DO NOT HIRE THIS SECURITY COMPANY TO PROTECT YOUR EMPLOYEES OR YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!
Recently my daughter and I were guest at a local business that is secured by J & P Security guards. I have been a long time customer of this business through various online purchases. On this particular occasion I drove to the location while my 20 year old daughter applied for a summer position while she is home from college. It was later in the day when we arrived and I waited in the car while my daughter went inside.
After about 20 minutes my daughter came back to the car practically in tears. The J & P Security guard that was assigned to the location had sexually harassed her and solicited her for sex. He lured her to his car by saying that he would turn in the employment application to management, but since he was ending his shift she needed to bring it to his car. Which she did (unwise I know but she trusted someone who was wearing a uniform that implied that he was there to protect). When she went to his car he told her that he can make sure her application is seen if she "did something for him in return" and leaned back his car and pointed to his crock. At that point my daughter hurried away, yelling to him that her mother was on the other side of the parking lot. She was so frighten by the security guard's action that she left her application behind.
She immediately told me what happen and by the time we alerted management at the location the security guard was gone for the day. We also alerted police as we were worried that this security guard was a predator and had probably done the same to other young girls who applied at the location. More importantly he had never turn in the application which means that he had all her information from her security number to home address.
The business handled the situation appropriately for the most part by guaranteeing that the security guard would not be allowed back on this site.
However, this issue I now have is with J & P Security. After speaking with management onsite I was given the number directly to Joe Karmia, the owner at J & P Security. I gave Mr. Karmia a call with the goal that I would relay to him the actions of his employee and he would take the appropriate disciplinary action. I was wrong! As soon as I told mentioned that my daughter had an issue with the security guard and that he implied that she needed to preform oral sex on him in order for him to turn in her resume he started practically screaming about how we could not prove it and that we had nothing on camera. I found this very strange because I had not even got to the point of describing the details of the incident nor had not told him the age of my daughter (the place hires under 18), or any other details. He did not seem slightly surprised, did not ask any followup questions and said he that he would not discipline or fire the guy if it were not on camera. He was practically irritate and yelling at ME for reporting this behavior!
I'm sure this security guard will never be allowed back at this particular business location, but I doubt he would be fired from J & P Security based on the owner's reaction. Can you image having one of your employees or clients sexually harassed and solicited by the 3rd party security officer that you hired to protect them? Then on top of that the owner of the company disrespects YOUR CUSTOMER and does nothing to ensure that it doesn't happen again?
Horrible Business! Your 3rd party security company should not make people feel unsafe! read more
