He took the time to explain everything and show me images so I would understand what was going on with my leg. He sent me for an MRV at Crown Valley Imaging in Newport Beach. I returned to him and discussed the plan. I never felt rushed or dismissed. His office staff are equally amazing. I wish their office was closer to my home but... UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! I…read morehave been to Pedes OC twice trying to see Joe Hewitt. The first time I had to wait for him for 40+ min and I got fed up so they brought in Dr. Goldstein. Then they did an ultrasound and I did a MRI and when I came in, so they could give me the results, I had to wait for Joe Hewitt almost an hour and they couldn't have cared less. I really get irritated when people think that their time is more important than mine or medical offices that just EXPECT patients to wait an hour to see a doctor because the office and the doctor don't have evolved time-management skills. This is very backward and adds unnecessary stress to my day on a Friday when I have so many appointments scheduled. Pedes OC does not respect my time. I work Monday-Thursday and I can schedule all my appointments on a Friday. When I came in here today, I was out at 6:30am and didn't even have breakfast. I was running around non stop and was very upset and hungry by the time I got here at 1pm. A simple consultation should not take 50 min just to talk to the patient. I have important things that I want to do on my day off and it's INFURIATING when a doctor thinks that I have nothing to do and nowhere to be on a Friday. After waiting ONE HOUR for Joe Hewitt, I'm told he won't see me and that I need to come back to see Dr. Goldstein. They made me wait ONE HOUR just to tell me this. Joe didn't even have the common courtesy, consideration nor professionalism to come and say this to me himself. Joe needs to go back to school and learn better time management skills and common courtesy. It's a real shame that after a MD from UCSF and a MBA from USC, that Joe Hewitt STILL doesn't know how to manage his time with patients so that I won't be sitting in the patient room for an hour. The following Monday, I was scheduled to see Dr. Goldstein via telehealth between 4-5pm. I got a voicemail saying he's in a procedure and they'll call me after 5pm when I'm at the gym. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST PATHETIC AND INCOMPETENT MEDICAL BUSINESS I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING!

On October 2, I had a scheduled appointment at 10:00 a.m. to review my previous test results, but before 9:00 a.m., I became seriously ill and had to call 911 and go to the hospital by ambulance. While in the ambulance, I tried to cancel my appointment out of courtesy but accidentally called the doctor's personal cell phone instead of the office. The office later questioned why I had called her personal number rather than showing any concern about my medical emergency. Since my appointment was only to review previous test results, the doctor could have easily called me to check on my condition and discuss the results. However, no one followed up or offered to reschedule. After a week, I contacted the office myself and was met with a dismissive attitude, although someone eventually listened to my concerns. I expected more compassion, professionalism, and follow-up from a cardiologist. This experience left me deeply disappointed and without confidence in continuing my care at this office.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the outset. I was repeatedly told by the staff to call back because they had not yet spoken with the doctor. During this time, I reviewed their New Patient Form and was surprised to find it was a mix of scanned pages and typed text--requiring patients to print, complete by hand, and then return via scan or in person. This felt outdated in an era where fillable PDF forms are the norm. Out of curiosity and as a personal learning exercise, I created an electronic fillable version of their form. Since I had already put the work in, I offered it to the office in case it might be useful for them and for future patients. My offer was not acknowledged, and shortly thereafter I received a call stating that they could not treat my condition because they did not have the appropriate equipment. While I understand that not every specialist has the facilities to treat all patients, I find it discouraging that the process of even getting an appointment was handled so dismissively. The lack of interest in improving outdated processes, combined with the sudden rejection of my case, left me with the impression that patient access and experience are not priorities for this practice. In today's medical environment, efficiency, compassion, and inclusivity matter as much as technical expertise. Unfortunately, my interaction with this office did not reflect those values.

This is a tough review for me to write bc I both respect Dr. Nishanian and credit him for making a…read morevery difficult call with my father's foot and leg at the hospital. He's clearly experienced, not just in his expertise but with the benefit of age and history within this speciality. He was the intervening vascular surgeon in a complex case that would've either killed my father or left him in shambles. He was candid with me, astute in his observation of what we should expect, compassionate in all the right ways about a 73yo man whose care had undoubtedly been mishandled by other doctors who should've caught things earlier, and he helped me make the right call. My disappointment is in his refusal to follow-up with my father afterwards. The reasoning I got was that he didn't take such a complex case. But the irony is that not only was he the doctor I kept trying to make an appt with before my father's foot infection complicated his PAD but couldn't bc the online portal repeatedly failed to secure the appts or link to the office; but also that while he called out other doctors for not giving my dad the attention he needed, the good doc absolved himself of it too. When the office reads this, I want them to know that even the initial vascular surgeon (Dr. Nabi) refused to see my dad citing excuses with insurance. So the two vascular surgeons who saw my father and oversaw his care w an entire team don't want this mess of a man on their hands. And I ask where's the compassion and conscience in all this? Unless he's actively dying or has the right insurance it seems, he doesn't matter. What's the point when the doctors themselves abandon a man bc he's too broken to fix? It speaks to a disgraceful healthcare system that may train the best but leave so much to be desired, particularly with the aging population. I naturally won't seek care here or there, and we'll have to find someone else who's willing to give my old man a chance, but the doctors and the system have failed us. And I have lost my father bc of this very attitude throughout my his care. An unconscionable unwillingness. Still, I thank Dr. Nishanian for what he did. And I guess my advice for others is to get yourselves and your folks in before they're too broken. Bc no one cares.

We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated team at [Pedes Orange County] and to Dr. Hewett and Dr…read more Goldstein for their ongoing care for my father. He has faced multiple vascular surgeries this year, and his recent ultrasound showed concerning findings. We were hopeful for one more procedure before year's end to help prevent further complications. Unfortunately, we've been unable to reach the team despite our best efforts, and my father's foot condition continues to worsen. This is an urgent situation for him and our family, and we're seeking immediate guidance and a clear plan of care. If anyone has recommendations for: how best to reach the care team (phone, after-hours lines, or patient portal), alternative contact points within the same medical group or hospital, or guidance on next steps for urgent vascular/foot care, we would be profoundly grateful.
