Theis/Cornfeld Recycling Center

************************************** This Yelp site does…read morenot have the operating hours for the Theis Cornfeld site up to date. The recycle center does NOT open at 9am, it opens at 10am. I've been told by the workers there that I am nowhere near the first person to be screwed by this. Totally screwed my schedule for today! ************************************** Other than that, which is not the recycling center's problem, the Theis Cornfeld Recycling center is extremely well operated and easy to recycle almost all of your recycle products.

I'm pretty sure the staff is underpaid and/or volunteer since they are hardly ever open. A worker could wake up with a pimple on his ass and they'll be closed. When they are open, they treat you with disdain and suspicion, questioning every single item you drop off, desperately trying to find a reason not to accept your recyclables. You're better off putting metal items in front of your house with a 'free' sign to get rid of it. They don't accept any Styrofoam packing material any more. They use to accept foam that 'snapped' vs foam that bends. It was hilarious watching them manipulate foam items trying to make it bend so they could reject it. Now, they don't accept any Styrofoam material. I'm sure the gas I wasted driving there multiple times only to find the gates closed negates any benefit of recycling. Website said they were open but they were closed. From now on, I'll just use a Sawzall to cut stuff up and bag it so it ends up in the landfill.
