Walked in there looking for women's steel toe boots for work (I'm a carpenter). They looked at me like I had 3 heads. Asked for my size in Men's boots (7, preferably EE) and they had literally nothing. Not a single pair of boots in ANY brand that were 7s and had any type of safety toe. They weren't super rude about it or anything, they just acted like this hadn't ever been a question they'd encountered. Zero stars. I will never shop there again. The owner has absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. I've shopped there over the years for socks, boots, etc and never dealt with her until today. I was in the process of buying several hundred dollars worth of work clothes with the intention of buying more in the future and ended up returning it all because of her terrible attitude towards me. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. If you do buy something from the store make sure you read their return policy. 15 day return/refund ONLY if the tags are still on the clothing. Doesn't matter if you have the tags , they have to still be attached to the clothes. She wouldn't accept a shirt for exchange (different size) even though I had purchased it last night , just because the tags weren't attached. She lost a couple hundred dollars in sales today, and will not get any business from me in the future. read more

I was an occasional customer of this store, and didn't think much of it or their products. However, after my experience with the manager last night, I'm NEVER stepping foot in this store ever again! I've been unemployed for almost a year now as I've been struggling to find a new job since I got fired from my old one. I was going to apply here because I thought it was okay place to shop at and figured "What the hell. I'll try it." When I asked for an application, the employees tell me that I'm forced to fill it out there, and when I asked why they insist that, they give the standard song and dance about how "Its just our policy" (which is vague response more than an actual answer). I can tell they (especially this one employee I was talking with) are conformist sheep, because if they actually thought about how that policy makes no sense (which I'll explain in the next sentence), instead of just doing as they're told, they wouldn't work there because they'd see just how stupid it really is. So when I politely asked the male manager about the reason for that policy, he told me "We have to make sure you're the one filling it out." Obviously if I ask for an application, I'm going to fill it out myself anyway, and if I do decide to pick up one for someone else, that's my choice, especially since it'd be helping the business out if both of us get hired there (but that thought doesn't exist in his mind). When I politely clarified my question by asking "As long as I bring the application back, why does matter where I fill it out?", he decided to give me an attitude by saying "I'm not going hire you now, because you're asking for special privileges! As far as you're concerned, this conversation's over with now!" I shook my head, muttered "What an asshole!" under my breath, and immediately walked out of there. I was NOT asking for "special privileges", nor was I implying that! He just took it that way and put words in my mouth! Granted it was almost closing time, he was a little busy (because he came out of the back room with boxes in his hands and had to set them down in order to talk to me), and he was at least 50-something years old (so he was probably cranky because he had a long day). HOWEVER, that still doesn't give him the right to rudely give me an attitude just because I asked him a question! Now that I know what kind of person he is, I'm not shopping there ever again, because it'd be less money for him then. Thankfully, after reading other negative comments about this place, I'm glad I'm not the only person who's had problems with the staff who work there. Because other people (who haven't shopped there) are now reading these comments, it's hopefully making them not want to shop there in the future, because NO ONE wants to deal with shitty customer service or rude staff. If they do end up choosing not to shop there, its adding more insult to injury to the store, and really says a lot about the staff there. I imagine the managers either don't read these comments (because they don't give a shit if people think badly of them), or do read them but always point the finger at the other person. If they did care about what people think of them and their store, they would do whatever they can to improve both, but as long as they're getting paid, they won't give a shit. I'm hoping that as more people continue to turn away from this store, it will inevitably make either most of the employees quit and make the store more difficult to maintain (and I'm sure they have on top of the issues they most-likely have with the managers), make the managers want to retire and hire new and better ones to replace them, or force the store into bankruptcy. Absolute joke of management. Spent 200$ on Thorogood boots, came back the next day to get a wider size after wearing them inside to see how they felt. All employees said no problem go in back and get your right size and when I came to exchange them at the counter the manager/owner wouldn't take them because they were too worn, how much could a boot be worn while wearing them inside a house for under an hour? Other customers in the store also said they looked brand new off the shelf which they did. I don't spend my time to go online and write reviews about anything but save yourself the trouble and don't waste a second of your time or a penny of your money on this joke of a "workers outlet". He brought me work boots, multiple sizes in multiple brands, answered questions and was pleasant the entire time I was in the store. I wish I could give this place no stars! Every time we go there the manager (female and I think a manager) is always giving us the evil eye. My husband spends a lot of $$ every year there but we will never go back after the last time. The manager kept following my husband around and then accused him of stealing a face mask. Then she started berating an employee for not keeping an eye on my husband. She walked back and said she was going to look at the security camera. Racist! I will not give my money to a business that perceives me to be a credit card thief or assumes my socio-economic status based on the color of my skin. Every single white customer that was in line before us paid with a card and not one was asked for ID. Yet, when we get to the counter my fiancé is asked for ID even before he finishes pulling the card from his wallet. The cashier hadn't even touched the card yet, so it couldn't have been based on the type of card, the name on the card or the many other reasons that a cashier may ask one customer for an ID and not another. I welcome the extra security measure of requesting ID, realizing that it protects us as consumers, so my frustration isn't about the request. It is the REASON that the request was made. If everyone had been asked to show ID, it wouldn't have been a problem. We were as well-dressed and courteous to the sales clerks as anyone in that store. Not that our appearance should matter, but I am not lost on the fact that assumptions are often made based on how we present ourselves. So, I'd get it if we walked in looking/acting suspicious, black, white or blue. But that wasn't the case. The ONLY difference was that we were the only black customers there and out of the 4 customers that had just paid, we were the only ones asked to show an ID. My fiancé and I are both pretty passive, non-confrontational people, so we said nothing, but this is one time that I wish I had spoken up. Better yet, I wish I could have thrown my bank statement on that counter and shown that little girl that our ability to pay for anything that we desire isn't limited to the meager $200 that we spent in their store. Needless to say, we will be returning the merchandise for a refund. When you experience something like this, you are so taken aback that it takes a moment to process how you should react You even begin to look for ways to explain it away and make excuses for people, but in this case, there was no excuse. I suggest that this company have their employees look up the definition of micro-aggression and learn how to avoid it. read more
