I went for their store closing. Why is a glass bowl with fake flowers from Michael's and resin $450. This is their everything must go sale.

They have nice things in the store, but they only care about the "sale" We had Eric and were very displeased. We just moved here from Indiana and had to furnish an entire home from at least 20 different vendors. All were great except J Douglas. We even got great service from Unlimited Furniture on line that sells a lot of the same stuff. We also used Natuzzi, Living Modern, Cantoni, Bob Williams Mitchell Gold and Arhaus and had great service from all those stores. Not J Douglas!!!! read more

This store is a one-stop-shop for everyone on your gift giving list. That is, if your list reads as below: 1. The Donald 2. Liberace 3. Elizabeth Taylor c. 1966 4. Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast After lunch across the street, me and my lunch date (another shopper extraordinaire) spied J. Douglas Design and both wondered aloud, "Have we ever been in there?" After a moment of thought, we agreed that we had not, and wandered in for a little browsing. This place is full of pricey furniture and home accessories that range from beautiful to over-the-top. Think chrome, feathers and harlequin prints set off by hardwoods, silk damask and wrought iron. Staff was friendly, and we really had a blast poking around and asking periodically, "Who can afford this stuff?" "What room is this thing for?" and "Seriously, won't the crystals and sequins on that neckroll cause chafing?" read more

Douglas is an AMAZING designer - and has (truly) the most exclusive selection of furnishings in Dallas and has, well - for as long as I've lived in Dallas. My mother-in-law was widowed recently and needed to redesign some areas of her home after battling a long illness with my father-in law. We had driven by and seen J Douglas Design, and seen his ads. We called him and explained what had happened. Douglas went to her home, personally and helped her with new selections and helped her sell the items that she needed to exchange - so that she could have a fresh, clean start and a new design to move forward with after 50 years of marriage. All I can say is WOW is this place amazing! It is such a rareity these days to find anyone that is knowlegeable ,caring that you can really trust! Over the top recommendations,fabulous design and wonderful service with prices that were very fair.I actually believe I saved so much money as I needed fewer items than I first thought..Douglas is a complete expert and has an eye that is unequaled. ANYTHING you need, he can create ,or wave a magic wand and he comes up with the best ideas! I was treated honestly and fairly and I loved the no pressure, easy going way that every item was presented.SERVICE that I thought no longer existed in this world....all in all a wonderful expierence and I highly recommend this business...Thank you DOUGLAS!! Absolutely terrible customer service! My wife and I were in Dallas over the holiday and we found a bombe chest that we wanted to purchase at J Douglas. The salesman Tim offered us a 20% discount since we were going to ship the item to Ohio. I had set up a pick up and delivery through FEDEX as my complany does quite a bit of business with them and they were willing to ship it to Ohio for a very reasonable price. The day I was to have the item crated for an additional $325 for the shipping, the owner Douglas emailed me! not even a phone call...and he said I have another client who is local and is willing to purchase the chest for FULL price so I am sorry but I have chosen to sell it as it is a simple local delivery as well! What a gutless way of communicating to a customer/client that had purchase multiple items from him in the past. BEWARE STAY CLEAR NO INTEGRITY HERE~ read more

I shopped at J.Douglas furniture several years ago. To this day, I still consider this the biggest ripoff of my entire life. We built an expensive home and wanted to furnish it. Did not have any issues with the contractors. Then came this experience. I purchased a sofa from J. Douglas for about 20% off list. I knew it was on the high side, but understood and knew I was paying an extra 30% compared to other stores. But then I agreed to buy a rug at 20% over store cost. I paid more than $7000. Later learned that the store bought the rug down the street from a rug dealer for approximately $3000. I spent about $200,000 furnishing our home and it would have all been with J. Douglas if I had not been made a fool by the owner. To this day, when I think about this place I can feel my blood start to boil. I am now 60 years old and have never been taken advantage of like i was at this store. Never returned and still pissed.. read more
