On the first floor you will find all your pet supplies from the usual medications/shampoos to toys and food for dogs/cats/rabbits, etc. They have a few cages tooked round a corner with rabbits/birds/cats,etc for sale and i love looking at them - they are so cute. The kids love coming in just to see the pets. Downstairs they have stuff for like aquariums and reptiles and there used to be a big fishpond in the middle with goldfish but i think it was taken out. They do sometimes have snakes for sale but ive not seem them often. Going downstairs is quite a hassle as the steps are quite steep and it is quite dark and has a wet and eerie feel down there. The garden supplies are upstairs and there are various plants, etc and wooden structures placed outside. The prices arent the cheapest but it is a family firm so they cant place things too cheap. The staff are lovely and friendly. Also they do funeral flowers and wreaths which they will deliver to the funeral parlour or church for you or you can pick up yourself - they have a huge selection. They also offer graveside tributes which they will carve for you too.

They also do reptile and fish products downstairs but be careful not to trip on the steps as they are slippy and steep. They sell garden mowers, etc which are pretty steep in price, infact most goods are dear but they are conveniently located. The staff are lovely and friendly and very helpful. It's a sad fact that the only reason I pop in here is to have a look at the little pets, but one day when I'm a real grown up I may be able to afford to look after my own little *cat/lizard/chipmunk/rabbit/snake! *delete as applicable Anyway, for that kind of fun there is Pet Wise in Otley. Firstly, the less interesting part, the shop is packed. This store has the largest selection of specialist and varied pet foods that I've ever seen in Leeds, they've got every kind of animal covered that I could see. The same applies to the toys and pet accessories - any number of cuddly baskets, play toys, bones, chewy scratchy posts/things and the rest. They even have garden type accessories - bird tables and so on! Now - to the animals! Firstly I came across the fish, there wasn't a huge selection, but there were plenty of beautiful and sweet looking tiddlers. They had little guppies (males £1.75p, females 99p) and little neon tetras for 85p. After that there were all the birds - canaries £17.50, cockatiels, budgerigars and parrots. There were two parrots who weren't for sale but amused me as they kept saying 'hello' and whistling! They also had some little gerbils and hamsters, who were cute but not as cute as the chipmunks! My favourites were the bearded dragons - there's something so austere and proud about their stance. Additionally they had tortoises and rabbits too. I must admit that I've never been a huge fan of caged animals - certainly not caged birds - but I guess the point is that when you purchase them you are meant to purchase a larger cage for them to live in. If I had the money I'd have bought every canary in the place as they were gorgeous, sweet and had the most beautiful song. I can't say that I thought the animals looked particularly unhappy though (perhaps they would have been happier in bigger cages) and they were obviously looked after. Essentially, Pet Wise is a lovely pet store, with clearly passionate staff, and everything you could possibly need for your loved animals. Perhaps even a new edition to the family too!

I have not even received an email telling me when to expect it. Note on their website they post 5 great reviews from satisfied customers. So congratulations to them for getting that many since 2003. Assuming they are genuine comments and not more lies from their staff. My advice is look around at other companies. The kennel I bought from them was ￡216. A dog bed I picked up felt wet from the cold and damp. It was actually warmer stepping outside. I had to cover my face because the damp smell was so strong. I felt so sorry for the animals having to stay in those conditions. I could only tolerate 5 mins. What a shame I used to enjoy visiting there.
