I highly suggest you do but leave the bleu cheese crumbles out of it. The chicken quesadillas were among the best on the appetizer list with that small portion of corn salad that I wish there was more of. Cons: Tomato soup was disappointing. Even when they left the shrimp out it still had a fishy taste which was too much for me. One of the fish flatbreads was also too fishy for me and smelled horrible. I went to J. Wilson's their first week soft opening. One of the things I like about J. Wilson's is a lot of their items come in both half and whole sizes. This let my party and I order several half orders to share and try which is a lot of fun. We had the stroganoff, bisque and cobb salad. Each was very good but the I was very impressed with the cobb salad. It is not your normal cobb salad with some cut up deli meats and a boiled egg. It is nice thick cuts of turkey and ham and devilled eggs! DELICIOUS! We loved the lazy tamale, such a fun concept. We also dined on the grown man grilled cheese and the hamburger. They were both great but you can definitely tell their bread is made in house fresh with the burger! YUMMY! and those fried potatoes, I could not stop eating them! All in all if this was our experience during a soft opening, I look forward to dining at J. Wilsons many times in the future. read more

I stopped by J Wilson's a couple of days ago and sat at the bar, hoping for a good experience. Unfortunately, the bartender, who I believe was named Christie, spent more time badmouthing her coworkers than actually tending to customers. Her attitude was unpleasant, and it made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. I couldn't help but feel that if I asked for anything, I'd become the next target of her negativity. If you plan on sitting at the bar, pray you don't get her as your bartender--because otherwise, my visits here have been pleasant with other bartenders. It's disappointing when one employee's energy brings down the entire experience. I truly hope management takes a hard look at the environment she's creating because I'd much rather take my business elsewhere. read more

Came to Beaumont Texas for a weeklong business trip and I definitely wanted to check out the local food spots. J Wilson's was recommended and my colleague and I thought it was good. A little bit pricer than other eateries in the area, but I'd say it's still fair. The food I got was simple but tasty. Got a chicken plate with a side of Brussel sprouts and the food tasted wholesome and the chicken breast was surprisingly juicy and tender. My colleague ordered the Cuban Reuben and it looked mighty cheesy! I tried a bite and it was a little too heavy for my liking but I'm sure it's a hit at this restaurant. I/We have been coming to J. Wilson's for over 5 years and have been pleased with his quality of food, atmosphere and servers every time. The food is always great, the atmosphere is very relaxing and the servers are friendly and very attentive/knowledgeable. Amazing food and service! We ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread as an appetizer and I got the Cuban Reuben with potato wedges. The sandwich had just the right amount of dressing, the bread was buttery/flaky, and the meat was very tender. I also tried my wife's beef stroganoff and the grilled cheese which were great as well. The prices to me are justified by the quality of food and service that we received. We definitely look forward to our next visit. P. S. My go to (so far) is the Cuban Rueben!! It is pure perfection! This thing is still awesome when I eat the leftovers heated up at home a day or so later. (Oven though. Not microwave.)
