I had to re-pack countless boxes because they weren't taped, did not have packing material, and would not make the trip from Michigan to California. This company is not professional. I spoke to Jeremey, and I asked for a deadline to get this resolved, and then me immediately escalated the conversation by calling me a fraud (despite the photos provided) and threatened to send me to their legal department (see screenshot). We moved at the end of June 2017. We thought Carlos and his team would be great…read more.. Did they get the one truck full of some of our items from the old house to the new? Yes. Were they careful with our items? Yes. But...then, we had a few hiccups, of which the last was the one that would make me not recommend their services to others. Things that went wrong: 1.They arrived late. We did receive phone calls updating us, but still was frustrating as we expected to be done moving by the evening. 2. They showed up with 3 movers and we were apparently quoted for 2 movers. At no point was it asked if it was ok, or anything, and it wasn't mentioned until we were discussing payment, and Carlos told us that the discount from Angie's List included only 2 movers. 3. Carlos and his team didn't have the supplies to wrap furniture and didn't have enough moving blankets. In fact, as they unloaded the truck, I noticed that they used some of our throw blankets to protect the furniture without asking if that was ok. 4. Their truck wasn't big enough to fit all of our items in one trip. We were moving from a smaller house about 750 sq ft. We were asked over the phone how big our house was and approximately how many boxes we had. Carlos and his team made one trip with a full truck. Then we filled our cars and still had to go back the next day for the rest of our stuff. He offered that they would go make another trip for the rest of the items for the additional hourly charge. 5. Payment - this was the one that killed it for us. As others have mentioned, we were quoted an affordable price over the phone. We had a discount through Angie's List. The woman on the phone told us that we would be able to use that discount and quoted us accordingly. When all was said and done and it was time to pay, Carlos told us it was going to be $400 over what was quoted to us. We talked to him about it and he was not budging on what was quoted over the phone vs what he was charging us. We tried to negotiate since they were late and ran out of supplies at their previous job and since we had to load our cars with items and still go back for the rest. He would not compromise, and actually was upset that we were even questioning the issue. I have no problem paying for good service. I have no problem tipping for good service (I still tipped his team even though Carlos screwed us on pricing). I do have a problem with being quoted one amount and then being told to pay a DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT amount. He even had the audacity to ask us not to write a poor review. He clearly knows that what he is doing is wrong. Yes, he and his team work hard, but he should be upfront about the cost. It is not ok to quote one price and have such a large difference between your quote and actual cost. Customer service goes a long way, but he and his company certainly lacked in that area.

Let me say: Mike, Anthony and Mike's dad are HONEST, careful, positive and highly professional. The driver notified me of their ETA along the way, and they arrived with their big truck and equipment on time. Tirelessly, they worked the day into the evening helping to pack and move us to our new space a few miles away. The quote was less than anticipated. Our cash payment was received with a significant ($150) discount; something to be considered. Our furniture - heavy, tall, solid wood furnishings were taken from our old space, transported and delivered exactly to where we desired them in our new place without a scratch or dent to them or the areas they were moved through. What could be disassembled was disassembled, and reassembled perfectly. They took two very short breaks during this multi-hour job, and so did we! The ultimate price point again was very reasonable. They were fantastic, and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND MetroMovers of Southfield!

Destructive, Do Not Hire…read more I don't like giving bad reviews, but I had to give this one. My ex-wife hired Boxx Boys to move her personal items out of my house a week ago. During the move, the team drove their moving truck onto my lawn in the rain and damaged my lawn with their truck and furniture dolly. Worse, they brought their dolly into the house and used it on my vintage hardware floors without putting anything down to protect them first. The floor is now permanently scratched in the pattern of the dolly's wheels. I'm not sure if my ex-wife has contacted them yet to file a complaint, but I thought the Yelp community should know about my experience with this company. If this company is truly better than the team they sent, I hope they'll contact me to make amends. If they do so, I will post an update here so the community can see how this company responds to negative reviews. If they do not, then I'll post this review to other sites to ensure that people understand what they may be risking if they hire Boxx Boys.

Patriot Moving Systems caught my attention so I called them to get more information. I talked with Dennis to get answers to my questions. He told me they are full service, meaning they will pack as well as move your household contents. You also have the option to do your own packing. One place I called pretty much only loads and moves your stuff so you have to do your own packing. Patriot sells boxes and packing materials but also suggested Home Depot or Lowe's but said he actually prefers and recommends getting these from U-Haul as he thinks theirs are better quality and sturdier. What I like is the way Dennis explained our options without overly promoting materials through Patriot. He also explained the rates for their services. Basically it is an hourly rate per person plus a trip charge and cost of the truck usage. He came out and walked through or house and then was able to give us a rough estimate of the number of hours we would likely need. We planned to use a staging company so we needed to pack some things to thin out certain areas like closets and kitchen countertops. So we arranged for Patriot to send out three people to box and move things into the garage for three hours and that was a big help. They were focused and hard working guys who went practically non-stop for the time scheduled. Whenever there was a question about packing certain items they asked about it. I could tell that they all knew what they were doing, their experience showed and they treated our things as if they were theirs. Delicate items were wrapped well for protection. Our move is currently on hold as we continue to pursue selling our home but Dennis checks in with me periodically to see how things are going. I will update this review once we actually complete our move but we know who we trust with packing and moving our property.
