I found this salon through yelp and I'm glad I went. I made an appointment and it was followed through. I had a gel mani and spa pedicure. They practiced sanitary care as well as natural nail care. Don't waste your time and don't waste your money. I found this place leaving work and they were very nice in the beginning and we agreed on a price and then I changed my mind and said that I wanted a lower service and they were pressuring me to spend more money For a service that I did not want or need eventually I said just take the nail polish off and I will get a clear coat and they told me I can't do that. I had to have a manicure and so then I said just take it off and I'll leave and then they started saying that the price was changing. Found J Nail spa on Yelp while looking for a decent nail spot in the Bronx. I noticed they were 'Hot & New' so I decided to give them a try. Called to schedule an appointment. Upon arriving, I waited about 20 mins before being seen. Wanda was the sweet woman who did my pedicure and she did an great job...I am pretty particular with who does my feet, but I did not have to say much to Wanda, she just knew what to do. I was very happy about that. However, when it came to my acrylic full set... I was a little disappointed. Wanda started my set... Brian (the owner) finished it off because she had to do a pedicure (apparently there are only two people on site who does them). I got the most basic set ever and I left feeling slightly unsatisfied especially for the price I paid. ($40 for a full set, gel polish, almond shaped, short short length.) I noticed they (the owners) used more quality products for certain costumers. I didn't appreciate seeing and it just proved what I was already thinking which is..... they need to improve on their costumer service. Also, the establishment needs to be cleaned and sanitized!!!! I was very uncomfortable while getting my pedicure. The tools did not look like they were disinfected and the entire station was dusty and disorganized. I was desperate so I stayed despite noticing most of these things upon entering. Don't get me wrong, they did a decent job. But overall.... there are a lot of flaws. So, I found this place on Yelp! Lol funny right? I was looking for a good nail salon to get my nails done because my birthday is coming up. I HAD to pick a good nail salon because I am very picky with my nails. I am now a customer for LIFE!! There was no line, which is always a good thing lol. I had three different designs in mind and showed Brian, the owner, and he told me me which one he was able to do. He then proceeded with his hospitality and asked me how much was I looking to spend and gave me a reasonable price for my nails & my feet. Usually when i go into salons I'm not given a price on the spot. Now this place is CASH only but there is a Chase around the corner (there is ALWAYS a line) so make sure to make the stop before. I dont understand how this place has 4 stars. I found them on instagram, their designs looked so good. I DM'd the page and made the appointment. I got there and immediately regretted it. This place is dirty. Dirty, murky water fish tanks all around. Nail stations are dirty and unkept as well. They have plexi glass dividers for covid, sure. The chairs for the salon are so run down. When I sat down, the station was a mess. The towel that was on the desk was so filled with acrylic, I was annoyed. 3 layers of towels that are filthy. Why wouldnt you clean that for each client? Ive never sat down and had my hands around so much acrylic dust. Use paper towels if thats an issue and discard them after every client. Filthy. He pulled out the cuticle cutter and I declined because they didnt come out of a sanitizer box. I wasnt chancing it. The only reason why I had even stayed in this salon, was because I had already soaked off my nails and needed them done that day. While I was there, another client was trying to keep cool with the "nail tech" who kept trying to tell her what she wanted vs just doing what was asked of her. I could tell she was trying her best to be polite and not be that ABG in the salon. When I sat down, the "nail" tech said he wasnt used to doing long natural nails. That was a red flag. I watched this man clean his acrylic brush off with another dirty brush, on the dirty table. Nothing made sense. This is a shop that does phenomenal design work, however, the nail application technique isnt there. From a distance my nails are gorgeous but when you look at them, the work isnt good at all. My nails were already shaped but because he didnt know HOW to work with them, he made them another shape entirely. I didnt allow him to file my nails any further to avoid damage. Dude left me with acrylic dust all over my nails at the end but put some oil on the cuticles, what sense does that make? Skip this nail salon and find some place thats clean. If they cared about their customers, this shop would not look like this. At all. This is another shop in the hood, trying to make money. Hopefully, they clean this place up. read more

Horrible. place customer service was horrible. The place was empty and is like nobody wants to work. Talking about customer in front of the customer very unprofessional. Workers need real training for nails also they need a course on how to deal with customers properly. These so called nails tech pick who they want to give service to. Very DISCRIMINATORY to say the least. It was ridiculous actually glad i left found another place. Awesome work great customer service. Did my nails March 10th & today's May 13th. Cause of the virus I haven't been able to go out & get them done but these have been holding on STRONG! Color hasn't chipped, nails haven't lifted and I've been doing everything from house chores to gardening. Definitely a place to go. read more

Worst nail salon made an appointment and booked through Instagram and paid a 35 dollar deposit. As I was on my way to my apt I got pulled over and Was running late. I called the owner Brian to let him know and he told me to bring my ticket in to prove that I got pulled over so that I can keep my deposit for rescheduling. I immediately was offended, I told him your not anyone important to me in my life to lie about something like that! And told him I'm not bringing in my ticket. He then rescheduled me for the next day for 1pm and told me to hush. I was running 10 minutes late for the nail apt and I called just to let him know and keep him updated. He started complaining saying I'm running late. I felt bad, and apologized as soon as I came in he was still finishing up another clients nails. I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that he yelled at me for running 10 min late as he was still finishing up a full set. I was already over him! As I was sitting down and getting my nails done 3 older women were there complaining about the service, how he's overpriced, and mistreats black people. An older lady was almost going to make a police report for racial discrimination on him being that she was waiting to get her pedicure for 20 minutes and then he pushed it back to 1 hour to put another women in front of her. On top of that, he was getting an attitude with me because he was leaving blotches on my nails and I had to tell him to fix it. Worst experience! The owner has a horrible attitude and had the nerve to block me on Instagram right after the appointment. The environment- very dirty salon, flies all over the place, not a pleasant atmosphere to do your nails. read more

This is literally the worst salon I've ever went to. The boss "Brian" is so damn rude. Won't let you finish a sentence he'll just be like "yea yea ok" and just doesn't listen. Love this nail salon! Mary Jane has the best technique and can do any design you desire. I just moved to this area and I'm am so thankful I found this salon. they're a good service but the boss is kind of annoying and thinks he's cool because of the way he speaks to people. he has to learn how to control his mouth and when to be professional. besides that the other workers are pretty sweet. i don't recommend booking through instagram. just go there and ask for whatever you're looking for or call! not aesthetically pleasing but they have great designs & not too pricey. nails stay on for long. read more
