Plenty of parking which won't be an issue. It's a very small restaurant and stuck between other restaurants so it's easy to miss. There is no dine in option as you can only pickup. Hard to see any of the inside as the glass is foggy. Prices were decent and food was ready quickly. I ordered the shrimp teriyaki. It was decent. Wasn't really overwhelmed with the teriyaki sauce so I wish there could've been more. The shrimp had a distinct taste as if it were straight from the ocean so something to be aware. The cabbage that accompanied it was fairly seasoned. It paired well with the rice and shrimp. Decent serving as for $11.00. If I could change anything it would be to add more teriyaki so if you order ask for extra sauce. read more

this is my first time writing a review in a really long time, JC Terifyaki on there website it says they offer hibachi. I got the chicken one, it came with rice and veggies. little does anyone know this is not the REAL hibachi. the chicken is Chinese, and it's exactly similar to Sarqu (restaurant ) I ate a few bites of it and kinda regretted it at that point so I just stopped eating it. a few hours later my symptoms got worse and I haven't stopped throwing up (got this last night ) and I'm writing this at 11:30pm the next night. they definitely didn't cook my food right and I would absolutely never go back to this place. I should receive a refund. the ONLY positive about the food was it came with a lot. I used to live very close to here, so it was a fairly frequent staple for me. It's about as hole in the wall as it gets, but the prices are great for the amount of food you get! I really enjoy their soul food selections, especially the sides such as the collard greens and sweet potatoes, and their desserts are pretty great too! I've had both fried fish and fried chicken and like them both. The fried chicken isn't seasoned a whole lot, but it's so crispy, so it tastes great hot and fresh! They also serve some teriyaki dishes, and I'm a big fan of the teriyaki chicken. Once I tried that once, that quickly became my go-to, for price, taste, and quantity! Ordered chicken teriyaki. Not good. While it was a heaping helping, it wasn't great. I believe a lot of the chicken was dark meat, which I loathe. The veggies were zucchini and cabbage. The fried seafood platter was not fresh seafood. It was more like frozen Mrs. Paul's seafood. The seafood was very "fishy" smelling and made everything I ordered smell like fish. I normally I don't do fried chicken, but when I do, it will be from JC Teriyaki! Once you open up that plate and take that first crispy bite of juicy meat, you will understand my infatuation. This little, hidden gem is home to some great soul food, cooked by three little Asian men. And no, they don't speak much English, so know what you want. You see this Asian trio makes all your food at the moment and it is surprisingly fresh. As I waited for my meal and saw how the guys washed all the vegetables and took their time checking on the chicken to make sure it was fried thoroughly. Something I tremendously appreciate after various raw chicken experiences. They don't have a ton of sides, but a sure fire hit is their potato salad. It's strange, yellowish color, with a strange sweetish flavor, but altogether it works and you will be fighting for that last spoonful. I wasn't very impressed with the mac 'n cheese, it wasn't cheesy enough for me, but at least they use real cheese! And the corn bread just gets lost in the midst of all the other carbs as a decent piece. The food is also very reasonably priced and good portions. I've picked up food from JC Teriyaki two days in a row to try a few of their main dishes to see what was happening there. I've eaten their Fried Chicken and Hibachi Chicken, along with sides of Lima Beans, Potato Salad, Corn Bread and the Cabbage/Carrots combo that comes with the Hibachi offerings. JCT sits on Parkside Avenue just north of Olden Avenue Extension in a somewhat rundown retail strip center which also has a Chinese takeout joint and an Italian pizzeria. Nice to have options. While I enjoyed the entertainment of watching these three guys preparing the food, the actual finished products were only average. The Fried Chicken combo of breast and wing was nicely meaty and never frozen, however the coating did not have very much flavor compared to the standards we all know. It lacked sufficient spices to really stand out. The white meat was plump and juicy and would have really shined with the right flour mix. The accompanying Potato Salad was nicely sweet, but the Lima Beans were supersized and mushy. The Corn Bread was pretty good. The Hibachi Chicken order was large and with the Veggies really weighed down the container. It was cut into small strips and doused well with Hibachi Sauce throughout grilling. It was interesting to see the American short order grill used for a Japanese dish. I had not thought of that before, but it was cool to put those two cultural icons together. The chicken was tender and had a nice flavor. The veggies of Steamed Cabbage and Carrots were a little boring; lacking much taste. JC Teriyaki is a mixed bag. I like the concept demonstrating the cross-cultural bonds between Southern American cooking and Japanese grilling, but had higher expectations for the actual results. Perhaps, the pricing of the meals (quite low) interferes with the ability to really pull out the stops and make the meals memorable. 3.5 Stars is probably the right place to be here, but I want to encourage an upgrade in performance quality which won't happen without a little mild criticism. read more

Went here twice within a two week span in Feb '21. First order was the hibachi white fish. Nice portion size but I wasn't a fan of the taste. Was expecting the flavor you get from a hibachi steakhouse. Second time I went I had the fried chicken platter. Fried chicken was good, macaroni and cheese was bland, and collard greens were good until I found a piece of plastic towards the bottom. Called to notify the store and there wasn't an apology. Just an offer to refund or provide something else on the menu. read more

LOVE! LOVE ! LOVE THIS PLACE! I visit here at least twice a week when I don't feel like cooking and it feels like I'm getting a home cooked meal. The workers there are very friendly especially the cashier who knows my order when I come in and how I like it doesn't know my name but he still knows what I order soon as I walk in. The prices are reasonable, portions good sized, and the soul food here is great! It could use a bit more spicy, but it is always fresh and cooked well. The chicken and fish are fried well and very tasty. I love that they offer so many sides. I love their collard greens most. They are tender and not overcooked. As I said, the food could be seasoned more, but I just add some of my own powdered spice blend at home. Their yams are not overly sweet and for many that is a good thing. Honestly, we've been happy every time we ate from this establishment. The staff is polite too and that is what matters to me most. I'd rather eat at a less than perfect, but good place, if they have good customer service, than a place with perfect food but horrible customer service. I can't stand establishments that act like they're doing you a favor for taking your money. Appreciating your customers is the way to success not just good food or product. This place serves a lot of food at a reasonable price. For under $10 you can get a large amount of Hibachi Chicken, Veggies, and White Rice. More students at TCNJ should know about and use this restaurant. Although it is a hole in the wall in terms of size, the quality/price is fantastic.
