And was patient with my Wild children..lol They turned cool lights on and flashers..and next thing I knew my kids were QUIET for once..lol and all had smiles on their faces, the Gentleman definitely Enlighted the mood.. So, being an honest guy, I know nothing about this tow company at all. I recently purchased a vehicle from a young mom in Detroit that I knew had and needed repairs. Just so happens, out of the kindness of my heart, I go to pick up my friend from work (all the way on 8 Mile & Dequindre area)....now let's pause here for honesty. I've had the car since (9/27/24) almost a month, but I was only driving to work (DMC Hospital as a Patient Transporter) and to close areas within the city so I wouldn't get pulled over for not having registration, insurance, or a license plate. I'm me to buying cars or even knowing the first about what to do when getting a a new car besides checking the gas, tires, brakes, and lights. So everything about this purchase was probably morally wrong, but in the end the mom and I helped each other. She had the money she needed to move in her new place and I got transportation for myself and my two kids. To make a boring story relevant I hadn't taken the time to look for, inquire, or find insurance because I'd heard so many terrible things about young people not being able to afford insurance, especially when I'm paying child support for kids I barely get to see, buy groceries and essential items with cash, and to stay sane I have my beer and cigarette vices. I'm giving an unbiased review so I kinda expect an unbiased opinion when we meet. I don't really too much care for other peoples opinion of someone or a company until meeting them myself. So, in a nutshell, J&M, my car was told to be taken to your shop by Romulus Police at approx. 12:50am on October 15, 2024. I wasn't in an accident, I didn't have any flat tires, my car was working sort of okay when I got pulled over for not having insurance or a tailight (because that's what the officer said to me upon asking for my single key to be placed on the dashboard. I had my work clothes, kids clothes/toys/memorabilia in the trunk and was sleeping in my car before having it taken. I had a friend call for me while I was at work to ask about daily holding charges or towing fee to get it back, she said "a lady told me since it's still registered to the previous owner I can't give out any information on the car" which is fine with me, but I want to know instead if I can just come pay to get it off your lot in the morning? I informed the officers at the scene that I was in the process of obtaining insurance and registration today (10/16/24) being that I know I'm getting paid via direct deposit, not knowing how much and reading some of your reviews at 2:00am is kinda skeptical, but I'd still rather deal with each other personally. Even after doing so, whether services are good or bad, I'll come back and leave another review in a show of good faith and just because I feel people have already discredited you before giving others the opportunity to check your services for ourselves. I for one am looking forward to make this, what I assume to be a simple task, just that and hopefully be able to obtain my registration as I plan to go on Lin for my auto insurance company of choice. After which time, I'll be at the nearest Secretary of State for registration and temporary plates, if I can't complete that online as well. I hope 3 stars is fair enough for an unbiased opinion until further notice and I feel like past customers should have done the same. J&M looking forward to the meet, yelp reviewers, I guess wish me luck. With all the typing, I probably didn't make my int inquiry clear enough, I'm simply looking to retrieve my car from your lot so I can drive to work tomorrow. Nothing more, nothing less. MY car was invloved in an accident, and towed to J&M Towing Service while my insurance company made arrangements to tow to body shop. When the tow company arrived to pick up my car, they were turned away claiming they needed the Huron Charter Township Police Vehicle Release form. They wont do anything over the phoe, so you have to go there. Heres where it gets good, the Police charged my $75 for this release form. In short - even if these hacks tow your vehicle don't let them take it to there yard. The racketeering scam between them and the cops will cost you money and time. read more

Due to an error on my part an abandoned camper was taken to J & M towing. They saved me hundreds of dollars by scheduling an appointment at Secretary of State, told me how to get a release form from the police. I was able to get the camper released to them and all legal items resolved in a morning's time. Thank you so much. read more

I don't know about these previous posts but today -29 out I called them at 8:30 in the morning they did not give me a hard time very honest with price towed my truck from 94 and exit 199 all the way to St. Clair Shores . Didn't Hassel me or try and charge me extra because it was cold out side like another company did. Prejudice I doubt it unless there is a new technology that tells you the color of someone via voice. On 8/28 we had a Freightliner break down in Taylor MI. We called out J&M Towing for service who determined roadside the radiator had a hole in it. We authorized them to tow the truck to their facility to complete repairs. The morning of 8/29 we contacted J&M. They explained that there were a couple trucks ahead of ours needing repair, but if we wanted to proceed they could get started on it and possibly have it completed by the next day. We decided to forgo the repair being done at J&M due to a crunched time frame needing the truck. At that point, we made a decision to send one of our Diesel Technicians from Walker out to Romulus (2.5 hours and 160 miles away) to repair the tractor at one of our drop lots 8 miles down the road from J&M. We contacted J&M roughly around noon to tell them our plans and that the tech would be there to pick up the truck before they closed. J&M said that was fine. At 3pm we received a call from them stating in order for our tech to recover the truck from their facility he would need to provide a certificate of liability insurance as well as a wrecker (which they did not tell us at noon when plans were originally arranged). After learning their unforeseen requirements, we then asked J&M to tow the truck 8 miles to our drop lot. They told us it would be an additional $195 as well as a couple hour ETA on the tow, which we said was fine - at that time we paid the original tow invoice of $695 plus the new tow charge of $195. At 5:45pm our tech was still waiting on the truck to arrive at the drop lot. At 8:40pm we contacted J&M at which point, they explained the drive shaft is out of the truck, we couldn't drive it out and we had to wait for them to tow it, but they couldn't tow it yet because they were still waiting on a different tow truck to get back from recovery. At 9:30pm our tech contacted J&M and the person working said it was fine for our tech to put the driveshaft in the truck and drive it off the lot - so he did (although we had already paid the additional $195 for the tow to our lot). We feel as a company we were supplied with continuous excuses while trying to recover our truck. This particular experience with J&M was not only less than sub-par, but lacked all around business ethics and professionalism. read more

Rip off artist. Called them to repair a flat last night. Two miles from their address. They couldn't repair it. They instead simply put my donut spare on which I could have done. Figured it would be $25. Wanted $75. Finally agreed to $60 after the fact. read more

My car was involved in a car accident and had to be towed. I called the next day to inquire about the next thing to do. I was told that I need to pay $315 to get the car today and will be 340 tomorrow with $25 charge per day. they also gave me the option to pay $125 in order to be able to retrieve my plate. the town distance was only 8 miles so that is $37 per mile. since the car was not worth much, I asked if I can just leave the car for them to keep it. he said the collection may call me requesting payment. I did not sign any document at the time of towing and I think these charges are crazy. read more

The cops called this towing company when I was in accident to clear the road. I didn't choose them and well, I wouldn't have. I told the guy to tow my car to a Southgate dealership, he said "no problem, we'll drop it off right now so that it'll be there when it opens in the morning." He had a "helper" with him who asked me about four times if I'd rather take it to his body shop. After I said no...four times...he finally just drove it up on the ramp. I went to the dealership in the morning and my car wasn't there. I called J&M, the absurdly rude woman that answered the phone told me that her records said my car was at the dealership and gave me a ridiculous amount of attitude when I told her that I was standing in the dealership and my car wasn't there. She finally rerouted me to the driver, who had left it in a yard overnight. So, my car finally gets to the dealership and they hand the bill to the girl at the front desk. I happen to ask how much it was (thank GOD my insurance covered it) and it was $586. I could not even fathom why it would be that much, so I asked for the breakdown: $50 - clean up of the street from the accident (there was NO clean up - no broken glass, tires, etc.) $150 - hauling it onto the ramp (not driving it...which the guy DID drive it right up the ramp) $200 - keeping it in the yard overnight (which he did not have to do because the dealership has a specific drop spot for overnight deliveries and he knew this because he said he was dropping it off that night) + and whatever other random charges he threw in there. J&M IS AN UTTER JOKE!!!! I don't think he deserves the 1 star I was forced to give. I called J & M towing on 4/12/21, Tele-Wick towing refereed me to J &M because they have stinger trucks that can lift and tow an RV. I called "JOE" and he gave me a high price. I accepted, don't have time and need to get this RV moved. I explained to him the RV is for a homeless woman and her kids. She lost her waitress job due to the pandemic. She eventually lost her home. Now she's sleeping in the car w/ her kids and dogs. Single mom. She's back to work now. If she makes enough at work that day, they stay in a hotel. Now she has a home to stay in, called Joe and he told me he could do it. I told him i'd call back with the address where it's going, it's 6 miles away and I needed to confirm the address with the homeless Mom. Called Joe back, he's whole demeanor changed, I'm busy, I mean I'm really busy. Ok Joe, I understand, just come when you can. I called him back 5 hrs later, IM REALLY REALLY BUSY he says with all kinds of attitude, I'll call you when I'm on my way. Yesterday comes and goes, no call from Joe, I call Joe today @ 10 am, soon as he hears who I am his whole demeanor changes again and he gets all cocky with me. I said dude, you already made her pay another night in the hotel because you never called. IM BUSY!!! Well why in T F did you quote me a price and tell me you would do it if you're so busy, JOE. Then he says don't talk to me like that, as if he's God! Joe, I hope u are a man of your word, show up to my house, son. I promise you picked the wrong guy to THREATEN!!! I gave them one star only because there is not an option for 1 star. Totally ripped off my son by telling him that they could not take it to his shop of choice because it didn't have full coverage. So disappointing to see a company take advantage of a kid like this - now they are claiming that he was belligerent so they had to impound the car. I was on the phone, even spoke to the police officer who told me that it was between me and the tow service. I have been in the automotive repair industry for 30+ years and this is completely ridiculous - the reason why towing and repair services have such a lousy reputation. Simply disappointing service & i don't understand why the police continue to use this company; particularly when i read all of the horrible reviews from others who have been taken advantage of. read more
