Don't know what made me try this place. I've not been in any of their other locations. Call it lowered expectations or bad service fatigue (most of the places in and around Lovejoy will do that) but I wasn't expecting anything other than a takeout joint. So I was pleasantly surprised when I fell up into this location and saw that it was a full service establishment with a bar. Mind you there are not a lot of beer choices on tap but they do have a bar. But more importantly they have great service. And I don't mean great service for Lovejoy area restaurants. No. No quantifiers here. They have great service. Period. I'm always greeted warmly. A drink is put in front of me in a timely fashion. Food comes out hot. And it's all done with no attitude. Atmosphere is what you'd expect in a wing spot. TVs showing sports with music playing in the background. The wings tho! I know the television show "Atlanta" has made legend of the "lemon pepper wet" wings but it's the Dirty Bird wings that'll be your favorites. read more

The food is definitely fresh(the wait time and taste seemed like the wings were fresh and not par cooked) and the all flats cost a whopping $3 extra. The ambiance is that of any typical crickets but not a city one lol so just think southside if that makes sense. Oh and extra blue cheese 88 cents. Such a specific number but none of my business. The cashier was polite but you can tell she was bored because service was slow. Hello. I don't write reviews often. However, I wanted to give J.R. Crickets Lovejoy a shout out. My husband and I ate ther for lunch today (dec 22). We were met with a very nice waitress by the name of Mahogany. she did an EXCELLENT job; form greeting us at arrive until we left. The service was impeccable. Our food was good and HOT. Nothing worst than warmed over food. THIS WAAS NOT! I am always about good service and this place gave me the service I like. We will be back. We believe in being GREAT tippers when the service is GREAT. Mahogany should be training ppl at Chick-fil A, Nordstrom, or Delta Airlines. These are business that have excellent service. Today, I finally made it to a J.R Crickets for lunch. I'd heard so much about their restaurants on the radio that my expectations were somewhat high. I didn't try any of the famous wings that I'd heard so much about. Nope, my lunch consisted of a cheesesteak sub that a woman at a counter, who was remarkably friendly, recommended to me. One downer I must mention is that the place could've been cleaner. It wasn't as unkempt as what you'd expect from a Waffle House on a bad day, but my seat and the floor needed a wiping off and sweeping, respectively. As for my meal--the lady whom I mentioned earlier brought me a box with said cheesesteak, which had a decent amount of steak and green peppers, crinkle cut fries, and get this--a pickle spear in it. And this was sort of a charmer, lol since pickles are said to be good for lightening one's mood. The cheesesteak was decent, with a salty bun. Of course French fries are considered unhealthy, but at least these tasted fine. All in all, I had a fair experience that was capped by two black males near the cash register who were taking turns giving me strange looks. Good customer service. Great flavor however the food is a hit or miss. I'm not understanding why my wings are the consistency of toothpicks. So I wanted to try a new spot & came across J.R Crickets. I was in the mood for some wings & a drink and I saw they served 5pc chicken and waffle so I was like " BET ". I saw the prices and was like " wtf , kinda pricey " . I went to go pick up my food and saw the wings were about the same size as my pinky & the waffle was so thin , the top half of the waffle would split when you pick it up with the fork. I paid a total of $18.17 for a thin waffle & tiny 5 pc wings ( no ranch was included ) and a large drink , yes I would come again cause I see they serve funnel cakes but I will also going try a different dish to see if I wanna recommend this place. Our first clue should have been that there was absolutely no one in the place on a Saturday at noon. Our second should have been the table so sticky we had to move. And when I looked around and saw how dirty the entire place was, we should have gotten up and left. But we had heard so much about how J.R. Crickets served the "best wings in Atlanta" we were gulled into staying. Besides, we were starved. The server who eventually came over brought menus and came back with drinks. "Ready to order?" she asked. Yes, we replied. "Okay, give me a minute," she said and walked away. About five minutes later she returned and took our orders for a Philly Steak and a basket of lemon pepper "wet" wings. A long time passed--we were still alone in the restaurant-- and she returned with our food, which was warm, not hot. The Philly steak had raw green peppers in it, which were not in the menu description. The meat looked like cat food and was very dry. The onions were raw. The whole (quite small) sandwich was squashed down. The wings were even worse. Firstly, they were not wet, at all. Secondly, I would bet my last dollar that they were left over from the night before and refried. Even through the very medicinal and artificial taste of whatever they put on the wings, the chicken itself was super dry, stringy, and cold inside, and it had that unmistakable mineral taste of leftover chicken. When the server returned with the blue cheese dressing she had forgotten, I took a piece of celery and dipped. The dressing was fine--hard to mess up opening a jar, I guess--but the celery itself, though crisp, has a strange off taste, as though it had been stored with rotten food. Just wanting to get out of there forever, we asked for a check. She went away and came back without our check. "Is your food okay?" she asked, looking at our mostly uneaten baskets. "Yes, it's fine, can we please have our check now?" I asked again. I didn't understand why she came back with the cc machine and held it while I put in my card and paid, but when we left I looked at the receipt and saw we had been charged a five dollar "gratuity fee," despite the menu stating that said fee only got applied to checks fifty dollars or more. I am appealing the charge with my CC company. When we got home I immediately wrote to J.R. Crickets customer support, emailing them essentially the story I just relayed here. I've never been a big fan of their wings however their buffalo shrimp was decent. I don't care for all the breading or it soaked in all that sauce. Next time i would probably order their regular fried shrimp. read more

Good wings, service is good! Crickets has gotten a little pricey over the years, so I highly recommend there lunch specials available till 4. Not really big on the inside, but its clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I've been back a few times. They take call in orders as well. Food is always hot and wings are crispy. I love Crickets but this is the worst one I've been to. Never had a bad experience with any location. First time trying this one... a Sunday night. Call in order was not ready in 15 min as promised. Waited another 15 min when got there, only 3 people were dining. Light skinned cashier did not treat me same as other customers that entered. Wings were not good... bad grease possibly, left bad aftertaste. Had a 10 piece and half went to the trash(FYI I do not like to throw away food). Other reviews are good but this franchise is not. There are several wing spots in and near the Lovejoy area. I've tried them all. I guess I'm late to the show, but i never knew that this place had such great food. I've tried their chicken, fish and ribs and so far I'm happy. The wings have just the right amount of sauce and crispness to them. Their burgers are generously big and filling. Plus there's a bar on the inside if you just need a drink. This place should be packed at all times but sadly, at least when i go, it never is. Hopefully that will change. read more

This is where I am with this place right now: Saturday I got a catfish basket with fried rice)rice came in a paper boat), a shrimp basket with fried rice(rice in a paper boat) and 2 ten piece wings for $47. I called Sunday to order again but they were out of fried rice. So i didn't get anything! Monday I ordered and got a shrimp basket with fried rice and a 10 pc wings with fried rice. This time each order of rice came in the small styrofoam container with half the amount of rice as Saturday. On top of that, for some strange reason just those two baskets added to be over $30!!! WTH!!! Gotta find a spot with consistency on food availability and definitely prices! May have to fall back on them a bit! A shrimp basket and a 10 pc wing basket should NOT be $30! It is good but their wings are saggier and their mushrooms feel boiled. That's not good for a wing spot to have saggier wings and boiled instead of fried mushrooms. I won't be going there for a while. They need to fix that. Until I see a change then they are going to get a 3 rating read more
