Found this business through Angie's List. It was easy to get a quote set up since this chain has…read morewhat seems like an entire staff set up that call leads to book quotes. Sales person who came out seemed confused from when he confirmed my appointment Sunday night (not a fan of being bothered on a Sunday), ran 20 minutes late despite explicit directions, and was unprepared during the appointment which required me to repeat information already that I've shared. During my experience I couldn't help but feel the sales person was coming across sexist, ageist, and insulting with a lot of assumptions. He was also a little too curious about things that are none of his business, ironically having missed ALL of the information which would have yielded a more positive and smooth experience for me. Despite this franchise being owned by a woman which seemed like the salesperson was backpedaling to emphasize (??), the salesperson came across doubtful of the facts provided to him. It kind of felt like diversity awareness would be helpful for the sales staff so that the business appeals to a variety of customers who are seeking home finishing services. It wouldn't hurt for the staff to be coached on being professional when engaging with different (from the sales person) clientele, situations and while visiting clients' homes. I walked away with a questionable impression and wanted to warn of my experience with other non-male, post-boomer demographic seeking flooring. Thanks for coming out on short turnaround to offer a quote.

My parents needed to replace the raggedy 30-year-old carpet on the front staircase so they could…read moresell their house. They were resistant due to the expected cost and what they considered the ridiculousness of "staging" a house for the market, or even making needed updates. (Yes, these people are trapped in their memories of how it was to sell a house in the 1970s.) Norman Carpet to the rescue. Everyone I dealt with was professional and offered top-notch service, from Walter Bechtold in the Conshohocken warehouse (where we chose samples) to Susan Sullivan (the rep who coordinated our order) to the two installers (Steve and a young man whose name I didn't get). When we discovered that we needed to get the job moved up a day or two so that potential buyers could see the house, Susan stepped up and pushed the job through scheduling on short notice, for which we are eternally grateful. The installers arrived on time (in fact, an hour early) and got the job done within a few hours. Steve and his partner were extraordinarily polite and friendly and did a good job. The new carpet looks miles better than the old carpet, and, most important to us, was affordable...to the point where my parents now wish they'd been less resistant and had gotten more than the staircase done. Yay, Norman Carpet One.

I cannot speak to how good or bad this store is in terms of their carpet and flooring business,…read morebut, as neighbors, they are despicable. Despite having multiple, and usually empty, parking spots both in front of and behind the store, their employees continuously take up every spot on the neighboring street, a street where actual residents clearly do not have enough parking. They have been asked politely and repeatedly by residents if they could please use their own parking, and they refuse. Rudely. There are many elderly residents on the street who end up having to walk from a block away because employees of the store take up minimally three to four parking spots every day. After the blizzards, when we spent many hours digging out a few precious spots, Norman's employees rolled in and took them. As I wrote, I cannot speak to how they do as a business, but if this is how they treat their neighbors, I'm guessing they are the opposite of nice and or integrity based people to do business with, which seems to be the case judging by their terrible reviews.
