Took my daughter's car there to get a second opinion for road noise. She was quoted $1200 from NTB for one of the rear brakes! JD checked the car out, and nothing was wrong with the car. We brought our car hear to get the engine replaced. We were working with our warranty company to get our car repaired. Juan told us they were going to be open on Friday to have our car towed to his shop. We get it towed and JD Auto was not open. They were closed the whole day. No phone, nothing. Infact, they were closed for 3 days when they were supposed to be open. We received notification from our warranty company that they transferred the money to them. Three days later, JD Auto still did not order the engine. Days they are supposed to be open, they are closed with no notifications. They told us it would be ready sometime next week. That week came and went. We heard nothing from them. We tried calling and no one was answering the phone. So we had to go up there that Saturday. We get there and Juan says, "Oh, we didn't even start on your car yet"!!!!! That was the end of week two!!!!! It took 3 whole weeks for us to get our car back!!!! That is very inconvenient when you need your car to get back and forth to work! We go to pick it up the next morning after getting the call that it's ready. Hours say they open at 8am. We get there at 8:15 and it's closed. No one showed until 9am. My husband , who has to be to work at 7 but said he would be in at 9, was even more late for work!!!! JD Auto is very unreliable. I think their motto is, "We will get to it, when we get to it" and "We will get there, when we get there". There is NO communication. You constantly have to call to get status updates and even then, most of the time they don't answer the phone!!!! We will NEVER bring our car here ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

My Chrysler 300 was in bad bad shape. I took my car to Buckeye Auto Repair on Karl Road for an estimate and they quoted me $1,300 for a radiator and thermostat housing. $1,300! My wonderful girlfriend had some work done at JD auto mechanic and she suggested that I go there. My estimate for the same work was $600. Actually, it was $585 but I was so happy I decided that $600 was more than fair. The work was done right and I am very very happy with JD Auto Mechanic. I was so happy that I immediately brought my mom's car in for servicing and they replaced a starter. You can expect to pay MUCH MUCH less than the rip-off joints out there( Firestone...Pep boys...etc). They treated me like family and I consider them part of my family. Here's the thing, I want a good and trust-worthy mechanic but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for that. Turns out that's a mighty tall order. Places worth going to normally seem to be ridiculously expensive. This makes me sad. Thankfully, that's not the place with JD. I found out about this little shop, off the beaten path, from a friend of mine who has most of his major car work done here. I am so very glad he told me about this place. You see, I had an oil leak in to my engine piston chambers. It was bad. I also had a rod-knock. That's even worse. Long and short of it, my car, that I was still making car payments on, needed a new engine. I called sooooo many places I found on yelp with good reviews. I got quotes from $3000 to $6000 and I wanted to cry. When my friend heard my distress, he offered up his business card for JD and said to just give him a try. In an astonishingly short amount of time (a few days versus a few weeks), I had my car back and running great for about $2500. My car runs great now and I'm definitely going back for any other work I need. Something to note. This shop is not in the "nice" part of town. It's perfectly safe and I felt fine there, but the more scaredy suburbanites might be scared off. The shop is also under construction for some serious remodeling. This means it's a dusty mess and it doesn't look so hot. But don't let that scare you away. The owner and his guys really do do an amazing job in a very reasonable amount of time for a great price. read more

I had gotten some brakes replaced at a midas a few months ago and after a few weeks of hearing squeaks and not braking well, i took it back in. they then had a whole other list of things that needed to be done and quoted me almost around $4,000! They also mentioned how it was going to take them the rest of the day to fix, which i was not able to stay since i had to be somewhere. I've been to a few mechanics around and never really found one that i trusted. When i was calling around to see if someone could pick me up, a friend mentioned how i should take it to JD, who has helped with their cars, my pastors, and even our church van. i said if they trust them to fix their car and have had no complaints, then they've gotta be good. i brought it in just in time to drop it off since they were closing on saturday, but everyone was really nice and took down notes of what needed to be looked at. it was POURING at that time and i needed to be somewhere but no one was able to pick me up again. thankfully, JD offered me a ride to the Ohio Union! they asked if it was okay that they look at it on monday since they weren't open sunday. said it was okay and thought at the latest, the would call me monday and it wouldn't get fixed until tuesday. they called me in the morning. confirmed the things that were wrong with it and gave me the breakdown of how much everything was going to cost. which was HALF of what midas was charging me. i gave the okay and didn't think much of it. he called 4 hours later and said it was ready! i couldn't have been more happier and i haven't heard any squeaks nor had any problems with the brakes. i have since moved to chicago which i am so bummed about since i had been in columbus for almost 14 years and i wish i knew about JD a lot earlier. it would've saved me the trouble and the money that i've spent on some poor service. as mentioned, it's off the beaten path on the east side of 71 and you won't notice it at first, but don't let that scare you away. take your business there, you won't be disappointed! read more

I've been working on my vehicle in the past and needed help getting a certain part off....called came down, he got it off and I went on my way. I called JD auto today after having some car issues. Mind you I drive a 2007 Toyota Yaris with over 200,000 miles, so it has a number of issues most of which I ignore, but the last shop I went to quoted me over $1200 for the front end clunk. A lady at work had suggested Juan and JD auto so I gave them a call. After talking to them about my situation (grad student on a limited budget, trying to keep my car safely on the road for under $400, ignoring the many things wrong with the car that aren't major issues), not only did they get my car in and do the work right away, they were able to fix just what was wrong, and get me back on the road for under $275!!!! As someone who was ready to throw in the towel on my old much-loved car, I was so happy to deal with an honest mechanic who understood my situation and respected it. Though I may need to get a new car soon, I was happy to keep this one on the road a little bit longer! If you have an old car and are on a budget I would highly recommend JD auto! Jd is a very untrustworthy person. He claims that something is wrong with your car but in all honesty it has no problem and he just wants to make money off of you. I brought my Audi in because it was misfiring. After he connected it the the computer he found that it needed a new camshaft sensor and when he put that in my car, it did not come on at all. Then he tried to get me to buy a new engine for 5000 dollars. The engine for this car is much cheaper and he was just trying to rip me off. I called Audi and they said they can replace an engine for 4000. Why would I pay this second rate auto shop a 1000 extra when I can take it to Audi. On top of that when I took it to Audi for the engine, they said the engine is perfectly fine and it just needed a new intake manifold which only cost me 800 dollars.
