I should have checked Yelp reviews before engaging with Jamarda. He is a completely fraudulent contractor. The stories you read in these other reviews are exactly what he is currently doing to us. We hired him to put up a chain link fence and he no showed 5 days in a row claiming it continued to be an issue with material. Finally he decided that he couldnt do the job, when asked to return the money he said he had to get it from his "subcontractors" who were buying the material. But you will see in the attached texts that he was claiming to be buying the materials himself. Complete Fraud and we will be pursuing it as far as we have to. read more

Bad experience overall. Hired to do a patch job. Sent invoice and requested to be paid via Zelle. He sent the wrong phone number and I Zelle the money. He inquired the next day and I told him the payment was sent. Called the bank with him on the line and found out that he provided the wrong number. I shouldn't have sent the second payment until I recovered the first payment but since he was a "small business" didn't want to withhold payment for some of the services but now the bank stated that because there wasn't an error in terms of the bank as in a technical glitch or the banks error, they declined the claim. Gave a bunch of run arounds and ultimately ceased communication and didn't finish the job that he was paid to do and disappeared with the money. Would never use him again. Have plenty of documentation around this if someone questions this. read more

Because I don't want anyone to have to ever deal with what I've endured I am sharing this gut wrenching story. Back in November I experienced severe water damage in my home. Thankfully I have an insurance company (Ussa) that paid for the damages. The referred contractor that worked with USAA was taking a very long time to get to my project so I decided to use an outside contractor by the name of JC Davis Carpentry. He confidently took on my project. Unbeknownst to me this would be the worst decision of my life. The insurance company initially made the check out to the wrong mortgage company which caused a delay in receiving the funds. During this time the contractor constantly hounded me for money so that he could start. When we finally received the funds, I paid him half for materials and the other half I was going to provide him with when the job was finished. Instead he kept the money and asked me to by the material. Honestly I was desperate at this point to get my house finished because my sons and I were in a hotel for 3 months (thankfully my insurance company paid for that as well). Keep in mind the job was advised would only take 3-4 weeks to complete in full. Here we are in April and he still hasn't completed the job. All of his workers bailed out on him because he wasn't paying them and pocketing the money. He tried to blame it on the delay in funds from the initial check, but truth be told if you're a contractor you should have the capital to start the project especially when the insurance company is funding it in full. At this point we'd exhausted all of the funds from the first check to the point where the insurance company supplied additional funds and he signed a document saying that this amount would allow him to complete the project. In the midst of all of this, the job rendered was mediocre from the paint to the flooring. He rarely supervised the project and would look to me to report back to him in job completion which is not my JOB. We have been home since late February and we are still walking on hazardous stairs with nails exposed and my vanity has not been installed in my bathroom. Oh, let's not forget all of the excuses and blaming everything on the workers and his personal life. The weather was always an excuse, flat tire (change the tire and keep it moving) . He fell out with the dumpster guy because of money. The excuses were unlimited, I could go on and on. The carpet guy was supposed to be coming for five days but never showed up yo finish the stairs that I told him to carpet anyway. He would tell me that the guy was in route and he never showed, only for him to eventually tell me the man was out of town because of family health issues. With all of this being said I asked Jemarda to at least drop off the materials that he claims to have (carpet for the stairs and my bathroom vanity) along with whatever funds he may have left so that I can find someone else to complete the job. Today he said he would be here by noon and he has not answered my calls nor texts. I am sharing this story to definitely blast him as a horrible "business owner" so that no one has to endure what I have and to also shed light on contracting gone wrong. Please pay attention to the signs, your gut feeling and intuition will never fail you. Contractors have such a bad reputations because of awful contractors like him. I am sure there are reputable contractors out there, but this was a nightmare and has me on edge. How can one sleep at night knowing they have wronged someone to this magnitude. All I've wanted is for my house to be completed especially with I've supplied him with what it takes to do so. ‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼ DONOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR TO BUILD A BIRD HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very professional after dealing with a couple of bad contractors it was refreshing to have JC come in and do exactly what he said he could when he said he could. JC and his guys did some outdoor repairs for me after a storm . He assisted me through the whole process even with the insurance claim made sure I knew all the steps to take . I highly recommend, and will be using his services for my home needs moving forward! read more

Literally the worst experience, I've ever had. Super unprofessional. It's funny that the owner Jay can be super responsive before getting any money. Once the money is received, it's like you're communicating with a mute. He picked the time and date, I made sure I made myself available. Lmfaooo HE DID NOT SHOW UP AT ALL and on top of that did not communicate anything with me. Jay asked for money to purchase the materials ahead of time. He kept asking, kept asking until I finally sent it to him. On the day of when he's supposed to be working on putting up the simplest fence, he's at Home Depot at 4pm talking about he's getting materials. One thing about me, I'm super understanding & patient, so all he had to do was pick up the phone and say "I won't make it at noon" .. all 8pm I'm trying to contact him and when he finally picks up the phone, tries to give me a sob story about someone else on his team". Then the entitled arrogance when I'm asking questions and giving suggestions, HA! Run me back my money guy, I'll give it to the next person that appreciates my business. Another thing, this is the exact reason why I didn't pay through Zelle, you're unprofessional and trying to keep my money. Stop trying to get over on people, can you at least just TRY to run a decent Black owned business. Note to owner, you need to learn how to listen to understand, instead of listening to respond. That's why you kept getting the estimates wrong in the first place. You're hard of hearing. ANYONE READING THIS I found someone so reliable to do the job instead, I have a ton load of things I want done in my house and I got money to spend. My hot water tank burst and leaked water and damaged my hallway floor. After getting the tank replaced I searched for a carpenter to replaced my laminate flooring. It was a small job but very important to me. I contacted JC, within 20min he replied. I sent photos of the floor and he let me know he could do it. we scheduled a day and he showed up on time and replaced the flooring in less than 2hrs. He also informed me on how to treat the floor. The whole time he was professional and polite and treated me with understanding. I recommend JC for you carpentry needs. This guy is the worst. He does not need his own business. He was supposed to remove carpet and put down hardwood floors. He was supposed to order a dumpster. For 2 weeks he kept saying the dumpster was supposed to come. Dumpster never came. He tried to make it look like the dumpster company was at fault. He said he was going to get another dumpster company. That never came either. He eventually came to take out the carpet in 2 rooms. This guy NEVER came back. Im calling him and he has every excuse in the book on why he couldn't do the work. After too many chances I said Im not satisfied, I want my money back. Run from jc it has been a nightmare. Mr. JC supposed do my home office then I can run my business. He told to give him a deposit first big mistake. He make so much excuses never begin the job. I ready the review after his behavior all the negative review was true. He canceled the job he agree to give me my deposit back within 3 days this was June 5. I just received my deposit I was going to take him to court. He isn't to be trusted he will come up with different stories. I have lost business because of this man. I commissioned Mr. Davis for a major home renovation project. He started out with enthusiasm to complete the job , received deposits for work but did not complete the work. When I asked for a refund , he promised for over 1 year to refund the money but he did not. Although he presents like a nice man with all of the credentials required, his business ethics are not good. I am still dissatisfied, the project was not completed and i am still awaiting a refund. read more

The reason why Jay is being given a 1 generous star is because 1. He charged me by the hour $65 and any opportunity he could he took to sit on the clock,he did. Whether to be on the phone, texting and whatever else. 2. When I bought the materials needed for this project, he stole a box of drywall screws and compound pail. 3. the drywall wasn't professionally done it looks sloppy 4. Tried to quote me 6 hours for 4 hours worth of work. Never again will I be using him for his services.
