Close up of new column with PVC with PVC base trim and molding.

I bookmarked G&G in my Yelp app on my phone. I'll definitely be calling Gino in the future. Read on... I had my house painted and needed the wood wraps on 3 columns on my front porch replaced as the columns had some wood rot. I called Gino and he came out and gave me what I felt was a fair estimate for the work. As he tore away one of the existing column wraps, he discovered there was no support post behind the wrap which was a very serious structural issue neither one of us had anticipated. Gino told me he would put new posts in and it would cost 20% more which I thought was fair. He went and picked up the posts and cut and installed them. The 6x6 pressure treated posts were heavy and difficult to maneuver and require a large power saw to cut. He did it all and didn't complain a bit about the unanticipated work, which I think set him back about 3 hours. Needless to say, this type of construction is a also beyond a typical handyman job. He put on the new PVC wraps and we discussed how to trim the posts to match the existing trim on my house. In a nutshell, the new posts look great, Gino stuck with the job and resolved the underlying issue. The entire job took him a day and a half, and I think he only had anticipated the job to take a day originally. For anyone who's worked with contractors, you know how an unanticipated issue can throw a wrench into the job and the contractor's schedule. Gino stuck with this job which I'm extremely grateful. I kicked in a couple hundred at the end of the job because of his commitment to stick with it and do it right.

Organized, responds to emails, answers questions and is on top of her game. Seriously she is by far the best office manager I have ever met. 2. Trustworthy: the team at HDs are trustworthy through and through. We had zero issue providing them with access to our home for the past month. 3. On time: Eddie and Beau are always on time and if for some reason he/they can't make it (weather) Georgia or the owner, Tom, calls and let's you know. 4. Clean and tidy: when Beau and Eddie finish for the day they clean! Seriously. All of these tools etc are neatly put aside and out of the way. 5. Talent and knowledge: everyone at HD seems to know their stuff and are highly skilled at their trade. 6. Honest: Eddie walked me through the entire process and made sure I understood all of my options. At one point, I purchased some tile that ended up being hideous. Thankfully Eddie was honest and agreed. 7. Professional: everyone I have spoken to and worked with has been professional and unimposing. 8. Price: prices are competitive. 9. Time: the job has been right on schedule minus a few unavoidable hick ups (ie: weather)

After a conversation on the phone with Georgia, I received an email the following day that my project was cancelled. they claimed that " I was not a good fit for the company based on my concerns with their processes and procedures." The phone call in question was me simply asking about their billing and how/when they needed my deposit. There was no hostility or malicious intent, just the usual questions that anyone would ask before spending that much money and having people work on my home. After continuous unanswered phone calls and very generic emails that have no logical explanation I give up. The Guy that came to do the initial assessment and provided me the quote was great. Dealing with Georgia was a horrible experience and terrible customer service.

I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.
