UPDATE MARCH 2017 Since their move south a couple blocks to…read morethe spot across the street from the newish Mickey Finn's, Serendipity seems to have really upped their game. They are a favorite place to stop on First Fridays, when I can hardly get in the door! And the stream of new and fun fashions and accessories is non-stop. Service is friendly and personal, too. Still one of my favorite stops. This is like shopping in a dear friend's great closet. Although the store is tiny, the variety always surprises me, and the service can't be beat. I find interesting items I find nowhere else, and while their prices are consistent with other stores, their sale items make them more affordable. There is even a comfortable place to sit! I have purchased tops, purses, outerwear, scarves, jewelry, and other items. Easy to miss since it is north of Casa Bonita and before the train tracks, up a couple of stairs. But with such a uniquely-vintage location and terrific items and service, it is worth the extra steps. Easy parking right in front, or in the copious parking lots around the corner on Lake Street. No I do not work for them - I am just a huge fan and want to be sure they stay in town!

I emailed again and didn't hear anything for two days. I got nervous when I did a Google Street View search and did not see an actual building. At this point, I got nervous. I sent a message through Facebook to the shop and contacted PayPal to dispute the charge fearing it might not be a legitimate business. It was then I heard from the seller who said they would look for the item. I was also told they had many other items. I looked online but only saw a couple. They said they would send a video the next day of what they had. I was told this twice but never received it. Finally, I requested that they issue a refund. Instead of canceling the payment on PayPal or working through the dispute center they issued a separate credit for $5.60 less that the amount I was charged. I was told something about PayPal only paying them a certain amount and they didn't know what I was charged. This made no sense as I had an invoice from them showing shipping and the item's pice. I was told they'd issue $2.00 for the difference . At this point out of sheer frustration I simply chose to deal with PayPal. Today, June 15, PayPal finally gave me the $5.60 difference. I'm sure shopping in the shop is a sweet experience but this has put a bitter taste in my mouth for shopping online Boutiques. Unfortunately, the lack of response to emails, delays in looking for the item, promises to send video of other items, and excuses about the refund was unacceptable.

So happy to find this store. I procrastinated buying a leotard for my daughter. Of course, her…read moreschool has a very specific dress code. They fitted shoes for my 3 yo and we ended up purchasing the entire outfit that she needed for her first class. As it turned out, one of her grandmothers purchased her outfit for her as a gift and when I went to return the unopened items we didn't need, I was told they didn't do refunds, only store credit. Here is my issue: my kid is 3. We are also not rich. I have no idea whether or not she will want to keep dancing after a year of it (or whether we will want her to). A store credit would be fine for committed dancers who go there on a regular basis. However, the $40 credit we now have is at a store we will likely not patronize again (especially now that I can get the same items for half as much at Discount Dance Supply) and could have been better used to help pay for a household bill. And unless I come in and use my credit, they will get twice as much for the things I returned (since I've already paid for them once). Shady. This is a disappointingly bad policy. Maybe come here for shoe fittings but honestly, I would recommend going to discountdance.com for what you need, especially for beginners. The prices and selection are much better and returns are allowed.
