This company has a really unethical habit of selling dirt-cheap services on Living Social, then showing up and pressure-selling. My poor wife experienced a complete bait-and-switch from this company in February 2015.
We were moving out of town, and one of the lease requirements was to have the carpet professionally cleaned. Since we are in money-saving moving mode, I unwittingly purchased a $45 carpet-cleaning deal from J&J. They showed up as promised, but refused to clean the carpets when presented with our Living Social voucher.
Here is the advertisement pasted directly out of Living Social:
J&J Professional Cleaning Services
Keep Things Tidy with a Carpet Cleaning
$45 ($120 value) for a carpet cleaning for 3 rooms for up to 200 sq. ft. each + a hallway for up to 50 sq. ft.
Sounds like a great deal, right?
The guy who showed up to do the cleaning said that he wouldn't even walk through the door for $45. Our little duplex was well within the 3 room plus hallway size limit, but he said that he would only clean our three small carpets for another $100, on top of the Living Social voucher.
My wife tried to stand up for herself, but the pushy non-professional salesperson (it would be an insult to carpet cleaners to call him a carpet cleaning professional) insisted that she needed to pay another $100 for him to do anything. Of course there was nothing she could do... we had to have the carpets cleaned, or lose our deposit. Move-out and inspection was that day; she didn't have time to call in anyone else. J&J had us right where they wanted us, and they knew it.
After doing a terrible job on the carpets, leaving them squishy-wet, soaking with water and cleaning fluid, they packed up and headed out. Knowing that the carpets would be wet and there was still work to be done packing up, they offered my wife a pair of plastic booties to protect her shoes.
Then they got in their van and left. No booties, nothing but soaking carpets and $145 in their pocket for a "$120 value" cleaning. They said that the carpets would be dry in 4 hours, but it took them over 24 hours to dry, and the landlord was not impressed. My wife's feet got soaked, and it was February in MN, so of course, she got freezing cold.
I now understand that a good carpet cleaning is worth paying for. What I don't understand is how a so-called "professional" can get away with repeatedly running a bait-and-switch swindle on a helpful site like Living Social. Others have experienced this company's unprofessional pressure-tactics.. don't make the mistake I did.. stay FAR AWAY from J&J Professional Cleaning Services. read more
