Jonathan's business name should be "Señor Not-My-Problem Granite" Read the REAL 1-Star reviews…read morereviews before hiring this crook. He has clearly no pride in his work and will for sure destroy your kitchen and demand payment. I hired "Señor Shortcut Granite" for a major kitchen remodel that included over $25,000 in custom countertops. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations. Jonathan also brought in an unlicensed electrician to install the $10,000 under-cabinet lighting, and it was immediately clear his electrician did not know how to perform the work properly. When I asked about licensing, I was told everything was legitimate, but that turned out not to be the case. The undermount lighting failed within six months, and despite multiple calls and attempts to get the issue resolved, I have been ignored for nearly two years. I later discovered there are documented issues involving his license and insurance, which explains a lot about the lack of accountability. This was an expensive project, and the workmanship and customer service were extremely disappointing. I highly recommend doing thorough research and verifying all licensing and insurance before hiring this company. My experience was costly, stressful, and unresolved to this day. Hey Jonathan, here are some great names that would be more accurate: * "Señor Disappearing-Act Granite" * "Señor Not-My-Problem Granite" * "Señor Ghosted-After-Payment Granite" * "Señor Shortcut Granite"

When I decided to remodel this year, I contacted the same company. My friend had done a lot of research and selected Doug Burns & Assoc. Over the years, she has referred many friends to them and everyone was happy. So honestly, I didn't look any further and hired Doug to do my kitchen. I considered re-facing, but honestly wanted a fresh start and gutted the entire kitchen. From demolition to completion they were very professional. They let me know what the schedule was and who was going to be in my home, and when I needed to be there and when I didn't. The lock box gave me flexibility to come and go and not be tethered to the house. Doug did the kitchen design and really knew how to work with my small kitchen to give me the maximum usage of the space. Doug's son, Adam, did most of the work and I found him pleasant and easy to have around. All of the other trades people they hired were excellent and very professional. I was especially thrilled with the help of Alexis in the decorating and style decision process. She met me multiple times at various locations in San Diego to choose the stone, tile, appliances and knobs. Her expertise was invaluable. I would hire Doug Burns & Assoc. again and I highly recommend them.

I hired them to install a waterfall-style counter back in June 2021. Barely a year later, the waterfall cracked for no clear reason. They came out again in July 2022 to repair it, but the job was subpar. I noticed that between the waterfall backing and the side of the cabinet. It wasn't flush at all. Which I'm assuming that it allowed the water fall to slide inward more than 90 degrees, thus putting strain at the joint. But I am not a professional installer. It took them until August 22, 2022, to actually address this crack and I was assured the issue wouldn't happen again, however nothing was done to fill the gap with sub board to prevent inward movement of the granite. Unfortunately, it did again crack. A third crack appeared on April 22, 2023. I reached out multiple times via email and phone, only to be completely ignored. No callbacks, no emails, nothing from their receptionist or customer service team. Then, in May 2025 -- the worst-case scenario happened -- the waterfall slab literally fell off the counter. It nearly injured my child, grazing his arm as it collapsed. This wasn't just poor workmanship; it was dangerous. I've given them multiple chances over the years to make this right, but the lack of accountability and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable. I would never recommend this company to anyone if this is still their current practice and to avoid at all costs.

That is why I am so happy and grateful that I chose MEE Builders. I did my homework and met with five general contractors. Each had their selling points, but I kept coming back to Ron Gauzner and MEE Builders and found myself comparing the other candidates to them--and there really was no contest. From my initial meeting with Ron, he truly listened to my needs, my budget, and my concerns. He offered helpful suggestions, walked me through what the process would look like, and set reasonable and realistic expectations for bringing my vision to life. Ron followed up on our initial meeting with a meticulously detailed proposal and project plan. It clearly outlined roles, timeframes, responsibilities, costs, materials, and the payment schedule. Having such a thorough plan in place gave me tremendous peace of mind and confidence that the project would be well managed. And it was. The project was organized, efficient, and remarkably smooth. Communication is critical during a renovation, and MEE Builders did not disappoint. Ron texted, called, and stopped by throughout the week and was very hands-on. Any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly, often the same day and always within 24 hours. Ron's employees and subcontractors were professional, courteous, and skilled--people I felt completely comfortable having in my home. An added bonus: the project was completed earlier than planned, which is almost unheard of! I am thrilled with the results of my renovation. I have no regrets and truly feel that I received excellent value for my investment. Most importantly, the finished project reflects the vision I had from the beginning. I would wholeheartedly recommend MEE Builders to anyone considering a renovation. They proved to be a trustworthy, professional, and highly reliable partner from beginning to end.
