On the advice of several friends that had used Big Dog in Manassas VA. for concrete work in there…read moreyards, I asked for and received a very fair quote to repave a concrete deck in my back yard. My expectations were surpassed by the quality of workmanship and dedication each member of there crew's performance. The attention to detail was amazing. From covering my inground pool with plastic sheet to prevent possible cement falling to the bottom, covering the house with plastic sheet to prevent cement splash from hitting my siding to covering the base of my 6 x6 upper deck support beams with tar based post sleeves. Most importantly, I took down two sections of fence so equipment would be able to access my back yard. I went outside to dig a hole for a new fence post that needed replacing. As I began to dig, one of the workers, on his lunch break, came to me and volunteered to dig the hole for me. These are workers that take pride in there job and are happy to be working for this company. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife and completely understand why this is such a successful company. Please give them a try on your next project.

This review is long overdue, but I've been meaning to share our wonderful experience with Al, Mike…read moreand their team on the multiple projects they completed for our old, complex house. We converted two rooms plus a hallway into a master suite as well as split two large upstairs rooms into three. We had structural concerns and lots of logistics to work out and I wouldn't trust anyone other than Mike to draw up the plans to make sure everything is safe and up to code. Al oversaw the projects and was in constant communication with us and regularly was on site to make sure everything was going smoothly. If anything wasn't 100% correct or what we had discussed, he would make sure it was remedied. Big shout out to Franz who even showed up to work the day after his wife had a baby! The M3 team worked late days and on weekends (with our consent) to meet their deadlines, even when the county held them up with permitting issues they still worked hard to finish within our timeframe. We even made major changes to our plans after construction had begun and they were able to pivot and help us get more square footage for the upstairs bedrooms. There were also numerous curveballs that they handled with ease (ya never know what you'll get with an old house). This was our first time doing any sort of large project and the team at M3 gave us plenty of guidance and support to make sure the finished product exceeded our expectations. Very glad we found Kitchen Design Center, and had them do a lot of things in our house, not just…read morethe Kitchen. We used KDC to renovate our Kitchen, Master Bathroom, and fix some other issues around the house that involved tiling, plumbing, drywall, etc. We first started with KDC on the kitchen, where we had them install all new countertops, and replace our cabinets, basically a whole kitchen renovation. They handled everything and had people for plumbing, tiling, painting, electrical. Everything was handled for us with minimal involvement other than picking out materials. It was one of the easiest experiences where we picked out what we wanted in their showroom and had their project manager coming to the house to review progress on a consistent basis. With how smoothly the kitchen went, we had KDC fix our guest bathroom where things went just as smooth, and then do a whole renovation of the master bathroom. Similarly, we picked out all of the materials in their showroom and the results were amazing. The quality and craftsmanship is very detailed, with new cabinets, tiling, moving different fixtures to new locations, and installation of everything flawlessly. They even alerted us to a cheaper countertop option that still met our needs. All in all, it seems like KDC worked on half the house and did some in a timely and expert way. We've recommended them to friends and happy to do so for others. It was refreshing trusting someone to do a great job with minimal supervision and we're thrilled with the results.

I have no qualms with it, I just wish my Spanish was better to be able to speak freely with the contractor. They also sent a quote in an expedient manner and were highly responsive. The quote was a lot higher than expected so I went in a different direction. And it didn't include an itemized list of costs so it didn't justify the quote. I didn't follow up with these questions because it was twice as much than I wanted to pay. That's too wide of a gap for negotiation.

WORST HANDYMAN I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED…read more Here's what happened... - I asked Gino to do 2 tasks: 1) install an additional shelf in my closet and 2) transform an empty/dead space in my cabinet into a usable cabinet. He said he could do both and would charge me $300 for both tasks - I didn't even negotiate with him as I thought that seemed like a fair price? - For the cabinet I asked Gino to transform the empty space into a cupboard that matches the rest of my cabinets. First off, he asked me to pick up all the wood, plywood, and handles from Home Depot (WHAT!? I have no experience in this!). That should have been my first warning sign, but he insisted I do it. Then, he did a half-ass job of constructing a cabinet that barely even matches the rest - it looks like a 2 year old did it. Lastly, and most infuriatingly, I noticed that he put the cabinet door on backwards - with the brown/rough edge exposed instead of the polished white side facing out!! When I texted Gino to alert him to his mistake, he replied "Paint it white" - how condescending! What an awful handyman to suggest I finish the job for him that he did incorrectly! Pictures of the cabinet and text attached. - For the closet, I currently have 1 shelf installed but want a 2nd above the 1st. Gino drilled 12 halls into the wall and THEN told me he was unable to complete the task because there was metal behind the wall. Seems strange because there's already 1 shelf successfully up, but fine - I understand if it's a safety concern and he doesn't want to complete the task. The part I'm furious about is that he left the 12 drilled holes in my wall that I now have to now patch, sand, and paint!! Picture attached. I told Gino he could not leave my wall like that - and he said he would return another day to fix it - and I requested it be within the next 2 weeks... - Bringing me to my next point, his unprofessional, condescending, and a**hole behavior. I followed up the morning Gino was supposed to return to the finish/fix the job and he replied "In hospital. Bad Reception. Flu and Other symptoms". Ooook ... I texted you, didn't call ... but fine, I'll assume you're telling the truth and so I told him to rest, feel better, and we could regroup the following week. Upon confirmation the following week Gino replied "Can't work for 2-3 weeks. I'm past 60, my body is breaking down. Some faster than others - not sure when I can get back there". So I replied "Sorry to hear you're body is breaking down, but that's not the deal we made ... I paid you $300 for an unfinished job that I expected you to complete within 2 weeks, so I would like you to come back tomorrow or give me an exact date you can return" ... to which he replied: "Listen here little girl. I went there to do a job. And my job did not include painting. You have champagne taste on a beer budget. I'm out. Enough said". WHAT......???? All of these texts are attached. This is unprofessional, rude, and UNREAL - I couldn't believe he had the audacity to say such awful things! - Gino is a conman: he does part of the job, at poor quality under expectations, demands money with the promise that he'll return to finish, and then plays sick or flat out denies to come back. - Gino told me that he used to live in LA and went bankrupt there ... and now I understand why. He'll probably go bankrupt here in DC as well. Moral of the story: DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN - HE IS HORRIFIC. *Gino: I will gladly revise this review if you choose to fix the problems you created at my house or refund my money for an unfinished job. Otherwise this post will remain on your Yelp page to warn others against you.
