At prime times of day, the line of cars can get long. But it moves. They set aside items that still have value, and you can pick them up for a buck or two donation. I got a nice beach umbrella , and I've picked through the book bin and gotten some good, new books ! But I do that only when it's not busy there.

The Township recycles over 38 items including; recyclables such as fluorescent bulbs, Styrofoam,…read morerigid plastics, and batteries. There is no charge for recycling at the Chestnuthill Township Recycling Center/Transfer Station and all residents are encouraged to save money by participating in the pay-as-you-throw program. This simply means that at the recycling center/transfer station you only pay for the items which you cannot recycle (at the current rate of $2 per 30 gallon bag). Additionally, the Township offers yard waste shredding and composting services for the residents, who are welcome to use the compost for their yard and garden projects. The Chestnuthill Township Recycling Center/Compost Facility is located at 3223 Hillcrest Drive, Effort, PA. For up to date recycling information call the facility at 570-992-4654.

I've been told by the workers there that I am nowhere near the first person to be screwed by this. Never open when I stop by. Could be a bright, sunny day and they'll be closed due to 'weather'…read more Could arrive at 3:10pm when they close at 4pm and the gates will be shut. I'm pretty sure the staff is underpaid and/or volunteer since they are hardly ever open. A worker could wake up with a pimple on his ass and they'll be closed. When they are open, they treat you with disdain and suspicion, questioning every single item you drop off, desperately trying to find a reason not to accept your recyclables. You're better off putting metal items in front of your house with a 'free' sign to get rid of it. They don't accept any Styrofoam packing material any more. They use to accept foam that 'snapped' vs foam that bends. It was hilarious watching them manipulate foam items trying to make it bend so they could reject it. Now, they don't accept any Styrofoam material. I'm sure the gas I wasted driving there multiple times only to find the gates closed negates any benefit of recycling. Website said they were open but they were closed. From now on, I'll just use a Sawzall to cut stuff up and bag it so it ends up in the landfill.

This A-Hole cost me an extra day for a truck rental ($75) and cost me $40 dollars in mileage ($1 per mile on rental), plus gas. Panther Waste is not a landfill or a dump and they shouldn't advertise as such. If you're looking to throw away anything more than what can fit in your trunk, go somewhere else.
