Eye Candy is a great store. First of all, the owners Mark and Dave are super nice. Recently I had a prescription given to me by another doctor and filled at Eye Candy. It was terrible, but it was the doctor's fault. I went to Dr. Kim at Eye Candy and had the best eye exam of my life. She noticed cataracts developing which the other doctor didn't even mention! She is professional, intelligent, observant, personable, and got my prescription right on the dot. Eye Candy replaced the badly prescribed lenses for me gratis. Amazing service. I've been a repeat customer for years and will continue to be so. Other retailers could learn a thing or two from Eye Candy. Moreover, I have switched optometrists and am having my family do so as well.

This is a great place to get glasses, both because of the beautiful and varied selections of frames…read moreto the excellent customer service. I went in again recently and not only did Dave quickly resolve my eye glass problem, his quality of service restored something in me about simple human connections. He was kind, generous and genuinely just wanted to help me out. It felt like one of those old world experiences of going to a mom and pop shop where the human interaction was as important as the sale. I highly recommend Eye Candy Opticians!

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Upper Montclair Eye Wear and Care…read more I recently spent over $400 on sports goggles, and at no point during the purchase was it explained to me that, once the lenses arrived, only ONE employee was actually able to complete the job. Given that these are sports goggles and we are in the middle of sports season, this information would have been important to know upfront. On Tuesday, I called after being told that the lenses had arrived. I was told someone would call me the next day when the goggles were ready. Wednesday came and went with no call. By Friday, still no call, so I called because I actually need the goggles for the season. Unfortunately, the customer service during that call was incredibly rude and unhelpful. The employee put me on hold for more than five minutes, then came back and asked, essentially, "Are you sure you're calling the right place?" Yes--I was. She then hung up on me. When I called back, I was sent to voicemail. I called again about 10 minutes later, and eventually spoke with the same employee I had spoken with on Tuesday. I was then told that the manager wanted them to explain that there is only one person who can complete the job and that person is only there once a week, so "we'll see what we can do." That is not an acceptable way to handle a customer who has already spent more than $400 with your business and a returning customer. If there are staffing limitations or only one person qualified to complete the work, that should have been clearly communicated when the order was placed--or at the very least when the lenses arrived. I really wanted to support a local business, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Delays happen, but the lack of communication, poor customer service, and dismissive attitude toward my concerns were unacceptable. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and that's a shame because I would have preferred to continue supporting a local business.

I have been a patient of the Eye Care Center for a few years now and always have been very pleased…read morewith the service. In October, I had cataract surgery. After speaking extensively with Dr. Ditkoff, his recommendation "if you don't do the multifocal lens or crystal lens, you won't be able to see the dashboard of your car" despite knowing that I had had Lasik surgery about 15 years ago. This lens was $3000 per eye. Based on his recommendation I chose to do it. The lens did not work. I was made aware by another another facility that because of the Lasik surgery it is higher risk and And may not work. If I was told this from the beginning I might not have chosen to go with this lens. it would've been my decision. I feel that I was totally misinformed. And now I'm out $3000. Buyer beware. If you've had Lasik surgery know that a multifocal lens may not be the way you want to go. At a follow up visit he had complimented a pair of sneakers I was wearing and said "I like your sneakers too bad you can't see them" I did not find this funny. Needless to say I just had my second eye done with just a regular lens with Dr Boywala everything is wonderful.

First let me say, please believe everything you read about the wait times. You sit in the lobby…read morefor what seems like forever, just to be taken into a room, have something done, and then moved to another waiting room in the back until the next person takes you. But let's talk about Janice who works the front office. She is hands down the absolute worst at customer service. I made an appt for my kid and. I stated my name when I called and gave her my child's info. She asked for group number and I gave it. All is well, or so I thought. She calls me the next day with an attitude before noon saying my child is not coming up in the system. I said well I gave the group number, let me give you the member id and see if that works. I give her the first letter and she says, "no that's what you gave me yesterday and I don't do this, someone else does this, but I'll see if it works." well first the letter of the id and plan are the same. Had she let me finish, she would have found out. Then she just nastier and nastier. Whose plan is this and addressing me by my wife's name, that I never mentioned. Well who is she, it says spouse, what's her relation, you told me that was your name, etc... Her tone, her rudeness, everything just rubbed me the wrong way to the point I immediately found another provider and canceled my appointment. The drs here are good, but not worth the horrible customer service.
